²⁴ & taried behind hym selfe alone. And ther wresteled a man wyth him vnto the breaking of the day.

⁸ And Rahel sayd: God is turned, and I haue made a chaunge wyth my syster, and haue gotten the vpper hande. And she called hys name: Nepthaly.

²⁸ And he said: thou shalt be called Iacob no more, but Israel. For thou hast wresteled with God and hast preuayled.

³⁰ And Iacob called the name of that place Pheniel for I haue sene God face to face, & yet is my life reserued.

¹⁶ And the augell which hath delyuered me from al euyll, blesse these laddes: that they may be called after my name, and after my father Abraham and Isaac, and that they may growe & multiplye vpon the erth.

²⁷ Than stretched forth Moses hys hande ouer the sea, & it came agayne to hys course early in the mornyng, & the Egypcians fledd agaynste it. Thus the Lorde ouerthrewe the Egypcians in the myddest of the sea,

¹⁷ vntill the day breake, and till the shadowes be gone. Come agayn preuely (O my beloued) lyke as a Roo or a yong hart vnto the mountaynes.

² He shalbe vnto men as a defence for the wynde, & as a refuge for the tempeste, like as a riuer of water in a thurstye place, and the shadowe of a great rocke in a drye land.

³ He toke his brother by the hele, when he was yet in his mothers wombe: & in his strengthe he wrestled with God. ⁴ He stroue with the Aungel, and gat the victorye, so that he praid and desyred hym. He founde him at Bethel, & there he talked with vs. ⁵ Yet the Lorde God of Hostes, euen the Lorde hym selfe remembred him.

²⁴ stryue with your selues to enter in at the strayte gate: For manye I saye vnto you wyl seke to enter in, & shal not be able.

⁴⁴ And he was in agonye, and praied some what longer. And his sweate was lyke droppes of bloude trycklinge doune to the grounde.

²⁶ Lykewyse the spirite also helpeth our infirmityes. For we knowe not what to desyre as we ought: but the spirite maketh intercession mightelye for vs wyth gronynges whiche can not be expressed with tonge. ²⁷ And he that searcheth the hertes knoweth what is the meanynge of the spirite: for he maketh intercession for the sayntes accordinge to the pleasure of God.

³⁰ I beseche you brethren for oure Lorde Iesus Christes sake, and for the loue of the spyryte, that ye healpe me in my busynes, with your prayers to God for me,

⁴⁷ The fyrste man is of the earth, earthlye: the seconde man is the Lorde from heauen.

¹² For we wrestle not againste fleshe and bloude: but against rule, agaynst power, and againste worldlye rulers of the darckenes of thys worlde, againste spyrytuall wickednes, for heauenly thynges.

¹⁸ And praye all wayes wyth all maner prayer and supplicacion: and that in the spirite, and watch therunto with all instaunce and supplication for all sainctes,

¹ I woulde ye knewe what fightinge I haue for your sakes, & for them of Laodicia, and for as many as haue not sene my person in the fleshe,

¹² Epaphras the seruaunte of Christe, which is one of you, saluteth you, and alwaies laboureth feruentlye for you in prayers, that ye maye stande perfecte and full in all that is the wyll of God.

⁷ Which in the daies of his flesh did offer vp praiers and supplications, wyth strong criynge and teares, vnto him that was able to saue hym from death, and was also hearde because of his Godlines.
