⁴ Then sayd the princes vnto the king: Syr, we beseche you, let this man to be put to death: For thus he discoraged the handes of the soudyars that be in this cytie, & the handes of al the people, when he speaketh such wordes vnto them. This man verely laboureth not for peace of the people, but mischefe.

⁴ Then sayed the kynge of Egypte vnto them: wherefor do ye Moses and Aaron let the people from their worke, get you vnto your labour.

¹⁷ And when Ahab sawe Eliah, he sayd vnto hym: art thou he that troubleth Israel? ¹⁸ And he sayde: it is not I that trouble Israel, but thou and thy fathers house, in that ye haue forsaken the commaundementes of the Lord, and hast folowed Baal.

²⁰ And Ahab sayd to Eliah: hast thou founde me thine enemy at any time? and he saide: ye, because thou art vtterly geuen to worcke wyckednesse in the syghte of the lord.

²¹ Wherupon they conspired agaynst hym and stoned hym with stones, at the commaundement of the kynge: euen in the courte of the house of the Lord.

¹² Be it knowne vnto the kynge, that the Iewes are come vp from the to vs vnto Ierusalem a cytye sedycyous and frowarde, and buylde the same, and laye the foundacyon of the walles therof, and repaire them.

⁹ For they were all mynded to make vs afrayed and thoughte: they shall wythdrawe theyr handes from the worke, that they shall not laboure. Howbeit I strengthed my hande the more.

¹¹ Then spake the priestes and the Prophetes vnto the rulers, & to all the people, these wordes: This man is worthy to dye, for he hath preached agaynste this citie, as ye youre selues haue hearde with youre eares.

²¹ Nowe when Iehoakim the kyng wyth al the estate and prynces had hearde his wordes, the kynge went about to slaye hym. When Vriah perceyued that, he was afrayed, & fled, and departed into Egypte. ²² Then Iehoakim the kinge sente seruauntes into the lande of Egypte. Namely, Elnathan the sonne of Achabor, and certayne men with him into Egipte, ²³ whiche fetched Vriah oute of Egypte, and brought hym vnto kyng Iehoakim that slewe hym with the sweard, and caste hys dead bodye into the comon peoples graue.

⁷ but seke after peace & prosperite of the citie, where in ye be presoners, and praye vnto God for it: For in the peace thereof, shall youre peace be.

¹² he wente doune to the Kinges palace into the Scrybes chambre, for there al the Prynces were set: Elisama the Scrybe, Dalaiah the sonne of Semei, Eluathan the sonne of Acabor, Gamariah the sonne of Saphan, Zedekiah the sonne of Hananiah, wyth all the Princes. ¹³ And Micheah tolde them all the wordes, that he hearde Baruch reade out of the boke before the people. ¹⁴ Then all the Prynces sent Iehudi the sonne of Nathaniah, the sonne of Selamiah, the sonne of Chusi, vnto Baruch, sayinge: Take in thyne hande the boke, wherout thou haste read before all the people, and come. So Baruch the sonne of Neriah toke the boke in his hande, & came vnto them. ¹⁵ And they sayde vnto him: Syt doune, and read the boke that we may heare also. So Baruch reade, that they might heare. ¹⁶ Now when they had heard all the wordes, they were abashed one vpon another, and sayde vnto Baruch: we wyl certifie the kynge of all these wordes.

²⁷ Thy rulers in the ate like rauishing wolues, to shed bloude, and to destroye soules, for their owne couetous lucre.

¹⁰ Vpon this sent Amasiah the prest to Bethell vnto Ieroboam the kynge of Israel, sayinge: Amos maketh the house of Israel to rebell agaynst the, the lande can not awaye with his wordes.

¹ Heare, O ye heades of the house of Iacob, & peleders of the house of Israel: Shulde not ye know what were lawfull and ryght? ² But ye hate the good, and loue the euell: ye plucke of mennes skynnes, and the flesh from their bones: ³ ye eate the flesh of my people, and slay of their skynne: ye breake their bones, ye choppe them in peces as it were in to a cauldron, and as flesh into a pot.

¹ Wo to the abhomynable, fylthy & cruell cytie: ² whiche will not heart, nor be refourmed. Get trust is not in the Lord, neither wyll she holde her to her goo. ³ Her rulers within her are as roaryng lyons: her iudges are as wolues in the euenynge, which leaue nothynge behynde them tyll the morowe.

² And they began to accuse hym saiynge: We haue founde thys felowe peruertinge the people & forbiddinge to paye tribute to Cesar, saiynge: that he is Christ a kinge.

⁴⁶ But some of them went theyr wayes to the Pharises, and tolde them what Iesus had done. ⁴⁷ Then gathered the hye Priestes and Pharyses a counsel and sayd: What do we? This man doth many myracles: ⁴⁸ yf we let hym scape thus, all men wyll beleue on hym, & the Romaynes shall come and take away our countrey and the people. ⁴⁹ And one of them named Cayphas which was the hye prieste that same yeare sayde vnto them: ye perceyue nothynge at all, nor yet consyder that ⁵⁰ it is expedyent for vs, that one man dye for the people, & not that all the people peryshe.

²⁰ & brought them to the offycers saiynges: These men trouble oure citie, whiche are Iewes,

⁶ But when they found them not, they drue Iason and certayne brethren vnto the heades of the citie, criynge: these that trouble the worlde are come hyther also,

⁵ We haue founde thys man a pestylent felowe, and a mouer of debate vnto all the Iewes thoroughout the world, and a mayntayner of the secte of the Nazarites,

²² But we wyll heare of the what thou thynkest. For we haue hearde of this secte that euery where it is spoken agaynste.
