⁵ Yf anye of you lacke wysedome, let hym axe of God whiche geueth to all men indyfferentlye, and casteth no man in the teath: and it shal be geuen hym.

³ And I haue fylled hym wyth the spirite of God, with wysdome, vnderstandynge and knoledge: euen in all maner worke,

⁶ And beholde. I haue geueth hym to be his companion Ahaliab the sonne of Ahisamach of the trybe of Dan, and in the hertes of al that are wyse harted I haue put wysdom to make al that I haue commaunded the:

¹ And Bezaliel wrought and Ahaliab and all wyse herted men to whom the Lorde had geuen wisedome and vnderstanding to knowe howe to worcke all maner worcke for the holy seruice, in al that the Lorde commaunded. ² And Moses called for Bezaleel Ahaliak and al the wise hered men in whose hertes the Lord had putte wisedome, euen as many as their hertes couraged to come to the worcke to worcke it. ³ And they receiued of Moses al the heueofferinges which the children of Israel had brought for the worke of the holy seruice to make it withal. And they brought beside that wyllyng offeringes euery morning. ⁴ And al the wyse men that wrought all the holy worcke came euery man from his worke whyche they made,

⁷ And now Lord, my God, it is thou that hast made thy seruaunt kynge in steade of Dauid my father. And I am a young lad & wote not how to order my selfe. ⁸ And thy seruaunt is in the myddes of thy people which thou hast chosen, a people that are so many that they can not be told nor nombred for multitude. ⁹ Geue therfore vnto thy seruaunt an vnderstandynge herte to iudge thy people, & to decerne betwene good, and bad. For who is able to iudge thys thy so waightye a people. ¹⁰ And it pleased the Lord well, that Salomon had desyred thys thynge. ¹¹ Wherfore God said vnto him: because thou hast asked this thynge and hast not asked long life, nether hast asked ryches, nor the lyues of thyne enemies, but hast asked the discrecion to vnderstand equite. ¹² Se, I haue done accordynge to thy petycyon: and beholde: I haue geuen thy a wyse and an vnderstandynge hert, so that there was none lyke the before, nether after the shal any aryse lyke vnto the.

¹² And the Lord geue thy wysdom & vnderstandynge, & make the gouerner of Israel, & to kepe the law of the lord thy God.

¹⁰ Wherfore geue me wisdome and knowledge how to behaue my selfe vnto thys people: for who is able to iudge thys people that is so greate?

¹² Howe commeth a man then by wysedome? Where is the place that men fynde vnderstandinge? ¹³ Verely no man can tell howe worthy a thynge she is, neither is she found in the land of the liuinge. ¹⁴ The depe sayeth: she is not in me. The sea sayeth: she is not with me. ¹⁵ She can not be gotten for the most fine gould, neither may the pryce of her be bought with any money. ¹⁶ No wedges of goulde of Ophir, no precious Onix stones, no Saphirs maye be compared vnto her. ¹⁷ No, neyther goulde, nor Christal, neyther swete odoures, nor golden plate. ¹⁸ There is nothinge so worthy, or so excellent, as ones to be named vnto her: for perfecte wisedome goeth farre beyonde them al. ¹⁹ The Topas that commeth out of Iude, may in no wise be lykened vnto her: yea no maner of apparel howe pleasaunt and fayre soeuer it be. ²⁰ From whence then commeth wysedome? & where is the place of vnderstandinge? ²¹ She is hyd from the eyes of all men, yea & from the foules of the ayre. ²² Destruccyon and death say: we haue hearde tell of her with oure eares. ²³ But God seyth her waie, and knoweth her place. ²⁴ For he beholdeth the endes of the world & loketh vpon al that is vnder heauen. ²⁵ When he weyed the windes, & measured the waters ²⁶ when he set the rayne in ordre, and gaue the mighty floudes a lawe? ²⁷ Then dyd he se her, then declared he her, prepared her, and knew her. ²⁸ And vnto man he sayde: Beholde, to feare the Lorde, is wisedom, and to forsake euil, is vnderstandinge.

³ For if thou cryest after wysdome, & callest for knowledge: ⁴ if thou sekest after her as after money, & dyggest for her as for treasure: ⁵ then shalt thou vnderstande the feare of the Lord, & fynde the knowlege of God. ⁶ For it is the Lord that geueth wysdome, out of hys mouth commeth knowlege & vnderstandyng.

⁵ Put thy trust in the Lord wyth all thyne hert, and leane not vnto thyne own vnderstandinge. ⁶ In all thy wayes haue respecte vnto hym, & he shal ordre thy goinges. ⁷ Be not wyse in thyne own conceyte, but feare the Lord, & departe from euell:

⁴ Who so is ignoraunt, let hym come hither. And to the vnwise she sayd: ⁵ O come on your way, eat my bred, & drinke my wyne, which I haue poured out for you. ⁶ Forsake ignoraunce, & ye shall lyue: & se that ye go in the way of vnderstandinge.

⁶ Seke the Lorde, whyle he maye be founde, & call vpon hym whyle he is nye. ⁷ Let the vngodly man forsake his wayes & the vnrighteous his ymaginacions, & turne agayne vnto the Lorde: so shall he be mercyfull vnto him: & to oure God, for he is redy to forgeue.

⁶ Then sayde I: Oh Lorde God, I am vnmete, for I am yet but younge. ⁷ And the Lorde answered me thus: Saye not so, I am to younge. For thou shalt go to al that I shall sende the vnto, and whatsoeuer I commaund the, that shalt thou speake.

¹² Ye shal crye vnto me, ye shall go & call vpon me, & I shall heare you. ¹³ Ye shall seke me & fynde me, Yea, yf so be that ye seke me with your whole herte,

¹⁸ that they shulde beseche the God of heauen for grace in thys secrete, that Daniel and hys felowes wyth other soch as were wyse in Babylon, peryshed not. ¹⁹ Then was the mysterye shewed vnto Daniel in a vysyon by nyght And Daniel praysed the god of heauen. ²⁰ Daniel also cryed loude, and sayd: O that the name of God myghte be praysed for euer and euer, for wysdome and strengthe are hys owne: ²¹ he chaunged the tymes & ages: he putteth doune kynges, he setteth vp kinges he geueth wysdome vnto the wyse, & vnderstandynge to those that vnderstande, ²² he openeth the depe secretes, he knoweth the thynge that lyeth in darckenesse, for the lyghte dwelleth wyth hym.

⁷ Axe and it shalbe geuen you. Seke and ye shall fynde. Knocke & it shalbe opened vnto you. ⁸ For whosoeuer axeth receyueth, and he that seketh fyndethe, and to hym that knocketh, it shalbe opened. ⁹ Ys there any man amonge you whiche if his sonne axed hym bread, would offer him a stone? ¹⁰ Or if he axed fyshe, woulde he profer him a serpente? ¹¹ Yf ye then whyche are euyll, can geue to youre chyldren good gyftes: howe muche more shall your father whiche is in heauen, geue good thinges to them that axe hym?

²⁰ Then began he to vpbrayd the cytyes, in which most of his miracles were done, because they mended not.

¹⁴ After that he appeared vnto the eleuen, as they sate at meat, and caste in theyr tethe theyr vnbelese and hardnes of hert: because they beleued not them which had sene hym after hys resurreccyon.

⁹ And I saye vnto you: axe and it shalbe geuen you. Seke, and ye shal finde. Knocke, and it shalbe opened vnto you. ¹⁰ For euery one that axeth, receyueth: and he that seketh, findeth: & to hym that knocketh shall it be opened ¹¹ Yf the sonne shall axe bread of any of you that is a father, will he geue him a stone? Or yf he axe fishe, will he for a fishe geue hym a serpente? ¹² Or yf he axe an egge, wyl he offer hym a scorpion? ¹³ Yf ye then which are euill, can geue good gyftes vnto youre chyldren, howe much more shall the father of heauen geue an holy spirite to them that desyre it of hym?

²⁰ And he arose and wente to his father. And when he was yet a great way of, hys father sawe hym, and had compassyon and ran and fell on hys necke, & kyssed hym. ²¹ And the sonne sayed vnto him: father, I haue synned agaynst heauen in thy syghte, & am no more worthy to be called thy sonne. ²² But hys father sayed to hys seruauntes: brynge forthe that beste garmentes, & put it on hym, and put a rynge on hys hande, & showes on hys fete.

¹⁰ Iesus aunswered & sayd vnto hyr: if thou kneweste the gyfte of God, and who it is that sayeth to the geue me drynke, thou wouldeste haue axed of hym, and he woulde haue geuen the water of lyfe.

¹³ And whatsoeuer ye axe in my name that will I do that the father myght be glorifyed by the sonne.

⁷ Yf ye hyd in me and my wordes also hyd in you: axe what ye wyll, and it shalbe done to you.

²³ And in that day shal ye axe me no question. Verely verely I say vnto you: whatsoeuer ye shall axe the father in my name, he wyll geue it you. ²⁴ Hytherto haue ye axed nothyng in my name. Axe and ye shall receyue it, that your ioye maye be full.

¹⁶ To the one part are we the sauoure of death vnto death. And vnto the other parte are we the lauoure of lyfe vnto lyfe. And who is mete vnto these thynges?

¹⁷ Euery good gyfte, and euerye perfecte gyfte, is from aboue and commeth doune from the father of lyght wyth whome is no varyablenes, neyther is he chaunged vnto darkenes.

¹⁷ But the wysedome that is from aboue, is fyrste pure, then peasable, gentle, and easye to be entreated, full of mercye & good frutes, wythoute iudgynge, and wythout simulacyon:

¹⁶ Knoweledge youre fautes one to another; and praye one for another, that ye maye be healed. The prayer of a ryghtuous man auayleth muche yf it be feruente.

²² and whatsoeuer we are, we shall receiue of him, because we kepe his commaundementes, and do these thinges, which are pleasyng in hys sight.

¹⁴ And this is the truste that we haue in him, that yf we axe any thinge, accordinge to hys will he heareth vs. ¹⁵ And yf we knowe that he heareth vs whatsoeuer we axe, we knowe, that we shall haue the peticyons that we desyre of hym.
