¹⁵ Thys wysedome descendeth not from aboue: but is earthye, & naturall, and deuelyshe:

¹ Bvt the serpent was sutyller than al the beastes of the felde, whych the Lord God had made: & sayd vnto the woman: yea hath God sayd in dede, ye shall not eate of al maner trees in the garden? ² And the woman sayd vnto the serpent, of the frute of the trees in the garden we may eate, ³ but of the frute of the tree that is in the myddes of the garden (sayd God) se that ye eate not, & se that ye touch it not, lest ye dye. ⁴ Then sayd the serpent vnto the woman: tush ye shal not dye: ⁵ but god doth know that when so euer ye should eate of it, your eyes should be opened, & ye should be as god, & know both good & euel.

³ But Amnon had a companyon called Ionadab the sonne of Samah the brother of Dauid: which Ionadab was a very wyse man.

³¹ And one tolde Dauid saying: Ahithophel is one of them that haue conspyred wyth Absalom. Then sayde Dauid: O Lorde, turne the councell of Ahithophel into folyshnes.

²³ And the councell of Ahithophel whiche he counceled in those dayes, was a man had asked counsel of God: euen so was al the counsel of Ahithophel, bothe vnto Dauid and also vnto Absalom.

²² Neuertheles this shal come vpon them, because my people is become folysh, and hath vtterly no vnderstandynge. They are the children of folishnes, and without any dyscrecion. To do euill, they haue wyt ynoughe: but to do wel, they haue no wisdome.

⁸ And the Lord commended the vniust steward because he had done wyslye. For the chyldren of thys worlde are in theyr kynde, wyser then the chyldren of lyght,

¹⁷ For God sent not his sonne into the world, to condempne the worlde: but that the world through him, might be saued.

⁴⁴ Ye are of youre father the deuyl, and the lustes of your father ye wyll do. He was a murtherer from the begynnyng, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truthe in hym. When he speaketh a lye, then speaketh he of hys owne. For he is a lyar, and the father therof.

¹⁰ & sayde. O full of all subteltie and disseytfulnes the chylde of the deuyll, and the enemye of all ryghteousnes, thou ceasest not to peruerte the strayghte wayes of the Lorde.

²² When they counted them selues wyse, they became foles,

¹⁹ For it is written: I will destroye the wysdome of the wyse, and wyll caste awaye the vnderstandinge of the prudent. ²⁰ Where is the wyse? Where is the scribe? Where is the searcher of this worlde?

²⁷ but God had chosen the folyshe thynges of the worlde, to confounde the wise. And God hath chosen the weake thinges of the worlde, to confounde thynges, whyche are myghty.

⁶ That we speake of, is wisdome amonge that are perfecte: not the wisdome of this world (whiche go to nought) ⁷ but we speake that wysdome of God, whiche is in secrete and lyeth hyd, whiche God ordeined before the world vnto oure glory,

¹⁴ For the naturall man perceiueth not the thinges of the spyrite of God. For they are but folishnes vnto him. Neither can he perceiue them, because he is spiritually examined.

³ As longe verelye as there is amonge you enuiynge, stryfe and dissencion: are ye not carnall, and walke after the maner of men?

¹⁹ For the wysdome of this worlde is folyshnes wyth God. For it is wrytten: he compaseth the wyse in theyr craftynes.

¹² Oure reioysinge is this, the testimony of oure conscience, that in synglenes and Godly purenes, and not in fleshely wysdome, but by the grace of God, we haue had oure conuersation in the worlde, and moste of all to youwardes.

³ But I feare leste as the serpente begyled Eue thorowe hys suttelty, euen so youre wyttes shoulde be corrupte from the synglenes that is in Christe.

¹³ For these false Apostles are disceytfull workers, and fashyon them selues lyke vnto the Apostles of Christe. ¹⁴ And no maruail for Satan hym selfe is chaunged into the fashyon of an angell of lyghte. ¹⁵ Therfore it is no greate thynge, thoughe hys mynysters fashyon them selues as thoughe they were the mynisters of rightuousnes, whose end shalbe accordynge to theyr dedes.

¹⁹ whose ende is dampnation, whose God is theyr belye, and whose glorye is to theyr shame, whiche are worldlye minded.

⁹ euen hym whose commynge is by the workynge of Sathan, with all liynge power, signes and wonders:

¹ The spyryte speaketh euydentlye that in the later tymes some shal departe from the fayth, & shall geue heed vnto spyrytes of erroure, and deuelysh doctryne of them

⁵ Yf anye of you lacke wysedome, let hym axe of God whiche geueth to all men indyfferentlye, and casteth no man in the teath: and it shal be geuen hym.

¹⁷ Euery good gyfte, and euerye perfecte gyfte, is from aboue and commeth doune from the father of lyght wyth whome is no varyablenes, neyther is he chaunged vnto darkenes.

¹⁷ But the wysedome that is from aboue, is fyrste pure, then peasable, gentle, and easye to be entreated, full of mercye & good frutes, wythoute iudgynge, and wythout simulacyon:

⁸ He that committeth sinne, is of the deuil, for the deuil sinneth sence the beginninge. For this purpose appered the sonne of God to lowse the workes of the deuil. ⁹ Whosoeuer is borne of God, sinneth not, for hys seed remaineth in him, and he can not sinne, because he is borne of God. ¹⁰ In this are the chyldren of God knowen, and the chyldren of the deuil. Whosoeuer doth not rightuousnes, is not of God, neyther he that loueth not his brother.

¹⁹ These are makers of sectes fleshlye, hauynge no spyryte.

²⁴ Vnto you I say, and vnto eyther of them of Thiatyra, as manye as haue not knowen this learning, and whiche haue not knowen the depnes of Sathan (as they say) I wyl put vpon you none other burthen,

¹¹ And they had a kynge ouer them, whych is the angel of the bottomlesse pyt, whose name in the Hebrue tonge, is Abodon, but in the Greke tonge, Appollion.

⁹ And the great dragon, that olde serpente called the deuyll and Sathanas was caste out. Whiche deceyueth al the worlde. And he was cast into the earth, and his angelles were cast out also.
