²² thys is the answere, that the Lorde hath geuen concernynge hym: Despised art thou, & mocked, O daughter of Syon, he hath shaken his head at the, O doughter of Ierusalem.

For the battel is the Lordes, and he shal geue you into oure handes.

⁴ I coulde speake, as ye do also. But woulde God, that youre soule were in my soules steade: then shoulde I heape vp wordes agaynst you, and shake my heade at you.

² The kynges of the earth stande vp, and the rulers are come to gether, agaynste the Lorde and agaynste hys anoynted. ³ Let vs breake their hondes a sunder, and cast away their yock from vs. ⁴ Neuerthelesse he that dwelleth in heauen, shall laughe them to scorne: yea euen the Lorde hym selfe shall haue them in derysyon.

¹⁴ That I maye shewe all thy prayses within the portes of the daughter of Sion, and reioyse in thy sauynge health.

⁷ Al they that se me, laugh me to scorne: thei shute out their lippes, & shake their heades. ⁸ He trusted in God, let hym delyuer hym: let him helpe hym, if he will haue hym.

¹ Of Dauid. The Lorde is my lyghte and my health: whome then shoulde I feare? the Lorde is the strength of my life, for whom then shuld I be afraied? ² Therfore when the wycked, euen myne enemies and my foes, came vpon me, to eate vp my flesh, stombled and fell. ³ Thoughe an hooste of men were layed agaynst me, yet shall not my hert be afrayed: and though there rose vp warre agaynst me, yet wyll I put my trust in him.

¹⁸ Let the lieng lippes be put to silence which cruely, disdainefully, and despitefully speake against the rightuous.

¹ To the chaunter, a songe of the children of Corah vpon almuth. ⁸ Moreouer the doughter of Syon is lefte alone lyke a cotage in a vyneyard like a watche house in tyme of warre, lyke a beseged cytye.

⁹ Go together ye people, and gather you, herken to all ye of farre countreyes. Mustre you, & gather you: mustre you and gather you, ¹⁰ take your councel together, yet must youre councell come to nought: go in hand with all, yet shall it not prospere. Excepte Emanuel: (that is God) be with vs.

³² yet shall he remayne at Nob that daye. After that, shall he lyft vp his hande agaynst the mount of Sion, and against the hyll of Ierusalem.

¹² and saide: From henceforth shalt thou make no more myrthe, O thou doughter of Sidon: for thou shalt be put doune of the Cethens. Stand vp therfore and go where the enemy will cary the, where thou shalt also haue no reste.

¹¹ Beholde, the Lorde proclameth in the endes of the worlde: tell the doughter Syon: se, thy saluacyon commeth, beholde he bryngeth his treasure wyth hym, and hys worckes go before hym.

¹⁷ This shalt thou saye also vnto them: Myne eyes shall wepe without ceassynge daye and night. For my people shalbe destroyed wyth great harme, and shall perysh wyth a great plage.

¹⁵ Samech. The Lorde hath destroyed all the mightie men, that were in me. He hath proclamed a feast, to slaughter all my best men. The Lord hath troden downe the daughter of Iuda, like as it were in wyne presse.

¹³ Mem. What shall I saye of the, O thou daughter Ierusalem, to whom shall I lycken the? To whom shall I compare the, O thou daughter Sion, to conforte the with all? Thy hurte is lyke a many see, who maye heale the?

⁹ Crye out these thinges among the Gentiles, proclame warre, wake vp the gyauntes, let them drawe nye, let them come vp all the lustye warryours of them. ¹⁰ Make you sweardes of youre plowshares, and speares of youre sycles & sythes. Let the weake man saye: I am stronge. ¹¹ Mustre you, and come, all ye heathen round about: gather you together, there shall the Lorde laye all thy gyauntes to the grounde. ¹² Let the people aryse, & get them to the valleye of Iosaphat, for there wyll I sit, & iudge all Heathen rounde about.

² The vyrgyn Israel shall fal, and neuer ryse vp agayne: she shalbe cast donne vpon her owne grounde, and no man shall helpe her vp.

¹⁴ Geue thankes O doughter Syon, be ioyfull O Israell, reioyce and be glad from thy whole herte, O doughter Ierusalem,

¹⁰ Be glad, and reioyce, O doughter of Sion: for lo, I am come to dwell in the myddeste of the, sayeth the Lord.

⁹ Reioyce thou greatly, O doughter Syon, be glad, O doughter Ierusalem. For lo, thy king commeth vnto the, euen the ryghteous & Sauioure: Lowly and simple is he, he rydeth vpon an asse, & vpon the foale of an asse.

⁵ Tel ye the doughter of Sion: beholde thyne kyng cometh vnto the meke, and sitting vpon an Asse and a colte, the fote of an Asse vsed to the yooke.

³⁹ They that passed by, reuyled hym wagginge their heades
