⁶ he is not here, but is rysen. Remember howe he spake vnto you, when he was yet with you in Galile,

⁴⁰ For as Ionas was thre dayes and thre nyghtes in the whales bellye: so shall the sonne of man be thre dayes and thre nyghtes in the herte of the earth.

²¹ From that time forth Iesus beganne to shew vnto hys disciples, how that he must go vnto Ierusalem, and suffer many thinges of the elders, and of the hygh priestes, and of the scribes, and must be kylled: and ryse agayne the thyrde daye.

²² As they passed the tyme in Galile, Iesus sayde vnto them: the sonne of man shalbe betrayed into the handes of men, ²³ and they shall kyll hym, and the thyrde daye he shall ryse agayne. And they sorowed greatly.

¹⁸ Beholde we go vp to Ierusalem, and the sonne of man shalbe betrayed vnto the chief priestes and vnto the scribes: and they shal condemne hym to death, ¹⁹ and shall deliuer hym to the gentels, to be mocked, to be scourged, & to be crucified, and the thirde daye he shall rise agayne.

⁶³ and sayd: Syr, we remembre that this deceyuer sayed whyle he was yet alyue. After thre daies I will aryse agayne.

⁶ he is not here: he is rysen as he sayd. Come & se the place where the Lord was put,

³¹ And he began to teache them: howe that the sonne of man must suffer many thinges, and should be reproued of the elders and of the priestes and scribes, and be killed, and after thre dayes ryse agayne.

⁹ And as they came doune from the hyll, he charged theym that they shoulde tell no man what they had sene, tyl the sonne of man were rysen from death agayne. ¹⁰ And they kepte the saying with them, and demaunded one of another, what that rising from death agayn should meane?

³⁰ And they departed thence, and toke theyr iorney through Galile, and he would not that any man should haue knowen it. ³¹ For he taught his disciples, and sayde vnto them: the sonne of man shalbe deliuered into the handes of men, and they shall kyll hym, and after that he is kylled he shall ryse agayne the thyrde daye. ³² But they wiste not what that saying meante, and were afrayed to axe hym.

³³ Beholde, we go vp to Hierusalem and the sonne of man shalbe delyuered into the handes of the hye priestes, and vnto the Scribes: and they shall condempne hym to death, and shall delyuer hym to the gentyls: ³⁴ and they shal mocke him, & schourge him and spyte vpon hym, and kyl hym. And the thyrd daye he shall ryse agayne.

²² saiynge: that the sonne of man muste suffer manye thinges, and be reproued of the elders, and of the hye pryestes and scrybes and be slayne, & the thirde daye ryse agayne.

⁴⁴ Let these sayinges sinke doune into your eares. The tyme wil come, when the sonne of man shalbe delyuered into the handes of men.

³¹ He toke vnto hym twelue, and sayed vnto them. Beholde we go vp to Hierusalem, & all shal be fulfylled that are wryten by the Prophetes of the sonne of man. ³² He shalbe deliuered vnto the gentils, and shalbe mocked, and shalbe dispytefully entreated, and shalbe spitted on, ³³ and when they haue scourged him, they wyll put hym to death, and the thyrde daye he shall ryse agayn.

⁴⁴ And he sayde vnto them: These are the wordes which I spake vnto you, whyle I was yet with you: that al muste be fulfilled which was written of me in lawe of Moyses and in the prophetes and in the Psalmes. ⁴⁵ Then opened he their wittes, that they myght vnderstande the scriptures, ⁴⁶ and sayde vnto them: Thus is it written, and thus it behoued Christ to suffer: and to ryse agayne from death the thirde day,
