¹⁹ But Iosua sayde vnto the people, ye can not serue the Lorde: for he is an holye God & cannot beare youre transgressyon and synne.

⁵ Se that thou neither bowe thy self vnto them neither serue them: for I the Lord thy God, am a gelouse God, & viset the synne of the fathers vppon the chyldren vnto the thyrd and fourth generacion of them that hate me:

²¹ Beware of him & heare his voice and angre him not: for he will not spare youre mysdedes, yea, and my name is in hym.

⁷ and kepest mercye in store for thousandes, & forgeueste wyckednes, trespace, and synne (for there is no man innocent before the) and vysitest the wyckednes of the father vpon the chyldren and vpon chyldrens chyldren, euen vnto the thyrd and fourth generation.

¹⁴ for thou shalt worshyp no straunge God. For the Lorde is called gelousee bycause he is a gelouse God:

³ Then Moses sayed vnto Aaron: this is that the Lorde spake saying: I wyl be sanctified in them that come nye me, & before all the people I wil be glorified. And Aaron helde hys peace.

² speake vnto al the multytude of the children of Israel, and say vnto them. Be holy for I the Lord youre God am holye.

²⁶ Be holy vnto me, for I the Lorde am holy and haue seuered you from other nacions: that ye shuld be myne.

²³ Then put awaye, sayde he the straung Goddes which are among you, and bowe your hertes vnto the Lorde God of Israell.

¹⁵ then she sayd: se, thy syster in lawe is gone backe againe vnto her people & vnto her God: returne thou after her.

¹⁴ And therfor I haue sworne vnto the house of Eli, that the wickednesse of Elies house, shal not be purged with sacrifice nor offeryng, whyle the world standeth.

²⁰ And the men of Bethsames sayde: who is able to stand before the Lord so holy a God, & to whom shall he go from vs.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God & despised theyr wordes & mysse vsed his prophetes, vntyll the wrath of the Lord so arose agaynst hys people that it was past remeadie.

⁵ O magnyfy the Lorde oure God, fal down before his fote stole, for he is holye.

⁹ O magnyfye the Lorde oure God, and worshyppe hym vpon hys holy hyll, for the Lorde oure God is holy.

¹⁶ But the Lorde of hostes, that holye God shalbe exalted and vntouched, when he shall declare hys equyte and ryghtuosnesse after thys maner:

³ They cryed also eche one to other on this maner: holy holy holy, is the Lord of hostes. The whole world is ful of his glory. ⁴ Yea the gestes and dorecheckes moued at their crieng, & the house was ful of smoke. ⁵ Then I sayde: O wo is me. For I was astonished: that I (which am a man of vncleane lippes and dwell amonge people that hath vncleane lyppes also) shulde se the kynge and the Lorde of hostes wyth myne eyes.

¹¹ Theyr haruest shalbe brente, theyr wyues which were theyr bewtye when they came forth: shalbe defyled. For it is a people wythout vnderstandynge, & therfore he that created them, shall not fauoure them, and he that made them shal not be mercyful to them.

¹¹ Treade oute of the waye, go out of the path, turne the holye one of Israel from vs.

¹⁵ For the Lorde God, euen the holy one of Israell hath promysed thus: Wyth styll syttynge and rest shall ye be healed, in quyetnesse & hope shall youre strength lye.

¹³ Thyne eyes are clene, thou mayest not se euyll, thou canst not beholde the thynge that is wycked. Wherfor then doest thou loke vpon the vngodly, and holdest thy tung, when the wycked deuoureth the man that is better then hym selfe?

²⁴ No man can serue two maysters. For eyther he shall hate the one & loue the other: yea or eles he shall leane to the one & dispise the other. Ye cannot serue God & Mammon.

²⁵ There went a great companye with him, and he turned and sayde vnto them: ²⁶ If a man come to me, and hate not hys father and mother, and wyfe, and chyldren and brethren & systers, moreouer and hys owne lyfe, he can not be my disciple. ²⁷ And whosoeuer beare not his crosse, and come after me can not be my disciple. ²⁸ Which of you disposed to buylde a tower, sitteth not doune before, & counteth the costes whether he haue sufficient to performe it, ²⁹ leste after he hath layde the foundacion, and is not able to performe it, all that beholde it beginne to mocke hym, ³⁰ saiyng: this man beganne to buylde, and was not able to make an end. ³¹ Or what kynge goeth to make batayle agaynste another kynge, & sytteth not doune fyrste, and casteth in hys mynd, whyther he be able with ten thousande to mete hym that cometh against him with twentye thousande. ³² Or els whyle the other is yet a great waye of, he wyll send embassetours, and desire peace. ³³ So likewise none of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, can be my discyple.

²⁰ Naye, but I saye, that these thinges, whiche the Gentyles offer, they offer to deuyls, and not to God. And I woulde not that ye should haue felloushippe wt the deuyls. ²¹ Ye can not drinke of the cuppe of the Lorde: and of the cuppe of the deuils. Ye can not be partakers of the Lordes table, and of the table of the deuils. ²² Either shall we prouoke the Lorde? Or are we stronger then he? All thinges are laufull vnto me, but all thinges are not expedient.
