¹⁶ Then he sayd: I se al Israel skatered in the mountaines, as shepe that haue no shepard. And the Lorde sayde: these haue no mayster, let them returne euery man to his house in peace.

¹⁷ which may go in and out before them, & to lead them in & out that the congregation of the Lord be not as a flocke of shepe without a shepeheard.

⁷ And now let your handes stere them & playe ye the men, though your mayster Saule be deade. And finallye vnderstande that the house of Iuda haue anointed me kyng ouer them.

² And therto in tyme paste when Saul was kyng ouer vs, thou leddest Israel in and oute. And the Lord hath sayd to the: thou shalt fede my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captayne ouer Israel.

¹⁷ Then he sayde: I sawe all Israell scattered vpon the hylles, as shepe that haue no shepardes. And the Lorde sayde: those haue no mayster, let them returne, euery man to hys house in peace.

³⁴ And a certayne man drew a bow ignorantly and smote the kinge of Israel betwene the ribbes of his harnesse. Wherfore the kinge sayde vnto the dryuer of his charet, turne thy hande and carye me out of the host, for I am hurte. ³⁵ And the battel encreased that daye, and the kynge continued in hys charet before the Sirians and dyed at euen. And the bloude ranne out of the wounde into the botome of the charet. ³⁶ And there went a proclamacyon thorowe oute the Hoste, after the sunne was doune sayinge: euery man to his cytye and to hys own countreye.

³ Therfore chose the beste, & him that most pleaseth you of youre maysters sonnes, & put him on hys fathers seate, & fyght for youre lordes house.

³³ & a certayne man drew his bow ignorauntly & smote the kyng of Israel betwene the yointes of his habergin. And he sayde to the charet man: turne thyne hand, and carye me oute of the Hoste, for I am hurte. ³⁴ And the battel arose that day. How be it, the kynge of Israel continueth standinge in hys charet agaynst the Sirians vntyll euen. And aboute the sonne goynge doune he dyed.

¹ Wo be vnto the shepherdes, that destroye, and scatre my flocke, sayeth the Lorde. ² Wherfore, thys is the commaundement of the Lorde God of Israel, vnto the shepherdes that fede my people: Ye scatre and thrust out my flocke, & loke not vpon them. Therfore now wyll I vyset the wickednes of youre ymaginacyons, sayeth the Lorde:

⁵ Thus are they scatred here and there wythoute a shepherde: yea al the beastes of the felde deuoure them, and they go astraye. ⁶ My shepe go wandrynge vpon all mountaynes, and vpon euerye hye hyl. Yea they be scatred abroade in al feldes, and there is no man, that careth for them, or seketh after them.

⁸ Thus sayth the Lorde God: As trulye as I lyue, for so much as my shepe are robbed, & deuoured of all the wylde beastes of the felde, hauynge no shepherde: and seinge that my shepeherdes take no regarde of my shepe, but fede them selues onely, and not my shepe:

² For vayne is the answere of Idols. The sothsayers se lyes, & tel but vayn dreames: the comforthe that they geue, is nothinge worth. Therfore go they astraye lyke a flocke of shepe, & are troubled, because they haue no sheperde.

⁷ Arise, O thou swerd, vpon my shepeherd, & vpon the prince of my people sayeth the lorde of hostes. Smite the sheperd, & the shepe shal be scatred abroade, & so wil I turne mine hand to the litle ones.

³⁶ But when he sawe the people, he had compassyon on them, because they were pyned awaye, and scattred abroad, euen as shepe hauinge no shepeherde.

⁶⁴ Iesus sayd to him thou hast sayed. Neuertheles I say vnto you, hereafter shall ye se the sonne of men sittynge on the ryght hand of power, and come in the cloudes of the skye.

³⁴ And Iesus went out and sawe muche people, and had compassion on them, because they were lyke shepe, whyche had no shepeherd. And he beganne to teache them many thinges.
