³ & saye thus vnto them: Heare the worde of the Lorde, ye kynges of Iuda, and ye cytesyns of Ierusalem: Thus sayeth the Lord of Hostes the God of Israel: Beholde, I will bring soche a plage vpon this place, that the eares of all that heare it, shall glowe.

¹¹ And the Lord said to Samuel: beholde I wyl do a thing in Israel, that the eares of as many as heareth it, shall tingle.

¹⁶ And the man sayd vnto Eli: I am he that came out of the aray and fled out of the hoste thys daye. And he sayde how is it fortuned, my sonne? ¹⁷ And the messenger answered & sayd: Israel is fled before the Philistines, & there is a great slaughter chaunsed amonge the people, and thy two sonnes, Hophni & Phinehes are dead, & therto the arck of God is taken. ¹⁸ And when he made mencyon of the arcke of God, Eli fell from of hys stole backwarde towarde the gate, and hys necke brake, & he dyed: for he was olde & vnweldye and he had iudged Israel fourtye yeares.

¹² Therfore thus sayth the Lord God of Israel. Beholde, I wyl brynge suche euyl vpon Ierusalem and Iuda, that the eares of all that heare it, shall tyngle at it. ¹³ And I wyll stretche ouer Ierusalem the squarynge lyne of Samaria and the plometh of the house of Ahab. And I wyl wype out Ierusalem, as a man would wipe a dyshe, and when he hath wyped, it turneth it vpsedoune.

¹⁰ Be wyse nowe therfore, O ye Kinges, be warned, ye that are iudges of the earthe.

¹⁵ The Heathen shal feare thy name, O Lord, and all the kynges of the earth thy maiesty.

⁵ The Lorde vpon thy ryghte hande, shall smyte euen kinges in the daye of hys wrath.

¹⁹ For it shal go forth earlye in the mornynge, and contynue onelye that daye & that nighte. And the very feare only shall teache you, when ye heare it.

¹⁹ Heare thou earth also: beholde, I wyll cause a plage come vpon this people, euen the frute of theyr owne ymagynacions. For they haue not bene obedyente vnto my wordes and to my lawe, but abhorred them.

¹⁸ Tell the kynge and the rulers: Humble youre selues, sett you downe lowe, for the crowne of youre glory shall fall from your head.

²⁰ and saye vnto them: Heare the worde of the Lorde, ye kynges of Iuda, and al thou people of Iuda, and all ye cytesyns of Ierusalem, that go thorowe thys gate:

¹⁸ And ye shalbe brought to the head rulers and kinges for my sake, in witnes to them & to the gentyls.

²⁹ Let hym that hath eares, heare what the spyryte sayeth to the congregations.
