²⁰ A faithfull man is greatlye to be commended, but he that maketh to much haste for to be rych, shall not be vngyltye.

¹⁴ And Ahymelech answered the kynge & sayde: who is so faythfull amonge all thy seruauntes as Dauid & therto the kinges sonne in lawe, and goeth at thy bidding, and is had in honoure in thyne house?

²⁰ Gihezi the seruaunt of Elizeus the man of God, sayd: se, my mayster hath kepte of, thys Syryen Naaman that he wolde not receyue of hys hand that he offered. As surely as the Lorde lyueth I wyl runne after hym, and take somewhat. ²¹ And so Gihezi went after Naaman. And when Naaman sawe hym come runnynge after hym, he came doune of the charet agaynst hym & said: is all well? ²² And he sayde: yea. But my mayster hath sente me, sayinge: se there be two younge men come to me oute of Ephraim of the chyldren of the Prophetes: geue them I praye the, one talent of syluer, & a couple of good garmentes. ²³ And Naaman sayde: auenture and take two talentes of syluer in two bagges, with two goodlye garmentes, & delyuered them vnto two of hys seruauntes, to beare it before hym. ²⁴ And he went in the darcke, and toke it of theyr handes and bestowed it in the house, and let the men go, & they departed. ²⁵ Then he went & stode before hys mayster. And Elizeus sayde to hym: whence commeth Gihezi? And he sayde: thy seruaunt wente no whether. ²⁶ And he sayde: wente not myne herte with the, when the man turned & came of hys charet agaynste the? Is it a tyme to receyue syluer & to receyue garmentes, olyue trees, vineyardes, oxen, shepe menseruauntes & maid seruauntes? ²⁷ The leprosye therfore of Naaman claue vnto the, & vnto thy seede for euer. And he went out from hym a leper as whit as snowe.

⁶ Myne eyes shal loke for such as be faythfull in the lande, that they maye dwell wyth me: and who so leadeth a godly liue, shall be my seruaunt.

⁴ Vnto the godly there aryseth vp lyghte in the darcknesse: he is mercyfull, louynge and ryghtuous. ⁵ Well is he that is mercyfull, and lendeth gladly, and pondereth his wordes wyth discrecyon, ⁶ For he shall neuer be moued, the ryghtuous shall be had in an euerlastynge remembraunce. ⁷ He wyll not be afrayed for anye euyll tydynges, his herte standeth fast, and beleueth in the Lord. ⁸ Hys hert is stablished, he wyl not shrynke, vntyl he se hys desyre vpon hys enemyes. ⁹ He hath sparsed abrode, and geuen to the poore, hys ryghtuousnes remayneth for euer his horne shalbe exealted with honoure

⁶ Louynge and fauourable is the face of the rightuous, but the forehead of the vngodly is past shame and presumptuous.

¹¹ Hastely gotten goodes are sone spent, but they that be gathered together with the hand, shall increase

⁵ Who so laugheth the pore to scorne blasphemeth hys maker: & he that is glad of another mans hurt, shall not be vnpunished.

⁶ Many there be that are called good doers, but whereshal one fynde a true faythful man?

²¹ The herytage that commeth to hastely at the fyrste, shall not be praised at the ende.

⁴ Take not ouer greate trauayle and labour to be ryche, beware of suche a purpose.

²² He that wyll be ritch all to soone, hath an euell eye, and considereth not, that pouertye shall come vpon him.

⁴² And the Lorde sayd: Yf there be any faithful seruaunte and wyse, whom hys Lorde shall make ruler ouer hys housholde, to geue them theyr dutye of meate at due season:

¹ And he sayed also vnto his disciples. There was a certayne ryche man which had a steward that was accused vnto him: that he wasted hys goodes.

¹⁰ He that is faythfull in that whiche is least, the same is faythfull in muche. And he that is vnfaythfull in the least, is vnfaythfull also in muche. ¹¹ So then yf ye haue not ben faythfull in the wycked Mammon: who wyll beleue you in that which is true? ¹² And yf ye haue not bene faythfull in another mannes busynes, who shall geue you your owne?

² Furthermore it is requyred of the dysposers, that they be found faithfull. ³ Wyth me it is but a very smal thinge, that I shoulde be iudged of you, eyther of (mans daye). No I iudge not myne owne selfe. ⁴ I knowe nought by my selfe: yet am I not therby iustified. It is the Lorde that iudgeth me. ⁵ Therfore iudge nothinge before the tyme vntill the Lorde come, who wyll lyghten thinges, that are hyd in darckenes, and open the counsels of the hertes. And then shall euery man haue praise of God.

⁹ They that wyll be rych, fall into temptacyon and snares, and into many folysh and noysome lustes which drowne men in perdicyon and destruccyon. ¹⁰ For couetousnes is the rote of all euyll, whiche whyle some lusted after, they erred from the faythe and tangled them selues wyth manye sorowes.

¹⁰ Feare none of those thynges, which thou shalt suffre. Behold, the deuil shal caste of you into pryson, to tempte you, and ye shal haue tribulacion .x. dayes. Be faythful vnto the death, & I wyl geue the a croune of life.

¹³ I know thy workes, and where thou dwellest euen where Sathans seate is, and thou kepest my name, and hast not denyed my fayth. And in my dayes, Antypas was a faithful wytnes of myne whych was slaine among you, where Sathan dwelleth.
