⁵³ When I was dayly with you in temple, ye stretched not forth handes agaynste me. But this is euen youre verye houre, and the power of darcknes.

²¹ But the Philistines toke hym and put out his eyes, and brought him doune to Gaza, and bounde hym wyth fetters And he was made to grynde in the pryson house, ²² how be it the heare of his head began to grow agayn, after that he was shorne. ²³ Then the Lordes of the Philistines gathered them together, for to offer a solempne offringe vnto Dagon their God, and to reioice: for they sayd, our God hath deliuered Samson oure enemie into oure handes. ²⁴ And when the people sawe hym, they praised their God: for they sayd oure God hath delyuered into our handes oure enemye, that destroied oure countreye and slue manye of vs. ²⁵ And when theyr hertes were merye, they sayd: sende for Samson, and let hym playe for vs. And they sette Samson out of the prisonhouse, and he plaied before them, and they set him betwene the pillers. ²⁶ And Samson sayde vnto the lad, that ledd him by the hande: set me that I maye touche the pyllers that the house stand vpon, and that I maye leane to them. ²⁷ And the house was ful of men and women. And there was al the Lordes of the Philistines. And there were vpon the roufe a thre thousand men and women, that behelde how Samson played. ²⁸ And Samson called vnto the Lorde, and sayde: my Lorde Iehouah thynke vpon me, and strengthen me, at this tyme only o God, that I maye be aduenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. ²⁹ And Samson caughte the two middel pyllers, on which the house stode and on which it was borne vp, the one in hys right hande, and the other in hys lefte, ³⁰ and sayde: my soule dye with the Philistines, and bowed them wyth myght. And the house fell vpon the Lordes, and vpon al the people that were therin. And so the dead which he slewe at his death, were mo then they, which he slew in his lyfe.

⁵ the prayse of the vngodlye hath bene shorte, and that the ioye of ypocrites continued but the twyncklyng of an eye?

¹² And Iesus wente into the temple of God, and caste out all them that soulde and bought in the temple, & ouerthrewe the tables of the money chaungers, & the seates of them that solde doues, ¹³ and sayde to them: It is writen, my house shalbe called the house of prayer. But ye haue made it a denne of theues. ¹⁴ And the blind and the halt came to hym in the temple and he healed them. ¹⁵ When the chiefe priestes sawe the marueylles that he dyd, and the chyldren criynge in the temple and saying: Hosanna to the sonne of Dauid, they disdayned,

²³ And when he was come into the temple, the chiefe Priestes and the elders of that people came vnto hym as he was teachynge, and sayde. By what auctoritie doest thou these thynges and who gaue the thys power?

⁴⁵ And when the chiefe priestes and pharyses hearde these similitudes, they perceyued that he spake of them. ⁴⁶ And they wente aboute to laye handes on hym, but they feared the people, because they toke hym as a Prophete.

³⁷ In the daye tyme, he taught in the tempell and at night, he went out and had abiding in the mounte Oliuete. ³⁸ And all the people came in the morninge to hym in the tempell, for to heare hym.

²⁵ Then sayde some of them of Hierusalem: is not this he whom they go aboute to kyll? ²⁶ Beholde he speaketh boldly, & they say nothinge to him: Do the rulers knowe in dede that this is very Christe?

³⁰ Then they sought to take hym: but no man layde handes on hym, because his tyme was not yet come.

⁴⁵ Then came the ministers to the hye priestes and Phariseis. And they sayd vnto them: why haue ye not brought hym?

²⁷ Nowe is my soule troubled, and what shal I saye? Father delyuer me from thys houre: but therfore came I vnto thys houre.

³⁰ Here after will I not talke manye wordes vnto you. For the ruler of thys world cometh and hath noughte in me.

²⁰ Verely verely I say vnto you: ye shall wepe and lament, & the world shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe, but your sorow shalbe turned into ioye. ²¹ A woman when she trauayleth, hathe sorowe, because her houre is come: but assone as she is deliuered of the child she remembreth no more the anguish, for ioye that a man is borne into the worlde. ²² And ye now are in sorow: but I wyll se you agayne, and youre hertes shall reioyce, and youre ioye shall no man take from you.

¹⁸ to open theyr eyes, that they myght turne from darckenes to lyght, and from the power of Satan vnto God: that they maye receiue forgeuenes of synnes, and inheritaunce amonge them whyche are sanctyfyed by fayth in me.

³ Yf oure Gospell be yet hyd, it is hyd among them that are loste, ⁴ in whome the God of thys worlde hath blynded the myndes of them which beleue not, leste the lyght of the gloryous gospell of Christe which is the ymage of God shoulde shyne vnto them. ⁵ For we preache not oure selues, but Christ Iesus to be the Lorde, and oure selues youre seuauntes for Iesus sake. ⁶ For it is God that commaunded the lighte to shyne out of darknes, whiche hath shyned in oure hertes, for to geue the lyghte of the knoweledge of the glorye of God, in the face of Iesus Christe.

¹² For we wrestle not againste fleshe and bloude: but against rule, agaynst power, and againste worldlye rulers of the darckenes of thys worlde, againste spyrytuall wickednes, for heauenly thynges.

¹³ Which hath deliuered vs from the power of darcknes and hath translated vs into the kyngdome of his deare sonne,

⁹ And the great dragon, that olde serpente called the deuyll and Sathanas was caste out. Whiche deceyueth al the worlde. And he was cast into the earth, and his angelles were cast out also. ¹⁰ And I hearde a loude voyce sayinge: in heauen is nowe made saluacyon, and strength and the kyngdome of our God, and the power of hys Christe. For he is caste doune, whyche accused them before God daye and nyghte. ¹¹ And they ouercame hym by the bloude of the lambe, and by the worde of theyr testimony, and they loued not theyr liues vnto the death. ¹² Therfore reioyse heauens, and ye that dwell in them, Wo to the inhabiters of the earth, & of the sea, for the deuyll is come doune vnto you, which hath great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a shorte tyme.
