¹ The Prouerbes of Salomon the sonne of Dauid king of Israell:

²⁴ And Dauid comforted Bethsabe hys wyfe, & went in vnto her & laye with her, and she bare a sonne whose name was called Salomon, and the Lorde loued hym. ²⁵ And he sent by the hand of Nathan the Prophete & called his name Iedidiah, of the Lordes behalfe.

¹² And Salomon sate vpon the seate of Dauid hys father, and hys kyngdome was stablyshed myghtely.

³¹ And he excelled all men in wysdome, both Ethan the Ezrahite, & Heman, Chalcol and Dorda the sonnes of Mahol. And hys name sprede abroade amonge all nacyons on euerye syde. ³² And Salomon wrote thre thousande prouerbes. And his songes were a thousande and fyue.

⁹ Behold, a sonne shalbe borne the, whych shalbe a man of reste, for I will geue him reste from al his enemies round aboute. And his name shalbe Salomon: for I wyl sende rest and peace vpon Israel in his dayes.

⁵ And of all my sonnes (for the Lorde hathe geuen me manye sonnes) he hath chosen Salomon my sonne, to syt in the seate of the kingdom of the Lorde ouer Israel.

²⁸ And he dyed in a good age: old, ryche, and gloryouse: And Salomon his sonne raigned in hys steade.

¹ The Parables of Salomon. A wyse sonne maketh a glad father, but an vndiscrete sonne is the heuinesse of hys mother.

¹ These also are the sayinges of Salomon, which the men of Ezekiah Kynge of Iuda gathered together.

⁹ The same Preacher was not wyse alone, but taught the people knowlege also: he gaue good hede, sought out the ground & set forth many parables.

²⁵ These thynges haue I spoken vnto you in prouerbes. The tyme will come when I shall no more speake to you in prouerbes: but I shall shewe you plainly from my father.
