³² And he walked in the waye of Asa his father & bowed not therfrom, to do that was pleasaunt in the syght of the Lord.

¹¹ And Asa dyd that semed ryght in the eyes of the Lorde, lyke Dauid hys father.

² And Asa did that was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God, ³ & toke away the aulters of straungers and the hylaulters, & brake the ymages & cut doune the groues, ⁴ and commaunded Iuda to seke the Lorde God of their fathers, & to do accordyng to the lawe and commaundement. ⁵ And he put away oute of all the cyties of Iuda, the hylaulters and the ydolles: for the kyngedom was quiet before hym.

¹¹ And Asa cryed vnto the Lorde his God and sayd: lord it is all one wyth the to helpe them that haue no power, with few or with many: helpe vs O Lorde oure God, for we truste to the, & in thine name be come agaynst thys multitude. Thou arte the Lorde oure God, let not man preuayle agaynst the. ¹² And the Lord smote the blacke Mores before Asa & Iuda, that they fled. ¹³ And Asa & the people that was with hym, folowed after them as ferre as Gerar. And the blacke Mores were ouerthrowen, that there bode none alyue of them, but were destroyed of the lord, and of the Hoste. And they caryed awaye a myghty greate pray.

⁷ At that same tyme Hanani the sear, came to Asa kyng of Iuda & sayde to hym: because thou trustest in the king of Siria, and trustest not in the Lorde thy God therfore is the host of the kynge of Siria escaped oute of thyne hande. ⁸ Were not the blacke Mores, and they of Libya a great host wyth exceading many charettes and horsemen? And yet because thou trustedest in the Lorde, he delyuered them into thyne handes. ⁹ For the eyes of the Lorde beholde all the earthe, to strength the hertes of them that are hole with him. Herin thou hast done folyshly, and therfore from henceforth thou shalt haue warre. ¹⁰ Whervpon Asa was wrothe with the sear and put hym in the conuertynge house, for he was dyspleased wyth him because of that. Moreouer Aza oppressed certayne of the people the same ceason. ¹¹ The dedes of Aza bothe fyrst and last, are written in the boke of the kynges of Iuda & Israel. ¹² And the .xxxix. yeare of his raigne Asa fel sycke on hys fete, and that his disease exceaded. And therto in his sycknesse he asked no counsel of the Lorde, but of Physycyons.

³ And the Lorde was wyth Iehosaphat, because he walked in the olde wayes of his father Dauid, & sought not Baals, ⁴ but sought the Lorde God of his father, and walked in hys commaundementes, and not after doynges of Israel. ⁵ Therfore the Lorde stablyshed the kyngedome in his hande, and all Iuda brought him presentes, that he became exceadinge ryche and gloriouse. ⁶ And his herte was corageous in the wayes of the Lorde, & he put doune yet more of the hilalaulters and groued out of Iuda.

²¹ For I haue kepte the wayes of the Lord: and haue not behaued my selfe wickedly agaynst my God.

³ The woordes of hys mouth are vnrighteousnes and disceate, he will not be learned to do good.
