1 Manasseh was twelue yeare olde when he beganne to raygne, & raygned fyfty and fyue yeare in Ierusalem: hys mothers name was Haphzibah. 2 And he dyd that displeased the Lorde, euen after the abhominacions of the Heathen whyche the Lorde caste oute before the chyldren of Israel. And he went 3 and buylt the hilaulters agayne, which Hezekiah hys father had destroyed. And he reared vp aulters to Baal and made groues, as dyd Ahab kinge of Israel. And he bowed him selfe vnto all the hoste of heauen and serued them. 4 And he buylt aulters in the verye house of the Lorde, of whiche the Lorde had sayd: In Ierusalem I wil put my name. 5 And he buylt aulters vnto all the Hoste of heauen, euen in two courtes of the house of the Lorde. 6 And he offered his sonne in fyre, and obserued dismall dayes, and vsed witchcrafte and maintened workers wyth spirites, and tellers of fortuners: and wrought muche wyckednesse in the syght of the Lorde to angre hym. 7 And he put an ymage of a groue that he had made, euen in the very temple of whiche the Lorde had sayd to Dauid and to Salomon hys sonne: in thys house and in Ierusalem whiche I haue chosen out of all trybes of Israel, wil I put my name for euer. 8 Neither wil I make the fete of Israel moue any more out of the lande whiche I gaue their fathers: so that they wilbe diligent to do al I haue commaunded them, and all the lawe that my seruaunt Moses commaunded them. 9 But they herkened not: for Manasseh had led them out of the waye, to do more wyckedly then dyd the heathen people, whiche the Lord destroied from before the chyldren of Israel. 10 And the Lorde spake by his seruauntes the Prophetes sayinge: 11 because Manasseh kynge of Iuda hath done suche abhominacyons, and hath wrought wyckedly aboue all that the Amorites whyche were before him dyd, and hath made Iuda synne also wyth his ydoles.

And he rered vp aulters vnto Baals & made groues & bowed him selfe vnto all the host of heauen and serued them. 4 And he buylt aulters in the house of the Lorde: Of which the Lorde had sayde in Ierusalem shall my name be for euer. 5 And he made aulters vnto all the hoste of heauen in the two courtes of the house of the Lorde. 6 And he burnt his chyldren in fyre in the valey of the sonnes of Hennon. And he obserued dysmalle dayes & occupyed wytch crafte and sorsery, and mayntened workers with spirites & fears of fortunes: & wrought moche euell in the syght of the Lorde, to angre hym wyth all. 7 And he put the kerued Image of an Idole which he had made, in the house of God. Of which house God sayde to Dauid and to Salomon his sonne, in this house here in Ierusalem which I haue chosen out of all the tribes, I wyll put my name for euer, 8 and no moare brynge the seat of Israel from of the lande whiche I haue ordeyned for youre fathers. If so be they shalbe dyligent to do all I haue commaunded by Moses in all the lawe ordinaunces and maners. 9 But Manasseh made Iuda and the enhabiters of Ierusalem to erre and to do worse then the heathen whiche the Lorde destroyed before the chyldren of Israel. 10 And when the Lorde speake to Manasseh and to hys people, they attended not to hym.

2 Chronicles 34:3-4

3 In so much that the eight yeare of hys raygne, when he was yet a lad, he beganne to seke after the God of Dauid hys father. And in the twelueth yeare he beganne to pourge Iuda and Ierusalem of hylaulters, groues, kerued Images, & Images of metal: 4 so that they brake doune the aulters of Baals euen in his presence, and the ydoles that were vpon them, he caused to be destroyed. And the groues, kerued Images, & Images of metall he brake and made dust of them, and strawed it vpon the graues of them that had offered to them.

Isaiah 44:13-20

13 The carpenter, (or ymage caruer) taketh meat of the tymbre: & spredeth forth hys lyne: he maketh it with some coloure: he playneth it, he ruleth it, & squareth it, & maketh it after the ymage of a man, and accordynge to the bewtye of a man: that it maye stande in the temple. 14 Moreouer, he goeth oute to hewe downe Cedre trees: He bryngeth home Elmes and Okes, and other tymbre of the wod. Or els the Fyrre trees which he planted hym self, & soch as the rayne hath swelled, 15 whyche wod serueth for men to burne. Of this he taketh and warmeth him selfe with all: he maketh a fyre of it to bake bred. And afterwarde maketh a God there of, to honoure it: & an Idole to knele before it. 16 One pece he burneth in the fyre, with another he rosteth flesh, that he maye eate roste hys bely full: wyth the thyrde he warmeth hym self, & sayeth: Aha, I am well warmed, I haue bene at the fyre. 17 And of the resydue he maketh hym a God, and an Idole for hym selfe. He kneleth before it, he worshyppeth it, he prayeth vnto it, and sayeth: deliuer me, for thou art my God. 18 Yet men nether considre ner vnderstande, because their eyes are stopped, that they can not se: and their hertes, that they cannot perceyue. 19 They pondre not in their myndes, for they haue nether knowledge ner vnderstandyng, to thyncke thus: I haue brent one pece in the fyre: I haue baked bred with the coles there of, I haue rosted flesh with all, & eaten it: shall I now of the resydue make an abhomynacyon, & fall downe before a rotten pece of wodd? 20 The kepyng of dust, and folishnesse of herte hath turned them asyde: so that none of them can haue a fre conscience to thyncke maye not I erre?

18 Moreouer I sayde vnto their sonnes in the wildernesse: walcke not in the statutes of your forfathers kepe not their ordinaunces, and defyle not youre selues with their Idoles,
