²⁵ And when he sawe that he could not preuayle agaynste hym, he smote hym vnder the thye, & the senowe of Iacobs thye shranke as he wrestled with him

²² Haste the, and saue thy selfe there, for I can do nothyng tyl thou be come in thyther. And therfore the name of the cyte is called Zoar.

³² wherfore the children of Israell eate not of the senow that shranke vnder the thye, vnto thys daye: bicause that he smote Iacob vnder the thye in the senowe that shroncke.

¹⁴ Be not a frayde thou lytle worme Iacob, & thou despysed Israell for I will helpe the, sayeth the Lorde, and the holy one of Israel thyne auenger.

¹¹ Thus sayeth the Lorde, euen the holy one & maker of Israel: Aske me of thynges for to come, concernynge my sonnes: and put me in remembraunce, as touchyng the worckes of my handes:

³ He toke his brother by the hele, when he was yet in his mothers wombe: & in his strengthe he wrestled with God. ⁴ He stroue with the Aungel, and gat the victorye, so that he praid and desyred hym. He founde him at Bethel, & there he talked with vs.

²² And beholde a woman whych was a Cananite came out of the same costes, and cryed vnto hym sayinge: haue mercy on me Lord the sonne of Dauid, my doughter is piteously vexed with a deuel. ²³ And he gaue her neuer a woorde to aunswer. Then came to hym hys disciples, & besoughte hym saying: sende her away, for she foloweth vs criyng. ²⁴ He aunswered, and saide: I am not sent, but vnto the lost shepe of the house of Israel. ²⁵ Then she came and worshipped him saiyng master helpe me. ²⁶ He aunswered & sayde: It is not good, to take thy chyldrens bread, & to cast it to dogges. ²⁷ She aunswered & said: truth Lord, neuerthelesse the whelpes eate of the crommes, whiche fall from their masters table. ²⁸ Then Iesus aunswered and sayd vnto her: O woman, great is thy fayth, be it to the euen as thou desirest. And her doughter was made whole, euen at that same houre.

⁴⁴ And he lefte them, and went agayne and prayed the thyrde tyme, sayinge the same wordes.

⁵ And he sayde vnto them: Yf any of you shoulde haue a frende, and shoulde go to hym at midnight, and saye vnto hym: frende lende me thre loues, ⁶ for a frende of myne is come out of the waye to me, and I haue nothinge to set before him: ⁷ and he within shoulde aunswere & saye: trouble me not, the dore is now shut, and my seruauntes are with me in the chamber, I cannot ryse, and geue them to the. ⁸ I saye vnto you, thoughe he woulde not arise and geue him, because he is hys frende: yet because of hys importunitie he wold ryse, and geue him as many as he neded.

⁷ And lest I shoulde be exalted out of measure thorowe the aboundaunce of reuelacions there was geuen vnto me vnquyetnes of the fleshe, the messenger of Satan to buffete me: because I shoulde no be exalted oute of measure. ⁸ For thys thynge besought I the Lorde thryse, that it myght departe from me. ⁹ And he sayde vnto me: my grace is suffycyent for the. For my strengthe is made perfecte thorowe weakenes. Very gladly therfor wil I reioyce of my weakenes, that the strength of Christe maye dwell in me
