⁴² Wake therfor, because ye knowe not what houre your maister wyl come.

³⁶ But of that daye and houre knoweth no man, no not the aungels of heauen, but my father onelye.

⁴⁴ Therfore be ye also redye, for in the houre ye thinke he woulde not, wyll the sonne of man come.

¹³ watche therfore: for ye knowe neither the daye nor yet the houre when the sonne of man shall come.

³⁸ Then said Iesus vnto them: my soule is heauy euen to the death. Tary ye here & watche with me. ³⁹ And he went a lytell aparte, and fell flat on hys face and prayed sayinge: O my father, yf it be possible, let thys cup passe from me: neuerthelesse not as I wyll, but as thou wilte. ⁴⁰ And he came vnto the discyples, and founde them a slepe, & sayd to Peter: what, could ye not watche with me one houre: ⁴¹ watche and praye, that ye fall not into temptacion. The spirite is ready, & the fleshe is weake.

³³ Take hede, watche and pray, forth ye know not when the tyme is. ³⁴ As a man whiche is gone into a straunge countreye, and hath left hys house, and geuen authorite to his seruauntes, and euerye man hys worke, and commaunded the porter to watche. ³⁵ Watche therfore, for ye knowe not when the mayster of the house wyll come: whether at euen, or at mydnyght: whether at the cocke crowynge or in the dawnynge, ³⁶ leste yf he come sodenlye, he shoulde fynde you slepynge. ³⁷ And that I saye vnto you: I saye vnto all men, watche.

³⁵ Let youre loynes be gerdde aboute, & your lyghtes brennynge, ³⁶ and ye youre selues lyke vnto men, that wayte for theyr maister, when he wyll returne from a weddyng: that assone as he commeth and knocketh, they may open vnto hym. ³⁷ Happye are those seruauntes, whom the Lorde when he commeth, shall fynde wakynge: Verely I saye vnto you, he wyll girde hym selfe aboute, and make them sytte doune to meate, & walke by, & mynyster vnto them. ³⁸ And yf he come in the seconde watche, yea yf he come in the thyrd watche, and shal fynd them so: happye are those seruauntes. ³⁹ Thys vnderstande, that yf the good man of the house knewe what houre that these would come, he woulde surely watche, and not suffer hys house to be broken vp. ⁴⁰ Be ye prepared therfore: for the sonne of man will come at an houre, when ye thynke not.

³⁶ Watche therfore contynuallye and praye, that ye may obtayne grace to flye all this that shal come, and that ye may stande before the sonne of man.

¹¹ Thys also we knowe, I meane the season, howe that it is tyme, that we should now awake oute of slepe. For nowe is oure saluacyon nearer, then when we beleued.

¹³ Watche ye, stande faste in the fayth, quyte you lyke men and be stronge,

⁶ Therfore let vs not slepe as do other: but let vs watche & be sober.

⁷ The ende of al thinges is at hande. Be ye therfore discrete and sober, that ye maye be apt to prayers.

⁸ Be sober and watch, for your aduersary the deuyll as a roringe Lyon walketh aboute, sekinge whom he may deuour,

² Be awake & strengthe the thinges whiche remayne, that are ready to dye. For I haue not founde thy workes perfecte before God. ³ Remember therfore howe thou hast receiued and hearde, and hold faste & repent. Yf thou shalt not watche, I wyl come on the as a thiefe, and thou shalt not knowe, what hour I wil come vpon the.

¹⁵ Beholde I come as a thefe. Happye is he that watcheth & kepeth his garmentes, least he be founde naked, and men se hys filthynes.
