Then yf the soore be waxed blackesh, & is not growen abroode in the skynne, let the Preast make him cleane, for it is but a skyrf. And let hym wasshe his clothes, & then he is cleane. ⁷ But & yf the scabbe growe in the skynne after that he is sene of the Preast agayne. ⁸ If the Preast se that the scabbe be growen abrode in the skynne, let him make him vncleane: for it is surely a leprosye. ⁹ If the plage of leprosie be in a man, let him be brought vnto the Preast, ¹⁰ & let the Preaste se hym. If the rysyng appeare whyte in the skynne, & haue also made the heyre whyte, & there be rawe flesh in the sore also: ¹¹ then it is an old leprosye in the skynne of his flesh. And the Preast shall iudge him vnclene, and shal not shutte hym vp for he is vncleane. ¹² If a leprosye breake out in the skynne and couer all the skynne from the heed to the foote ouer all whersoeuer the Preast loketh, ¹³ then let the Preast loke vpon hym. If the leprosye haue couered al his fleshe, let hym iudge the dysease clene: for in as moche as he is altogether whyte he is therfore cleane. ¹⁴ But and yf there be rawe flesh on him when he is sene, then he shalbe vncleane. ¹⁵ Therfore when the Preast seeth the rawe flesh, let him iudge hym vnclene. For in as moche as hys fleshe is rawe, he is vnclene and it is surely a true leprosye. ¹⁶ But and yf the rawe flesh departe agayne & chaunge vnto whyte, then let hym come to the prest, ¹⁷ & let the Preast se hym: If the soore be chaunged vnto whyte, let the Preast iudge the dysease cleane, and then he is cleane. ¹⁸ When there is a byle in the skynne of any mans flesh and is healed ¹⁹ & after in the place of the byle there appeare a whyte rysing ether a shynyng whyte somwhat reddysh, let hym be sene of the Preast. ²⁰ If when the Preast seyth hym it appeare lower than the other skynne & the heyre therof be chaunged vnto white, let the Preast iudge hym vncleane: for it is a very leprosye, that is broken out in the place of the byle. ²¹ But and yf when the Preast loketh on it there be no whyte heyres therin nether the scabbe lower then the other skynne and be somwhat blackesh, then the Preast shall shutt him aparte .vij. dayes. ²² If it sprede abrode in the meane ceason, then let the Preast iudge hym vncleane: for it is a leprosye. ²³ But and yf the glystrynge whyte abyde styl in one place & go no further, then it is but the prynte of the byle, and the Preast shall iudge hym cleane. ²⁴ When the skynne of any mans flesh is burnt with fyre that it be rawe & there appere in the burnyng a glistring whyte that is somwhat reddysh or altogether whyte, ²⁵ let the Preast loke vpon it. If the heyre in that bryghtnesse be chaunged to whyte, and it also appeare lower then the other skynne, then it is a leprosye that is broken out of the place of the burning. And the Preast shal iudge him vncleane, for it is a leprosye. ²⁶ But and yf (when the Preast loketh on it) he se that there is no whyte heyre in the bryghtenesse, & that it is no lower then the other skynne, & that it is also blackesh, then let the preast shut him vp .vij. dayes. ²⁷ And yf (when the Preast loketh on him the .vij. day) it be growen abrode in the skynne, let hym iudge hym vncleane: for it is a leprosye. ²⁸ But and yf that bryghtnesse abyde styl in one place & go no further in the skynne & be blackesh, then it is but a rysynge in the place of the burnynge, and the Preast shall make hym cleane: for it is but the prynte of the burnyng only. ²⁹ When ether man or woman hath a breakyng out vpon the heed or the beerde, let the preast se it. ³⁰ And yf it appeare lower than the other skynne, & ther be therin golden heyres & thyn, let the preast iudge hym vncleane, for it is a breakyng out of leprosye vpon the heed or berde. ³¹ If (when the Preast loketh on the breakynge out) he se that it is no lower then the other skynne & that there are blacke heyres therin, let hym shut hym vp .vij. dayes. ³² And let the preast loke on the dysease the .vij. day: & yf the breakyng out be gone no forther nether be any golden heyres therin nether the scabbe be lower then the other skynne, ³³ then let him be shauen, but let hym not shaue the scabbe: & let the preast shut hym vp .vij. dayes moo. ³⁴ And let the preast loke on the breakyng out the .vij. day agayn: If the breakynge out be gone no further in the skynne nor moore lower then the other skynne, then let the preast iudge hym cleane, and let hym wasshe hys clothes, & then he is cleane. ³⁵ If the breakyng out growe in the skynne after that he is once iudged cleane, ³⁶ let the Preast sea him. If it be growne abrode in dede in the skynne, let the preast seke no further for any golden heyres, for he is vncleane. ³⁷ But and yf he se that the scabbe stande styll, & that there is blacke heyre growne vp therin, then the scabbe is healed and he is cleane: & the Preast shal iudge him cleane. ³⁸ If there be found in the skynne of the flesh of man or woman a glysteryng whyte, ³⁹ let the Preast se it. If there appeare in theyr flesh a glysteryng whyte somwhat blackesh then it is but frekels growen vp in the skinne: and he is cleane. ⁴⁰ If a mans heyre fal of his heed, then he is heed baulde & cleane. ⁴¹ If his heyre fal before in his foreheed, then he is foreheedbald and cleane. ⁴² If there be in the bauld heed or bauld foreheed a reddish whyte scabbe, then there is leprosye spronge vp in hys baulde heed or baulde foreheede. ⁴³ And let the preast se it: and yf the rysyng of the sore be reddysh whyte in his baulde heede or foreheed after the maner of a leprosie in the skynne of the flesh, ⁴⁴ then he is a leper & vncleane: & the Preast shal iudge him vncleane, for the plage of his heed. ⁴⁵ And the leper in whome the plage is, shall haue his clothes rent & his heede bare & hys mouth moffeld, & shalbe called vncleane. ⁴⁶ And as long as the dysease lasteth vpon him, he shalbe vncleane: for he is vncleane, and shall therfore dwel alone, & euen without the host shal hys habitacion be.

If the plage of leprosye be healed in the leper, ⁴ then shal the Preast commaunde that there be brought for hym that shalbe clensed two lyuynge byrdes that are cleane, and cedar wood, and a pece of purple cloth and ysope. ⁵ And the Preast shall commaunde that one of the byrdes be killed in an erthen vessel wyth renning water. ⁶ And the Preast shall take the lyuyng byrde and the cedar wood and the purple & the ysope, & shall dyppe them and the lyuyng byrde in the bloude of the slayne byrde, & in the renning water ⁷ & sprynkle it vpon him that must be clensed of hys leprosye seuen tymes and clense him, and shal let the lyuyng byrd goo fre in to the feldes. ⁸ And he that is clensed shall wasshe hys clothes and shaue of al hys heyre, and wash him self in water, and then he is cleane. And after that he shall come into the hoste, but shall tarye wythout hys tent seuen dayes. ⁹ When the seuenth day is come, he shal shaue of al hys heyre bothe vpon his heade & hys berde & on hys browes: & euen al the heyre that is on him, shalbe shauen of. And he shal wash hys clothes and his flesh in water, and then he shalbe cleane. ¹⁰ And when the .viij. day is come, let him take .ij. lambes without blemyshe & a yewe lambe of a yere olde without blemysh, and .iij. tenth deales of fyne floure for a meatoffring myngled wyth oyle, and logge of oyle. ¹¹ Than let the Preast that maketh him cleane, bring the man that is made cleane wyth those thinges before the Lorde vnto the dore of the tabernacle of wytnesse. ¹² And let the Preast take one of the lambes & offer hym for a trespace offryng, and the logge of oyle: and waue them before the Lorde. ¹³ And then let hym slee the lambe in the place where the synneoffrynge and the burntoffryng are slayne: euen in the holy place. For as the synneoffring is, euen so is the trespace offryng the Preastes: for it is moost holy. ¹⁴ Then let the Preast take of the bloude of the trespace offryng, & put it vpon the typpe of the ryght eare of him that is clensed, and vpon the thombe of hys ryght hande, and vpon the great too of hys ryghte fote. ¹⁵ Then let the Preast take of the logge of oyle, and poure it into the palme of hys lefte hande, ¹⁶ & dyppe hys ryght fynger in the oyle that is in the palme of hys left hande, and let hym sprynkle it with hys fynger .vij. tymes before the Lord. ¹⁷ And of the rest of the oyle that is in hys hande, shal the preast put vpon the typpe of the ryghte eare of hym that is clensed, and vpon the thombe of hys ryght hand, and vpon the great too of hys ryght foote: euen vpon the bloud of the trespaceoffryng. ¹⁸ And the remnaunte of the oyle that is in the Preastes hande, he shal poure vpon the heed of hym that is cleansed: & so shal the Preaste make an attonement for hym before the Lorde. ¹⁹ Then let the Preast offer the sinneoffring and make an attonement for him that is clensed for his vnclennesse. And then let the burntoffryng be slayne, ²⁰ and let the preast put both the burntoffrynge & the meatoffrynge vpon the alter: & make an attonement for him, and then he shalbe cleane. ²¹ If he be poore and can not get so moch, then let hym bryng one lambe for a trespace offring to waue it and to make an attonement for him, and a tenth deale of fyne floure myngled wyth oyle for a meat offryng, and a logge of oyle, ²² & two turtyl doues or two yonge pygeons which he is able to get, & let the one be a synneoffrynge and the other a burntoffryng. ²³ And let him bryng them the .viij. day for hys clensyng vnto the preast to the dore of the tabernacle of wytnesse before the Lorde. ²⁴ And let the Preast take the lambe that is the trespace offryng & the logge of oyle, and waue them before the Lorde. ²⁵ And when the lambe of the trespaceoffrynge is kylled, the Preast shal take of the bloud of the trespace offrynge, and put it vpon the typpe of hys ryghte eare that is clensed, and vpon the thombe of hys ryghte hande, and vpon the greate too of hys ryght fote. ²⁶ And the preast shall poure of the oyle into hys ryght hand, ²⁷ and shall sprynkle wyth his fynger of the oyle that is in hys left hande seuen tymes before the Lorde. ²⁸ And the Preast shall put on the oyle that is in his hand vpon the typpe of the right eare of hym that is clensed, & vpon the thombe of hys ryght hande, & vpon the great too of hys ryght fote: euen in the place where the bloud of the trespaceoffryng was put. ²⁹ And the rest of the oyle that is in his hand, he shall poure vpon the heed of hym that is clensed: to make an attonement for him before the Lord. ³⁰ And he shall offer one of the turtyl doues or of the young pigeons, soche as he can gett: ³¹ the one for a synne offerynge & the other for a burntoffryng vpon the alter. And so shal the Preast make an attonement for him that is clensed before the Lorde. ³² Thys is the lawe of hym that hath the plage of leprosye, whose hande is not able to get that whyche pertayneth to hys clensynge.

¹⁷ Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thyne hart but shalt in anye wyse rebuke thy neyghboure: that thou bere not synne for hys sake.

² commaunde the chyldren of Israel that they put out of the host, al the leapers & all that haue yssues and al that are defyled vpon the dead, ³ whether they be males or females ye shall put them oute of the hoste, that they defyle not the tentes among whych ye dwell.

¹⁴ And the Lord sayd vnto Moses: If her father had spitte in her face should she not be ashamed .vii. dayes, let her be shutte out of the hoste .vij. dayes, and after that let her be receyued in agayne.

⁹ Take hede to thy selfe therfore only & kepe thy soule diligently, that thou forget not the thynges whych thyne eyes haue sene, & that they departe not oute of thyne herte, all the dayes of thy lyfe: but teach them thy sonnes and thy sonnes sonnes.

¹⁵ Take hede vnto youre selues diligentlye as pertaynynge vnto youre Soules, for ye sawe no maner of ymage the daye when the Lorde spake vnto you in Horeb out of the fire lest ye marre your selues

²³ Take hede to your selues therefore, that ye forgett not the appoyntment of the Lorde your god which he made with you, & that ye make you no grauen ymage of whatoeuer it be that the Lorde thy God hath forbydden the.

¹⁰ And when the lord thy God hath brought the into the land which he sware vnto thy fathers Abraham, Isaac & Iacob, to gyue the with great & goodly cityes which thou buildedst not, ¹¹ & houses full of all maner goodes which thou filledest not, and welles dygged whych thou dyggedest not, & vynes & olyue trees which thou plantedest not, & when thou hast eaten and art ful: ¹² Then beware lest thou forget the Lorde whych brought the oute of the lande of Egipt the house of bondage.

¹² yea, & when thou hast eaten and fylled thy selfe and hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein, ¹³ & when thy beasse and thy shepe are waxed manye & thy syluer and golde is multiplied & al that thou hast encreased, ¹⁴ then beware lest thyne herte ryse & thou forget the Lorde thy God which brought the out of the land of Egypt the house of bondage,

²³ how all the land is burnt vp wyth bremstone & salt, & that it is nether sowne nor beareth, nor any grasse groweth therin, after the ouerthrowing of Sodome, Gomor, Adama and Zeboim: which the Lord ouerthrewe in his wrath and angre. ²⁴ And then shal al nacions also say: wherfore hath the Lorde done of this facion vnto this lande? O how fearse is this great wrath? ²⁵ And men shal saye: because they lefte the testament of the Lorde God of their fathers which he made with them, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

²¹ But the Philistines toke hym and put out his eyes, and brought him doune to Gaza, and bounde hym wyth fetters And he was made to grynde in the pryson house,

⁷ And the Lord sayd vnto Samuel: heare the voyce of the people in all that they say vnto the. For they haue not cast the awaye, but me: that I shulde not raygne ouer them.

¹⁹ And ye haue this day cast awaye youre God that holpe you oute of al youre aduersities & trybulacyons. And ye haue sayde vnto him, make a kyng ouer vs. Now therfore stande before the Lord by your trybes & youre thousandes.

³⁶ And when Abigail came to Nabal: behold he helde a feaste in his house like the feast of a kynge, and Nabals herte was mery within him, and he was droncke a good. Wherfore she tolde hym naught nether lytle nor more, vntil to morow daye. ³⁷ But in the mornynge, when the wyne was gone out of Nabal, hys wyfe tolde him those wordes, and hys herte dyed within him, and he became as a stone, ³⁸ and vpon a ten dayes after the Lorde smote Nabal, that he dyed.

²⁰ Then Dauid arose from the earth, & wasshed & anoynted hym self & chaunged his apparell, & went into the house of the Lorde & prayed, & after came to hys owne house & bade that they shulde set meate before hym, and he dyd eate.

¹⁴ Then he went doune & washed seuen tymes in Iordan, as the man of God bade, & his flesh chaunced, lyke vnto the flesh of a lyttel boye, and he was cleane.

²⁷ The leprosye therfore of Naaman claue vnto the, & vnto thy seede for euer. And he went out from hym a leper as whit as snowe.

³ And there were foure lepers set withoute the Gate of Samaria. And they sayde eche to hys companyon, what syt we here vntyll we dye?

¹⁴ For what am I? and what is my people? that we shulde obtayne strengthe to be so wyllynge? But all is of the, and of that we receyued of thyne hand we haue geuen the. ¹⁵ For we be but straungers before the and tenauntes, as were all oure fathers. Oure dayes on the earth is but a shadowe, and there is none abydynge. ¹⁶ O Lorde oure God, all thys kepe that we haue prepared to buylde the an house for thy holy name, cometh of thyne hande, & is all thyne.

⁶ and sayde to the iudges: take hede what ye do for ye be not iudges in the lawe of man, but of God, whyche is wyth you in the wordes of the law. ⁷ Wherfore let the feare of the lord be wyth you, and take hede and do it. For there is no vnryghteousnesse in the Lord our God nor regarding of persones, nor taking of rewardes.

²⁰ And Asariah the chefe priest with al the other priestes loked vpon him: and beholde he was a leper in his forhead, & they vexed him thence. And therto he was fayne to go oute, because the Lord had plaged him. ²¹ And Oziah the kynge continued a lepre vnto the daye of his death & dwelte in an house at lybertie: howe be it, he was cast out of the house of the Lord. And Ionatham his sonne had the gouernaunce of the kynges house & iudged the people of the lande.

²⁴ In those dayes Hezekiah was sycke vnto the deeth and besought the Lorde: whiche answered him and shewed hym a wonderful miracle: ²⁵ But Hezekiah dyd not according to the curtesy shewed him, for his hert arose: & therfore came there wrath vpon him & vpon Iuda and Ierusalem. ²⁶ Not withstanding Hezekiah mekened him selfe for that a rysing of hys herte, both he and the enhabyters of Ierusalem. Wherfore the wrath of the Lord fel not vpon them in the dayes of Hezekiah.

⁴ Sathan answered the Lorde, and sayde: Skynne for skynne? yee a man will geue all that euer he hath, for his lyfe.

⁹ Their houses are safe from all feare, for the road of God doth not smyte them. ¹⁰ Their bullocke grendeth, and that not oute of tyme: their cowe calueth, and is not vnfrutefull. ¹¹ They sende forth their children by flockes, and their sonnes lead the daunce. ¹² They beare with them tabrettes and harpes, & haue instrumentes of musycke at their pleasure. ¹³ They spent their dayes in welthinesse: but sodenlye they go doune to hel.

² May a man be compared vnto God in wysdome, though he seme to hym selfe, for to be lyke him? ³ What pleasure hath God in that thou art righteous? Or what doth it profyte him, that thy waies are perfecte?

¹⁵ Well thou wilt kepe the olde waye, that all wicked men haue gone: ¹⁶ bothe olde and young, whose foundacyon is a runninge water, ¹⁷ whiche say vnto God: go from vs, and after this maner: Tush, what wyll the Almyghty do vnto vs? ¹⁸ where as he (notwithstandinge) fylleth their houses wyth all good Whyche meanyng of the vngodly be farre from me.

⁶ If thou sinnest, what doest thou vnto hym? If thyne offences be manye, howe gettest thou his fauoure? ⁷ Yf thou be ryghteous what geuest thou hym? Or what receyueth he of thy handes?

³ He gouerneth euery thing vnder the heauen, & his lyghte reacheth vnto the ende of the worlde. ⁴ A roarynge voyce foloweth hym: for hys gloryous maiestye geueth suche a thondre clappe, that (though a man heare it) yet may he not perceiue it afterward. It geueth an horryble sounde,

²⁹ From thence maye he beholde his praye, and loke farre aboute wyth hys eyes. ³⁰ His younge ones are fed with bloude, & where any deade bodye lyeth, there is he immediatly.

² I haue saide vnto the Lord: thou art my God, my goodes are nothing vnto the. ³ All my delytes is vpon the saynctes that are in the earth, and vpon suche lyke.

⁹ O destroy not my soule wyth the sinners nor my lyfe with the bloudthursty.

³ O plucke me not awaye amonge the vngodly and wickeddoers, which speake frendly to their neyghboure, but ymagin mischefe in their hertes.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid. Ascribe vnto the Lorde, O ye mightie, ascribe vnto the Lord worship and strength. ² Geue the Lord the honour of his name bow your selues to the holy magesty of the Lord,

¹ A Psalme and songe of the dedicatiou of the house of Dauid. I wyll magnifye the, O Lord, for thou hast set me vp, and not suffred my foes to triumphe ouer me. ² O Lord my God, I cried vnto the, and thou hast healed me.

¹¹ And so thou hast turned my heuynesse into ioye: thou haste put of my sacke cloth, & gyrded me with gladnesse. ¹² That mine honoure myght synge praises vnto the without ceasyng: O Lord my God, I wil geue thankes vnto the for euer.

⁶ Let their waye be darcke and slippery, & the aungell of the Lorde to persecute them. ⁷ For they haue priuely layed their nette to destroye me without a cause, yea, & made a pytte for my soule, which I neuer deserued.

²³ Who so offreth me thankes and prayse, he honoureth me: & this is the way, wherby I wyll shewe hym the sauynge healthe of God.

¹ Of Dauid. Prayse the Lorde O my soule: & all that is within me prayse hys holy name. ² Prayse the Lord O my soule & forget not all his benefites. ³ Whych forgeueth all thy synnes, & healeth all thyne infirmities. ⁴ Which saueth thy lyfe from destruccion, and crouneth the with mercy, and louynge kyndnesse.

¹³ But within a whyle they forgat his workes, and wold not abyde his councel.

²⁰ He sent hys worde and healed them, and saued them from destruccion. ²¹ O that men woulde prayse the goodnesse of the Lord, and the wonders that he doth for the chyldren of men. ²² That they wolde offre vnto him the sacrifice of thankesgeuyng, & tell out hys workes with gladnes.

¹² What rewarde shall I geue vnto the Lorde, for all the benyfytes that he hath done vnto me? ¹³ I wyl receyue the, cuppe of saluacion, and call vpon the name of the Lord. ¹⁴ I wyll paye my vowes in the presence of al his people, ¹⁵ right deare in the syghte of the Lorde is the death of his saynctes.

¹⁸ The Lorde hath chastened and correcte me, but he hath not geuen me ouer vnto deathe. ¹⁹ Open me the gates of ryghtuousnes, that I maye go in there thorowe, and geue thanckes vnto the Lord.

⁵ Let the righteous rather smite me frindly, & reproue me: so will I take it, as though he had poured oyle vpon my head: it shall not hurt my head, yea, I will praye yet for theyr wickednesse.

⁸ Reproue not a scorner, lest he owe the euel wil: but rebuke a wise man, & he wil loue the.

² A man thynketh al his waies to be cleane, but it is the Lord that fashyoneth the mindes ³ Commit thy workes the Lord, and loke what thou deuisest, it shal prospere.

¹⁰ One reprofe only doth more good to him that hath vnderstandinge then an .C. stripes vnto a fole.

⁵ An open rebuke is beter then a secrete loue.

⁹ And excepte the Lord of hostes had lefte vs a fewe alyue: we shulde haue ben as Sodoma, and lyke vnto Gomorra.

⁵ Then I sayde: O wo is me. For I was astonished: that I (which am a man of vncleane lippes and dwell amonge people that hath vncleane lyppes also) shulde se the kynge and the Lorde of hostes wyth myne eyes.

¹⁹ And Babylon (that glory of kingedomes and bewtye of the Caldees honoure) shalbe destroied, euen as God destroyed Sodome and Gomorra.

⁴ Myne herte panted, I trembled for feare. The darcknesse made me fearfull in in my mynde.

¹² And at the same tyme shall the Lorde of Hostes call men to wepinge, mourninge, to baldnesse & puttynge on of sacke clothe. ¹³ But they to fulfil their lust and wilfulnes, slaughter oxen: they kyll shepe, they eate costly meate, and drincke wyne, let vs eate and drincke, to morow we shall dye. ¹⁴ Neuerthelesse when the Lorde of Hostes hearde of it, he sayde: yea, yf this wyckednes of yours shalbe remytted, ye must dye for it. This hathe the Lorde of Hostes spoken.

¹⁹ but the lyuyng, yee the liuinge acknowledge the, lyke as I do thys daye. The father telleth hys chyldren of thy faythfulnesse. ²⁰ Delyuer vs (O Lorde) and we wyll singe prayses in thy house, all the dayes of oure life. ²¹ And Esay sayde: take a playster of fygges, and laye it vpon the sore, so shall it be whole. ²² Then sayd Hezekiah: O what a great thinge is this, that I shall go vp into the house of the Lorde.

¹¹ He shall fede his flock lyke an herdman. He shall gather the lambes together with his arme, and carie them in hys bosome, and shall kyndlye intreate those that beare yonge.

⁹ shewe yow these newe tydynges, and tell you them or they come, for olde thynges also are come to passe.

¹² ascribinge almightynes vnto the Lorde, and magnifying hym amonge the Gentyles.

³ He shalbe the most simple, and despysed of all, which yet hath good experience of sorowes & infyrmyties. We shall reken him so symple and so vyle, that we shall hyde our faces from hym.

⁶ We are al as vncleane thinge, and all oure ryghteousnesses are as the clothes defyled with the floures of a woman: we fall euerychone as the leafe, for oure synnes carye vs awaie like the winde.

²⁴ And it shalbe, that or euer they call, I shall answere them. While they are yet but thinckinge howe to speake. I shal heare them.

⁵ And sekest thou yet promocyon? Loke not for it, and desire it not. For I wyll bryng a miserable plage vpon all fleshe sayeth the Lord. But thy lyfe will I geue the for a pray wheresoeuer thou goest.

⁴⁰ Lyke as God destroyed Sodome and Gomorre, with the cities that laye there aboute, sayeth the Lord: So shall no man dwell there also, nether shall any man haue there hys habitacyon.

⁴ and the Lorde sayde vnto hym: Go thy waye thorow the cytie of Ierusalem, and set thys marcke Than vpon the foreheades of them, that mourne & are sory for all the abhomynacyons, that be done therin. ⁵ And to the other, he sayde that I myght heare: Go ye after hym thorow the cytye, slaye, ouerse none, spare none: ⁶ kyl and destroye bothe olde men and yonge, maydens, chyldren, and wyues. But as for those, that haue thys marcke Than vpon them: se that ye touche them not, & begynne at my sanctuarye. Then they began at the elders, whiche were in the temple,

⁴⁹ Beholde, the sinnes of thy sister Sodoma were these: Pryde, fulnesse of meate, aboundaunce and Idelnesse: these thynges had she and her doughters. Besydes that, they reached not their hande to the pore and nedy, ⁵⁰ but were proude, and dyd abhomynable thinges before me: therfore I toke them awaye, when I had sene it.

⁴⁴ In the dayes of these kinges shall the God of heauen set vp an euerlastynge kyngdome whiche shall not peryshe, and hys kyngdome shall not be geuen ouer to another people: yea the same shal breake and destroy al these kingdomes, but it shall endure foreuer.

²⁶ After these .lxii. weakes shall Christ be slaine and they shall haue no pleasure in hym. Then shall there come a people with the Prince, and destroye the cytie and the Sanctuarye: & his ende shall come as the water floude. But the desolacion shall continue till the ende of the battell. ²⁷ He shall make a stronge bonde with many, for the space of a weke: and when the weke is halfe gone, he shall put doune the slayne and meateofferinge. And in the temple there shalbe an abhominable desolacion, till it haue destroyed all. And it is concluded, that thys wasting shall continue vnto the ende.

⁸ What greate thinges haue I geuen the, O Ephraim? how faythfully haue I defended the, O Israel? haue I dealt wt the as with Adama? or haue I entreated the lyke Seboim? No, my herte is otherwyse minded. Yea, my mercye is to feruent:

¹¹ Some of you haue I ouerthrowen, as I ouerthrew Sodome and Gomorre, so that ye were as brand plucte oute of the fyre. Yet wyll ye not turne vnto me, sayeth the Lorde.

¹ I sawe the Lord standynge vpon the aulter, and he sayde; smyte the dore cheke, that the postes maye shake withall. For theyr couetousnesse shal fall vpon al their heades, and their posterite shalbe slayne wyth the swerde. They shall not fle awaye, there shall not one of them escape, ner be delyuered. ² Though they were buryed in the hell, my hande shall fetch them from thence: though they clymme vp to heauen, yet shall I cast them downe: ³ though they hyde them selues vpon the toppe of Carmell, yet shall I seke them out, and brynge them from thence: Though they crepe downe from my syght into the depe of the sea, I shall commaunde the serpente, euen there to byte them. ⁴ If they goo awaye before their enemyes in to captyuite, then shall I commaunde the swerde, there to slayue them. Thus wyll I sett myne eyes vpon them, for their harme, & not for their wealth.

⁹ Therfore as truely as I lyue (sayeth the Lorde of hostes the God of Israel) Moab shalbe as Sodome, & Ammon as Gomorra: euen drye thorne hedges, salt pyttes and a perpetual wyldernes. The resydue of my folcke shall spoyle them the remnaunte of my people shall haue them in possession.

⁶ He aunswered, and sayde vnto me: Thys is the word of the Lorde vnto Zorobabel, saying: Nether thorowe an hoste of men, nor thorow strength, but thorowe my sprete, sayeth the Lorde of hoostes.

¹⁴ the Lorde God shalbe sene aboue them, and his dartes shal go forth as the lyghteninge. The Lorde God shall blowe the trompet, and shall come forth as a storme oute of the south.

⁷ Arise, O thou swerd, vpon my shepeherd, & vpon the prince of my people sayeth the lorde of hostes. Smite the sheperd, & the shepe shal be scatred abroade, & so wil I turne mine hand to the litle ones. ⁸ And it shal come to passe (saieth the Lord) that in all the land two partes shalbe roted oute, but the thirde parte shall remayne therin ⁹ And the same thyrd part wil I bring thorow the fyre, & wil clense them, as the siluer is clensed: yea, & try them like as gold is tryed. Then shall they call vpon my name and I wyll heare them: I wyl saye: it is my people. And they shal say: Lorde my God.

² for I will gather together al the heathen, to fighte agaynste Ierusalem, so that the city shalbe woune, the houses spoyled, & the wemen defiled. The half of the city shal go away into captiuite, & the residue of the people shal not be caried out of the cyty.

¹ Beholde, I wil sende my messaunger, which shall prepare the way before me: & the Lord whome, ye woulde haue, shall sone come to hys temple, yea, euen the messenger of the couenaunt, whome ye longe for. Beholde he commeth, sayeth the Lord of hostes ² But who may abyde the day of hys commyng? Who shalbe able to endure, when he appeareth? For he is lyke a goldsmythes fire and lyke a wasshers sope.

¹⁶ But they that feare God, saye thus one to another: the Lord consydereth and heareth it. Yea, it is before him a memoriall boke, wryten for such as feare the Lorde, & remembre his name. ¹⁷ And in the day that I will make (sayeth the Lord of hostes) they shalbe mine own possession: and I wil fauoure them, lyke as a man fauoureth his owne sonne, that doth him seruyce. ¹⁸ Turne you therfore, and consydre what difference is betwyxt the ryghteous & vngodly: betwyxt him that serueth God, and him that serueth him not.

¹ For marck, the day commeth, that shall burne as an ouen: and al the proude, yea and al such as do wickednesse, shalbe straw: and the daye that is for to come, shall burne them vp (sayeth the Lorde of hostes) so that it shall leaue them neyther rote nor braunche. ² But vnto you that feare my name, shall the Sonne of ryghteousnesse aryse, and healthe shalbe vnder his winges: ye shal go forth, & multipply as the fat calues.

¹¹ and went into the house, and found the chylde with Mary his mother, and kneled doune & worshypped him, and opened their treasures and offred to him giftes golde, frankinsence and myrre.

¹⁵ Iesus answered and sayd to hym: Let it be so nowe. For thus it becometh vs to fulfyll al righteousnes. Then he suffred him.

⁴⁴ But I say vnto you loue your enemies. Blesse theim that cursse you. Do good to them that hate you. Pray for them which doo you wronge and persecute you,

¹² And forgeue vs our trespases, euen as we forgeue oure trespasers.

¹⁴ For and if ye shall forgeue other men their trespases, your heauenlye father shall also forgeue you. ¹⁵ But and ye wyll not forgeue men theyr trespases, no more shall your father forgeue your trespases.

²⁵ Therfore I saie vnto you, be not tareful for you life what ye shall eate or what ye shall dryncke, nor yet for your bodye, what ye shall put on, is not the lyfe more worthe then meate, and the body more of value then rayment?

³ And Iesus put forthe his hand & touched him, saiyng: I will, be thou cleane, & immediatly his leprosye was clensed. ⁴ And Iesus sayde vnto hym. Se thou tell no man, but go and shewe thy selfe to the pryeste, and offer the gyft that Moyses commaunded in witnes to them.

¹⁰ When Iesus hearde that, he maruailed & sayed to them that folowed him. Verely I say vnto you, I haue not founde so great faith: no, not in Israel.

¹² and the children of the kingdome shall be cast out in the vtter darkenes: there shalbe wepinge and gnashynge of teth.

⁸ And when the people sawe it, they marueyled & glorifyed God whiche hath geuen suche power to men.

¹⁵ And Iesus sayd vnto them. Can the weddyng children morne as long as the bridegrome is with them? The tyme will come when the bridegrome shalbe taken from them, and then shal they faste:

²² Then Iesus tourned him about, & behelde her saynge: Doughter be of good comforth, thy faith hath made the safe. And she was made whole euen that same houre.

²⁷ And as Iesus departed thence, two blinde men folowed hym cryinge and sayinge: O thou sonne of Dauid haue mercy on vs.

⁵ These .xij. sent Iesus forth after he had geuen to them commaundement sainge Go not into the wayes that lead to the gentyls, & into the cityes of the Samaritanes enter ye not.

³⁹ He that findeth hys lyfe, shal loose it: and he that looseth hys lyfe for my sake, shall fynde it.

²³ And thou Capernaum, which art lyft vp vnto heauen, shall be brought doune to hell. For if the miracles which haue bene done in the, had be shewed in Zodome: they had remayned to this daye. ²⁴ Neuerthelesse I saye vnto you: it shall be easyer for the lande of Zodom in the daye of iudgement, then for the.

¹¹ And he sayd vnto them. Which of you wolde it be, if he had a shepe fallen into a pitte on the saboth daye, that woulde not take hym and lyft hym out?

²⁸ But if I cast out the deuyls by the sprete of God: then is the kingdome of God come on you?

³¹ Another parable he put forth vnto them saying: The kyngdom of heauen is lyke vnto a grayne of mustard seede, whiche a man taketh and soweth in hys felde, ³² whych is the leest of all seedes. ²³ because that all men should honoure the sonne, euen as they honoured the father. He that honoureth not the sonne: the same honoureth not the father, which hath sent him.

³³ Then sayde Iesus vnto them: Yet am I a lytle while with you, and then go I vnto hym that sent me. ³⁴ Ye shall seke, and shal not fynde me: and where I am, thither can ye not come. ³⁵ Then sayd the Iewes amonge them selues: whither wyll he go, that we shall not fynde him? Wyll he go amonge the gentyls which are scattered all abrode and teache the gentyls: ³⁶ What maner of saiynge is this that he saide: ye shall seke me, and shall not fynde me: and wher I am thither can ye not come?

⁷ And whyle they continued axynge hym, he lyfte hym selfe vp, and sayd vnto them: let hym that is amonge you without synne caste the fyrst stone at her. ⁸ And agayne he stouped doune, and wrote on the grounde. ⁹ And assone as they hearde that, they went out one by one, the eldest fyrst. And Iesu was left alone, and the woman standynge in the myddes. ¹⁰ When Iesus had lyft vp hym self agayn and sawe no man but the woman, he sayd to her. Woman where are those thyne accusers? Hath no man condemned the?

²¹ Then sayde Iesus agayne vnto them. I go my waye, and ye shall seke me, & shall dye in youre synnes. Whether I go, thither can ye not come. ²² Then sayde the Iewes: will he kyll hym selfe, because he sayth: whether I go thyther can ye not come? ²³ And he sayde to them: ye are from beneth. I am from aboue. Ye are of thys worlde. I am not of thys worlde. ²⁴ I sayd therfore vnto you, that ye shall dye in your synnes. For except ye beleue that I am he, ye shall dye in youre synnes.

⁴⁸ Then answered the Iewes, and sayd vnto hym: Saye we not well that thou arte a Samaritane, and hast the deuyll?

⁷ and sayed vnto hym: Go, washe the in the pole of Syloe, whiche by interpretacyon, signifyeth sente. He went hys waye, and washed & came agayne, sayng:

³⁸ And he sayde: Lorde I beleue & worshypped hym.

¹⁰ But yf a man walke in the nyght, he stombleth, because there is no lyght in him.

²⁵ He that loueth hys lyfe, shall destroy it: and he that hateth hys lyfe in this world, shal kepe it vnto lyfe eternall.

³⁵ Then Iesus sayed vnto them: yet a lyttell whyle is the lyght with you. Walke, whyle ye haue lyght, lest the darcknes come on you. He that walketh in the darcke, woteth not whether he goeth.

³⁸ that the saiynge of Esayas the Prophete myght be fulfylled, that he spake. Lorde, who shall beleue our saiyng? And to whome is the arme of the Lorde opened?

³³ Deare chyldren, yet a lytell whyle am I with you, ye shall seke me, and as I sayde vnto the Iewes: whyther I go, thyther can ye not come. Also to you saye I now:

⁵ But nowe I go my waye to hym that sent me, and none of you axeth me, whyther goest thou? ⁶ But because I haue sayde suche thinges vnto you, youre hertes are full of sorowe. ⁷ Neuerthelesse I tell you the trueth, it is expediente for you that I go awaye. For yf I go not awaye, that comforter wil not come vnto you. But yf I departe, I wil sende hym vnto you.

¹⁶ After a whyle ye shall not se me: & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: for I go to the father. ¹⁷ Then sayed some of hys disciples amonge them selues: what is this that he sayeth vnto vs: after a whyle ye shall not se me, & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me, and that I go to the father. ¹⁸ They sayd therfore: what is it that he sayeth, after a whyle? we can not tell what he sayth. ¹⁹ Iesus perceyued that they woulde axe him and sayde vnto them. This is it that ye enquyre of amonge your selues that I sayde after a whyle ye shall not se me, and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me. ²⁰ Verely verely I say vnto you: ye shall wepe and lament, & the world shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe, but your sorow shalbe turned into ioye. ²¹ A woman when she trauayleth, hathe sorowe, because her houre is come: but assone as she is deliuered of the child she remembreth no more the anguish, for ioye that a man is borne into the worlde. ²² And ye now are in sorow: but I wyll se you agayne, and youre hertes shall reioyce, and youre ioye shall no man take from you.

¹¹ And now am I no more in the world, but they are in the worlde, and I come to the. Holy father kepe in thyne owne name, them whom thou hast geuen me, that they maye be one, as we are. ¹² Whyle I was with them in the worlde, I kept them in thy name. Those that thou gauest me, haue I kept, and none of them is lost, but that loste chylde, that the scripture myght be fulfylled. ¹³ Nowe come I to the, and these wordes speake I in the worlde, that they myghte haue my ioye full in them.

³⁶ Iesus aunswered my kingdome is not of thys worlde. If my kingdome were of thys worlde, then woulde my mynisters surely fyght, that I shoulde not be delyuered to the Iewes, but now is my kyngdom not from hence.

¹⁵ When they had dyned. Iesus sayd to Simon Peter: Simon Ioanna, louest thou me more then these? He sayd vnto him: ye Lorde thou knowest that I loue the. He saide vnto him: fede me lambes.

⁶ When they were come together they axed of him saiynge: Lorde wylt thou at thys tyme restore againe the kyngdome to Israel? ⁷ And he sayed vnto them: It is not for you to know the tymes or the seasons which the father hath put in hys owne power ⁸ but ye shall receiue power of the holy ghost, whiche shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Hierusalem, and in al Iewrye, and in Samary and euen vnto the worldes ende.

⁵ Then came Philyp into a cytye of Samarya, and preached Christe vnto them. ⁶ And the people gaue hede vnto those thinges, whiche Philippe spake, wyth one accord, in that they heard and sawe the miracles which he dyd. ⁷ For vncleane spyrites criynge with loude voyce, came out of manye that were possessed of them. And manye taken wyth palsyes, and manye that halted, were healed. ⁸ And ther was greate ioye in the citye. ⁹ And ther was a certaine man called Simon, which before tyme in the same citye, vsed wytchcraft and bewitched the people of Samarye, sayinge that he was a man that coulde do greate thinges. ¹⁰ Whom they regarded, from the lest to the greatest, saiyng: this felow is the great power of God. ¹¹ And hym they set much by: because that of long tyme he had mocked them with sorcery. ¹² But assone as they beleued Philippes preachinge of the kyngedome of God and of the name of Iesu Christe, they were baptysed both men and women. ¹³ Then Symon hym selfe beleued also, and was baptysed, and continued wyth Philip, and woundred beholdinge the miracles & signes whiche were shewed. ¹⁴ When the Apostles whiche were at Ierusalem hearde saye, that Samaria had receiued the word of God, they sente vnto them Peter and Iohn. ¹⁵ Whyche when they were come prayed for them that they myght receiue the holy ghost. ¹⁶ For as yet he was come on none of them, but they were baptysed onlye in the name of Christ Iesu. ¹⁷ Then laied they theyr handes on them & they receiued the holy ghost. ¹⁸ When Simon saw that thorow laiyng on of the Apostles handes on them, the holy ghoste was geuen, he offred them money ¹⁹ saiyng: Geue me also this power, that on whomsoeuer I put the handes, he may receiue the holy ghost. ²⁰ Then sayd Peter vnto him: thy money perishe with the, because thou wenest that the gift of God maye be obteyned wt money. ²¹ Thou hast neither parte nor fellowshippe in thys busynes. For the hert is not ryght in the sight of God. ²² Repent therfore of this thy wyckednes, and praye God, that the thought of thyne herte maye be forgeuen the. ²³ For I perceiue, that thou art full of bitter gal, & wrapped in iniquitie. ²⁴ Then aunswered Simon, and said: praye ye to the Lord for me, that none of these thinges, which ye haue spoken fal on me. ²⁵ And they when they had testified and preached the worde of the Lorde returned towarde Ierusalem, & preached the Gospel in manie cities of the Samaritans.

²⁵ And as it chaunsed Peter to come in, Cornelius met him, and fel doune at his fete, and worshipped him. ²⁶ But Peter toke him vp saiynge: stand vp: for euen I me selfe am a man.

²¹ in as muche as when they knewe God, they glorifyed him not as God, neither were thankful, but waxed full of vanities in theyr Imaginations, and their folishe hertes were blinded.

¹² they are all gone out of the waye, they are all made vnprofytable, there is none that doeth good, no not one.

⁴ But what sayth the aunswere of God to hym agayne? I haue reserued vnto me seuen thousande men whiche haue not bowed the knee to Baal. ⁵ Euen so at thys tyme is there a remnaunte left thorow the election of grace. ⁶ Yf it be of grace, then is it not of workes. For then were grace no more grace. Yf it be of workes, then is it no more grace. For then were deseruynge no lenger deseruynge. ⁷ What then? Israell hath not obtayned that, that he soughte. No but the electyon hath obtayned it. The remnaunte are blynded,

³⁵ Other who hath geuen vnto hym fyrst that he myghte be recompensed agayne?

²⁰ Therfore yf thyne enemye hunger, feede hym: yf he thurste, geue hym drinke, for in so doyng thou shalt heape coles of fyre on hys head.

¹³ Let vs not therfore iudge one another anye more. But iudge thys rather, that no man put a stumblynge blocke or an occasyon to falle in hys brothers waye.

¹⁷ For the kyngedome of God is not meate and drynke, but ryghtuousnes, peace, & ioye in the holye ghoste.

²⁰ Destroye not the worke of God for a lytell meates sake. All thynges are pure: but it is euyll for that man, whiche eateth with hurte of hys conscience. ²¹ It is good neyther to eate flesh, neyther to drynke wyne neyther anye thynge whereby thy brother stombleth, eyther falleth, or is made weake.

¹⁷ I beseche you brethren, marke them which cause diuisyon, and geue occasyons of euyl, contrary to the doctryue which ye haue learned: and auoyd them.

⁷ so that ye are behynd in no gyfte, and wayte for the appearynge of oure Lorde Iesus Christe,

¹¹ And so thorowe thy knowledge shal the weake brother perishe for whom Christ dyed. ¹² When ye synne so againste the brethren, and wound theyr weake consciences, ye synne agaynste Christe. ¹³ Wherfore yf meate hurte my brother, I wyll eate no fleshe, whyle the worlde standeth, because I wyll not hurte my brother.

¹⁵ But I haue vsed none of these thinges. Neither wrote I these thinges, that it should be so done vnto me. For it were better for me to dye, then that anye shoulde take this reioysinge from me. ¹⁶ In that I preache the Gospel, I haue nothinge to reioyce of. For necessytye is put vnto me. Wo is it vnto me yf I preach not the Gospel. ¹⁷ Yf I do it wyth a good wil, I haue a rewarde. But yf I do it against my wyl, an offyce is committed vnto me.

²² To the weake became I as weake, to wynne the weake. In all thinge I fashioned my selfe to all men, to saue at the lest waye some.

⁶ These are ensamples to vs that we should not luste after euyll thinges, as they lusted. ⁷ Neyther be ye worshippers of Images as were some of them accordynge at it is written: The people sate doune to eate and drynke, and rose vp agayne to playe. ⁸ Neyther let vs committe fornicacion as some of them committed fornycacyon, and were destroied in one day .xxiij. thousand. ⁹ Neither let vs tempte Christe as some of them tempted, and were destroyed of serpentes. ¹⁰ Neyther murmure ye as some of them murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. ¹¹ Al these thinges happened vnto them for ensamples, and were written to put vs in remembraunce, whom the endes of the world are come vpon. ¹² Wherfore let him that thynketh he standeth, take hede leste he fall.

³² See that ye geue occasion of euil, neither to the Iewes, nor yet to the Gentiles, neither to the congregation of God:

¹⁹ For there muste be sectes amonge you, that they whyche are perfecte amonge you, myghte be knowen.

² And though I could prophecye, and vnderstande all secretes, and all knowledge: yea, yf I had all fayth so that I coulde moue mountaines out of theyr places, and yet had no loue, I were nothing.

⁴ Loue suffreth longe, and is curteous. Loue enuieth not. Loue doth not frowardelye, swelleth not, dealeth not dishonestlye, ⁵ seketh not her owne, is not prouoketh to anger, thinketh not euil, ⁶ reioiceth not in iniquitie: but reioiseth in the trueth, ⁷ suffreth all thinge, beleueth all thinges, hopeth al thinges, endureth in all thinges.

⁹ For I am the leste of al the Apostles, whiche am not worthy to be called an Apostle, because I persecuted the congregation of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am that I am. And his grace which is in me, was not in vaine, but I laboured more aboundantly then they al, not I but the grace of God which is with me.

⁸ For thys thynge besought I the Lorde thryse, that it myght departe from me. ⁹ And he sayde vnto me: my grace is suffycyent for the. For my strengthe is made perfecte thorowe weakenes. Very gladly therfor wil I reioyce of my weakenes, that the strength of Christe maye dwell in me ¹⁰ Therfore haue I delectacyon in infyrmities, in rebukes, in nede, in persecutions, in anguyshe, for Christes sake. For when I am weake, then am I stronge.

¹¹ And when Peter was come to Antioche, I withstode hym in the face, for he was worthy to be blamed. ¹² For yer that certayne came from Iames, he eate with the Gentyls. But when they were come, he withdrue and separated hym selfe, fearyng them which were of the circumcysyon. ¹³ And the other Iewes dissembled lykewyse, in so muche that Barnabas was brought into theyr simulacyon also. ¹⁴ But when I sawe, that they went not the ryghte waye after the truth of the Gospell, I sayde vnto Peter before all men, yf thou beynge a Iew, lyuest after the maner of the Gentyls, and not as do the Iewes: why causeste thou the Gentyls to lyue as do the Iewes?

³¹ Let all bitternes, fearsnes and wrath, roring and cursed speakinge, be put awaye from you, wyth all maliciousnes. ³² Be ye courteouse one to another and mercyfull, forgeuynge one another, euen as God for Christes sake forgaue you.

¹⁵ Take hede therfore that ye walke circumspectlye: not as foles, but as wyse

⁷ But the thinges that were vauntage vnto me. I counted losse for Christes sake. ⁸ Yea I thinke al thinges but losse for that excellent knowledge sake of Christ Iesu my Lord. For whom I haue counted al thinges losse, and do iudge them but dounge, that I myght wynne Christe,

¹³ I can do al thinges thorowe the helpe of Christe whiche strengtheth me.

²⁷ to whom God woulde make knowen the glorious riches of this misterye amonge the Gentyls, whiche ryches is Christ, in you the hope of glorye,

¹² Nowe therfore as electe of God, holy and beloued, put on tender mercye, kyndnes, humblenes of mindes, meaknes, longe sufferynge, ¹³ forbearing one another, and forgeuing one another, yf anye man haue a quarel to another, euen as Christe forgaue you, euen so do ye.

¹⁶ and forbid vs to preache vnto the Gentyls, that they might be saued to fulfyll theyr synnes alwaye. For the wrathe of God is come on them, euen to the vtmost.

¹⁶ For the Lord hym selfe shall descende from heauen with a shoute, and the voice of the Archangell and trompe of God. And the deade in Christ shall arise fyrste: ¹⁷ then shal we which lyue and remayne, be caught vp with them also in the cloudes, to meate the Lorde in the ayer. And so shall we euer be with the Lord.

¹ Of the tymes and seasons brethren ye haue no nede, that I wryte vnto you: ² for ye youre selues knowe perfectly that the daie of the Lorde shall come euen as a thefe in the nyght.

⁷ and to you whiche are troubled, reste wyth vs, when the Lorde Iesus shall shewe hym selfe from heauen wyth hys myghtye Aungels,

² that ye be not sodenly moued fome your mynd, and be not troubled, neyther by spirite neyther by wordes, nor yet by letter whiche shoulde seme to come from vs, as thoughe the daye of Christe were at hande.

⁸ And then shall that wicked be vttered, whome the Lorde shall consume with the spirite of hys mouth, and shall destroye wt the aperaunce of hys commynge.

¹⁰ and in all deceyuablenes of vnryghtuousnes, amonge them that peryshe: because they receyued not the loue of the truethe, that they myght haue bene sayed. ¹¹ And therfore God shall sende them stronge delusyon, that they shoulde beleue lyes: ¹² that all they myghte be damned which beleued not the trueth but had pleasure in vnryghtuousnes.

¹³ Brethren be not werye in well doyng. ¹⁴ Yf any man obeye not oure sayinges send vs worde of hym by a letter: and haue no companye wyth hym that he maye be ashamed.

¹¹ whiche in tyme passed was to the vnprofytable both to the, and also to me,

³⁸ But the iuste shall lyue by fayth. And yf he wythdrawe hym selfe my soule shal haue no pleasure in him. ³⁹ We are not whych wythdrawe our selues vnto dampnacyon, but partayne to faith, to the winnynge of the soule.

⁷ By faythe Noe honoured God, after that he was warned of thynges whiche were not sene, and prepared the arcke to the sauynge of hys housholde, thorow the whiche arcke, he condemned the worlde, and became heyre of the rightuousnes that commeth by faythe.

² lokynge vnto Iesus the author and fynysher of our fayth, whiche for the ioye that was set before hym, abode the crosse, and despised the same, and is set doune on the ryght hande of the throne of God.

¹⁵ And loked to, that no man be destitute of the grace of God, and that no rote of bytternes sprynge vp and trouble, and therebye manye be defyled,

¹ Go to nowe ye ryche men. Weepe, and howle on your wretchednes that shal come vpon you. ² Youre ryches is corrupte youre garmentes are motheaten. ³ Your gold and your siluer are cankered, & the ruste of them shal be a witnes vnto you, and shall eate your fleshe, as it were fyre. Ye haue heaped treasure together in your laste dayes: ⁴ Beholde the hyre of the labourers which haue reped doun your fieldes (which hyer is of you kept backe by fraude) crieth: & the cryes of them whiche haue reped, are entred into the eares of the Lorde Sabaoth ⁵ Ye haue lyued in pleasure on the earth, & in wantonnes. Ye haue norished your hertes, as in a day of slaughter

⁸ Be ye also pacyent therfor, and setle your hertes, for the commynge of the Lorde draweth nye.

¹⁹ Brethren yf anye of you erre from the trueth and an other conuerte hym,

⁷ that youre faythe ones tryed beynge muche more precyous, then golde that perysheth (though it be tryed with fyre) myghte be founde vnto laude, glory, and honoure, at the apearynge of Iesus Christ

¹³ Wherfore gyrde vp the loynes of youre myndes, be sober, and trust perfectelye on the grace that is broughte vnto you, by the declarynge of Iesus Christe,

²² And for as muche as ye haue puryfyed, youre soules thorowe the spyryte, in obeying the truethe for to loue brotherlye wythout faynynge, se that ye loue one another with a pure herte feruentlye: ²³ for ye are borne a newe, not of mortal seede, but of immortall, by the word of God whiche lyueth, and lasteth for euer.

¹⁹ In which spirite, he also wente and preached vnto the spirites that were in prison, ²⁰ which were in tyme passed disobedient, when the longe sufferinge of God abode excedinge paciently in the dayes of Noe, whyle the arcke was a preparing wherin fewe (that is to saie .viij. soules) were saued by water,

¹³ but reioice in as much as ye are partakers of Christes passions, that when his glory appereth, ye maye be mery and glad.

⁵ Lykewyse ye yonger submit youre selues vnto the elder. Submit youre selues euerye man, one to another, knyt youre selues together in lowlines of mynde. For God resisteth the proude & geueth grace to humble. ⁶ Submit youre selues therfore vnder the myghty hande of God, that he maye exalte you, when the tyme is come.

¹ There were false prophetes among the people, euen as there shalbe false teachers amonge you, which priuilie shal bringe in damnable sectes, euen denyenge the Lorde that hath bought them and bringe vpon them selues swyft dampnacion, ² and many shal folowe theyr damnable wayes, by whiche the way of trueth shalbe euyl spoken of, ³ and thorowe couetousnes shal they wyth fayned wordes make marchaundyse of you, whose iudgement is not farre of, and theyr dampnacion slepeth not.

⁵ neyther spared the olde worlde, but saued Noe the ryght preacher of rightuousnes, and brought in the floud vpon the worlde of the vngodly, ⁶ and turned the cyties of Sodom and Gomor into ashes, ouerthrowe them, dampned them, and made on them an ensample vnto all that after shoulde lyue vngodly.

⁹ The Lorde knoweth howe to deliuer the Godlye out of temptacion, and howe to reserue the vniuste vnto the daye of iudgement for to be punyshed,

¹⁸ For when they haue spoken the swellinge wordes of vanitie, they begyle with wantonnes thorowe the lustes of the fleshe, them that were cleane escaped, but nowe are wrapped in errours. ¹⁹ They promis them libertie, and are them selues the bonde seruauntes of corrupcyon. For of whomsoeuer a man is ouer come, vnto the same is he in bondage. ²⁰ For yf they, after they haue escaped from the fylthines of the worlde thorowe the knowledge yf the Lord and of the sauiour Iesus Christe, are yet tangled agayne therin and ouercome, then is the latter ende worsse wyth them then the beginninge. ²¹ For it had bene better for them not haue knowen the way of rightuousnes then after they haue knowen it to turne from the commaundementes geuen vnto them. ²² It is happened to them accordinge to the true prouerbe: The dogge is turned to his vomet againe, and the sowe that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

⁶ by the which thinges, the worlde that then was, perished ouer flowen with the water.

¹⁰ Neuertheles the daye of the Lord wyl come as a thiefe in the nyght in the which daye, the heauens shal peryshe wyth terryble noyse, and the elementes shal melte wyth heate, and the earth wyth the workes that are therin shal burne.

⁸ Loke on youre selues, that we lose not that we haue wrought but that we maye haue a full rewarde.

⁷ euen as Sodome and Gomor, and the cytyes about them (which in lyke maner defyled them selues with fornicacyon, and folowed straunge fleshe) are sette forth for an ensample, and suffer the vengeaunce of eternal fyre.

⁷ Behold he commeth wyth cloudes, and al eyes shal se him: and they also whiche persed hym. And all kynredes of the earth shal waile. Euen so. Amen:

¹⁰ Feare none of those thynges, which thou shalt suffre. Behold, the deuil shal caste of you into pryson, to tempte you, and ye shal haue tribulacion .x. dayes. Be faythful vnto the death, & I wyl geue the a croune of life.

¹⁴ But I haue a fewe thinges against the, that thou hast there, them that maintaine the doctryne of Balam, whiche taught in Balake, to put occasyon of synne before the chyldren of Israel, that they shoulde eate of meate dedicate vnto ydoles & committe fornicacion.

²⁰ Notwithstandinge I haue a fewe thinges against the, that thou sufferest that woman Iesabel, which called her selfe a prophetisse, to teache and to deceyue my seruauntes to make them commit fornicacion, and to eate meates offered vp to Idols.

¹⁰ the .xxiiij. elders fel doune before him that sate on the throne, and worshypped him that lyueth for euer, and cast their crounes before the throne, saiynge:

¹⁴ And the foure beastes sayd Amen. And the .xxiiij. elders fel vpon theyr faces, and worshypped hym that liueth for euermore.

⁸ And theyr bodies shal lye in the stretes of the great city, whiche spyrytually is called Sodome and Egypte, where oure Lorde was crucyfyed.

¹⁴ And deceiued them that dwelt on the earth by the meanes of those sygnes, which he had power to do in the syght of the beaste, saying to them that dwelt on the earth, that they should make an ymage vnto the beaste, whyche had the wounde of a swearde, and dyd lyue. ¹⁵ And he had power to geue a spyryte vnto the ymage of the beaste, and that the ymage of the beast should speake, and shoulde cause that as manye as would not worshyppe the ymage of the beaste, shoulde be kylled. ¹⁶ And he made al both smale and greate, ryche and poore, free and bonde, to receyue a marke in theyr ryght handes, or in theyr forheades. ¹⁷ And that no man myghte by or sell, saue he that had the marke, or the name of the beaste, other the numbre of his name. ¹⁸ Here is wysdom. Let him that hath wyt counte the numbre of the beaste. For it is the numbre of a man, and hys numbre is syxe hundred thre score and syxe.

⁷ sayinge with a loude voice: Feare God, & geue honoure to him, for the houre of his iudgemente is come, and worshyp hym, that made heauen and earth & the sea, & fountaynes of water.

⁴ And the .xxiij. elders, & the .iiij. beastes fel doune, & worshipped God that sate on the seat sayinge: Amen Alleluia. ⁵ And a voice came out of the seate, saying: prayse our Lord God all ye that are his seruauntes, and ye that feare him both smalle and great.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feete, to worshippe him. And he sayed vnto me, se thou do it not. For I am thy felowe seruaunt, & one of thy brethren, & of them that haue the testimony of Iesus. Worshippe God. For the testimony of Iesus is the spirit of prophesye.

¹⁷ And I sawe an angel stand in the sunne & he cryed wyth a loud voyce, saiyng to al the foules that flye by the myndes of heauen come & gather youre selues together vnto the supper of the great God, ¹⁸ that ye may eate the flesh of kinges, & of hye captaynes, & the fleshe of myghty men, and the flesh of horsses, & of them that sit on them, & the flesh of all free men & bonde men, & of small & great.
