³¹ They haue also buylded an aulter at Topheth, which is in the valley of the chyldren of Hennom: that they might burne theyr sonnes and doughters, whiche I neuer commaunded them, neyther came it euer in my thought.

²¹ Thou shalt not geue of the seed to offer it vnto Moloch, that thou defyle not the name of thy god, for I am the Lord.

¹ And the Lord talked wyth Moses saying: ² tell the chyldren of Israel, whosoeuer he be of the chyldren of Israel or of the straungers that dwell in Israel, that geueth of hys seed vnto Moloch he shall dye for it: the people of the lande shall stone him with stones. ³ And I wyl set my face vpon that felowe, and wyll destroy him from among hys people: because he hath geuen of hys seed vnto Moloch, for to defyle my sanctuary & to polute my holy name. ⁴ And thoughe that the people of the lande hyde their eyes from that felowe, when he geueth of hys seed vnto Moloch, so that they kyll hym not: ⁵ yet I wyll put my face vpon that man and vpon hys generacyon, and wyll destroy hym and all that goo a whooryng wyth him and commyt hordome wyth Moloch from amonge their people.

³¹ Naye, thou shalt not do so vnto the Lorde thy God: for all abhominacions whyche the Lorde hated dyd they vnto theyr Goddes. For they burnt both their sonnes and their daughters with fire vnto their Goddes.

³ so that they haue gone & serued straung Gods and worshypped them, whether it be the sunne or mone or any thing contayned in heauen which I forbade,

⁸ And then went vp to the valeye of the sonne of Hennon, euen vnto the southsyde of the Iebusites the enhabitoures of Ierusalem. And then went vp to the toppe of the hylle, that lyeth before the valeye of Hennon westwarde, and by the edge of the valeye of Raphaim northwarde:

¹⁷ And they sacrificed their sonnes & their doughters in fyre, & vsed witchcraft & enchauntementes, & were solde to worcke wickednes in the sight of the Lorde for to angre hym.

¹⁰ And he defyled Topheth also, whiche is the valeye of the children of Hennom, because noman shoulde offer hys sonne or hys doughter in fyre to Moloch:

²⁰ And he sacryfyced all the priestes of the hylaulters that were there euen vpon the aulters, and burnt mennes bones vpon them, and returned to Ierusalem.

³ And he offered cense in the valeye of the children of Hennon, and burnt his children in fyre after the abhominacyon of the nacyons which the Lord cast out before the chyldren of Israel.

⁶ And he burnt his chyldren in fyre in the valey of the sonnes of Hennon. And he obserued dysmalle dayes & occupyed wytch crafte and sorsery, and mayntened workers with spirites & fears of fortunes: & wrought moche euell in the syght of the Lorde, to angre hym wyth all.

³⁷ Yea they offred their sons and their daughters vnto deuels. ³⁸ And shed the innocent bloud of their sonnes and of their daughters, whom they offered vnto the ymages of Canaan, so that the land was defiled with bloud.

² in to the valley of the chyldren of Hennon, which lieth before the porte that is made of bryck, & shewe them there the wordes, that I shall tell the,

⁵ for they haue sett vp an aulter vnto Baall, to burne their children for a burntofferynge vnto Baall, which I nether commaunded, ner charged them, nether thought ones there vpon. ⁶ Beholde therfore, the time commeth (saieth the Lorde) that this place shall nomore be called. Topheth, ner the valley of the children of Hennom, but the valley of slaughter.

³⁵ They haue buylded hyr places for Baal in the valleye of the children of Heunom, to vow their sonnes and doughters vnto Moloch: whiche I neuer commaunded them, neyther came it euer in my thought, to make Iuda sinne with suche abnominacion.

²⁰ Thou haste taken thyne owne sonnes & doughters, whom thou hast begotten vnto me, and these haste thou offered vp vnto them, to be theyr meate. Is this but a smal whordome of thine (thinckest thou)
