²⁷ The inhabiters of Ierusalem & theyr rulers, because they knowe him not, nor yet the voices of the prophetes which are reade euerye Saboth daye, they haue fulfylled them in condempnyng hym.

²⁰ Ye thoughte euel vnto me, but God turned it vnto good to brynge to passe, as it is thys daye, euen to saue moche people a lyue.

²⁹ Iesus answered & sayd vnto them: ye are deceyued and vnderstande not the scriptures, nor yet the power of God.

⁵⁴ But how then shoulde the scriptures be fulfylled: for so must it be. ⁵⁵ The same tyme sayde Iesus to the multitude: ye be come out as it were vnto a thief with sweardes and staues, for to take me. I sat daylye teachynge in the temple amonge you, and ye toke me not. ⁵⁶ Al this was done that the scriptures of the Prophetes myght be fulfylled.

³⁴ And he saide: I tell the Peter, the cocke shal crowe this daye, tyl thou haue thrise denied that thou knowest me.

²⁰ And howe the hye priestes and oure rulers delyuered him to be condempned to death: and haue crucifyed him.

²⁴ And certaine of them which were with vs went their waye to the sepulchre, and founde it euen so as the women had sayde: but hym they sawe not. ²⁵ And he sayed vnto them: O fooles and slowe of hert to beleue all that the Prophetes haue spoken. ²⁶ Ought not Christ to haue suffred these thinges and to enter into his glorye? ²⁷ And he began at Moyses, and at all the Prophetes, & interpreted vnto them in all scryptures, which were written of hym.

⁴⁴ And he sayde vnto them: These are the wordes which I spake vnto you, whyle I was yet with you: that al muste be fulfilled which was written of me in lawe of Moyses and in the prophetes and in the Psalmes. ⁴⁵ Then opened he their wittes, that they myght vnderstande the scriptures,

²⁸ Then sayde Iesus vnto them: when ye haue lyfte vp an hye the sonne of man, then shall ye knowe, that I am he, and that I do nothynge of my self: but as my father hath taught me, euen so I speake:

²¹ But all these thinges wyll they do vnto you, for my names sake, because they haue not knowen him that sent me.

³ And suche thinges shall they do vnto you, because they haue not knowen the father, neyther yet me.

²⁸ After that when Iesus perceyued that all thynges were perfourmed, that the scrypture myght be fulfylled, he sayed: I thyrst. ²⁹ There stode a vessell full of vyneger by. And they fylled a sponge with vyneger, and wounde it aboute with ysope, and put it to hys mouthe. ³⁰ Assone as Iesus had receyued of the vyneger he sayed: It is finyshed: and bowed hys head, and gaue vp the ghoste.

³⁶ These thynges were done, that the scripture shoulde be fulfylled: Ye shall not breake a bone of hym. ³⁷ And agayne another scripture sayeth: They shall loke on hym whome they pearled.

¹⁷ And nowe brethren I wote well that through ignoraunce ye dyd it, as did also your heades.

¹⁴ But they wandred thorow the countreys from Perga to Antioche a citie of the countrye of Pisidia, and went into the synagoge on the Saboth daye, and sat doune. ¹⁵ And after the law and the prophetes we read, the rulers of the synagoge sent vnto them, saiyng: Ye men and brethren, yf ye haue anye sermon to exhort the people, saye on.

²¹ For Moses of olde tyme hath in euerye cytie that preache hym, and he is reade in the synagoges euerye saboth daye.

²² Neuerthelesse I obtained helpe of God, and continue vnto this daye wytnessinge both to smal and to great, saiyng none other thinges, then those which the prophetes and Moyses dyd saye shoulde come ²³ that Christe shoulde suffer, and that he shoulde be the fyrste, that shoulde ryse from death, and shoulde shewe lyghte vnto the people, and to the gentyls.

²³ And when they had appoynted him a daye, there came manye vnto him into hys lodgynge, to whom he expounded and testifyed the kingedome of God, and preached vnto them of Iesu: both out of the Prophetes, euen from morninge to nyghte.

⁸ accordynge as it is wrytten. God hath geuen them the spirite of vnquyetnes: eyes that they should not se, and eares that they shoulde not heare euen vnto thys daye. ⁹ And Dauyd sayth: Let theyr table be made a snare to take them wyth all, and an occasyon to fall, and a reward vnto them. ¹⁰ Let theyr eyes be blynded that they se not: and euer bowe doune theyr backes.

²⁵ I woulde not that thys secrete shoulde be hyd from you my brethren (leste ye should be wyse in youre owne conceptes) that partelye blyndenes is happened in Israell, vntyll the fulnes of the gentyls be come in:

⁸ whiche wisdome none of the rulars of this worlde knewe. For had they knowen it, they would not haue crucified the Lorde of Glorye.

¹⁴ But theyr myndes were blynded. For vntil thys daye remayneth the same couerynge vntaken awaye in the olde testament when they reade it, whiche in Christe is put awaye.

⁴ in whome the God of thys worlde hath blynded the myndes of them which beleue not, leste the lyght of the gloryous gospell of Christe which is the ymage of God shoulde shyne vnto them.

¹³ when before I was a blasphemer and persecuter, and a tyraunte. But I obtayned mercye, because I dyd it ignorauntly thorowe vnbelefe.
