⁴³ Of this be sure, that if the good man of the house knewe what houre the these woulde come, he would suerlye watche, and not suffer his house to be broken vp.

² If a thefe be founde breakynge vp & be smytten that he dye, there shal no bloude be shed for hym: ³ excepte the sunne be vp when he is founde, then there shalbe bloude shed for hym. A thefe shall make restitucion: If he haue not wherwith, he shalbe solde for hys thefte.

¹¹ And when they had receyued it, they murmured agaynst the good man of the house

⁴⁴ Therfore be ye also redye, for in the houre ye thinke he woulde not, wyll the sonne of man come.

³⁹ Thys vnderstande, that yf the good man of the house knewe what houre that these would come, he woulde surely watche, and not suffer hys house to be broken vp.

² for ye youre selues knowe perfectly that the daie of the Lorde shall come euen as a thefe in the nyght. ³ When they shal say peace and no daunger, then commeth on them soden destruccion, as the trauaylynge of a woman wyth chyld, and they shal not escape. ⁴ But ye brethren are not in darckenes, that that daye shoulde come on you as it were a thefe. ⁵ Ye are all the chyldren of lyght and the chyldren of the daye. We are not of the nyghte neither of darckenes. ⁶ Therfore let vs not slepe as do other: but let vs watche & be sober.

¹⁰ Neuertheles the daye of the Lord wyl come as a thiefe in the nyght in the which daye, the heauens shal peryshe wyth terryble noyse, and the elementes shal melte wyth heate, and the earth wyth the workes that are therin shal burne. ¹¹ If al these thinges shal perishe, what maner persons ought ye to be in holye conuersacyon and Godlynes:
