⁶ That we speake of, is wisdome amonge that are perfecte: not the wisdome of this world (whiche go to nought)

¹ In the lande of Nus there was a man called Iob: an innocent & vertuous man, soche one as feared God exchued euell.

¹⁹ He ledeth awaye the Preastes in to captyuyte, and turneth the myghtye vpsyde downe.

²¹ He poureth out confusyon vpon Princes, and comforteth them that haue bene oppressed.

¹ VVhy do the Heathen grudge? why do the people ymagyne vayne thinges? ² The kynges of the earth stande vp, and the rulers are come to gether, agaynste the Lorde and agaynste hys anoynted. ³ Let vs breake their hondes a sunder, and cast away their yock from vs. ⁴ Neuerthelesse he that dwelleth in heauen, shall laughe them to scorne: yea euen the Lorde hym selfe shall haue them in derysyon. ⁵ Then shal he speake vnto them in hys wrath, and vexe them in hys sore displeasure. ⁶ Yet haue I sette my kyng vpon my holy hyll of syon.

¹⁰ The Lorde bryngeth the counsayl of the Heythen to naught, and turneth the deuyces of the people.

³⁷ Kepe innocency, and take hede vnto the thynge that is ryghte, for that shall brynge a man peace at the last.

¹¹ Yea the vndiscrete Princes of Zoan, the councel of the wise Senatoures of Pharao, shall turne to folyshenesse. Those that darre boast & saye of Pharaos behalfe: I am come of wyse people, ¹² I am come of the olde regall Progeny. But where are now thy wyse men? Let them tel the & shewe the, what the Lorde of hostes hath taken in hande agaynst Egipt. ¹³ Fooles are these Prynces of Zoan, & proude are the Princes of Noph: yea they disceyue Egypte with the nobilitye of their stock.

²³ That he bryngeth Prynces to nothyng, and the iudges of the earth to dust:

⁴⁸ Ye shall therfore be perfect, euen as your father which is in heauen, is perfect.

²² He that was sowen among thornes, is he that heareth the worde of God: but the care of thys world, and the disceythfulnes of ryches choke the word, & so is he made vnfruteful.

²¹ And Iesus sayde vnto him, if thou wilt be perfecte go and sell that thou haste, and geue it to the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come and folowe me.

⁸ And the Lord commended the vniust steward because he had done wyslye. For the chyldren of thys worlde are in theyr kynde, wyser then the chyldren of lyght,

²⁵ whiche by the mouth of thy seruaunt Dauid hast said: Why dyd the heathen rage, and the people imagyn vaine thinges. ²⁶ The kinges of the earth stode vp and the rulers came together, againste Lorde and agaynste his Chryste. ²⁷ For of a trueth againste thy holy childe Iesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herode and also Poncius Pilate, with the Gentyls & the people of Israel, gathered them selues together, ²⁸ for to do whatsoeuer thy hande and thy councell determined before to be done.

¹⁸ For the preachyng of the crosse is to them that peryshe folyshnes, but vnto vs whiche are saued, it is the power of God. ¹⁹ For it is written: I will destroye the wysdome of the wyse, and wyll caste awaye the vnderstandinge of the prudent. ²⁰ Where is the wyse? Where is the scribe? Where is the searcher of this worlde?

²⁸ And vile thinges of the world, and thinges whiche are despysed, hath God chosen, yea and thinges of no reputation for to bringe to nought thinges of reputation,

¹ And I brethren when I came to you, came not in gloriousnes of wordes, or of wysdome, shewynge vnto you the testimonye of God.

⁸ whiche wisdome none of the rulars of this worlde knewe. For had they knowen it, they would not haue crucified the Lorde of Glorye.

¹³ which thinges also we speake, not in the conninge wordes of mannes wysdome, but wyth the conning wordes of the holye ghost, makinge spyritual comparisons of spirituall thinges.

²⁰ Brethren be not chyldren in wyt howebeit as concerninge maliciousnes be children: but in wyt be perfect.

¹² Oure reioysinge is this, the testimony of oure conscience, that in synglenes and Godly purenes, and not in fleshely wysdome, but by the grace of God, we haue had oure conuersation in the worlde, and moste of all to youwardes.

⁴ in whome the God of thys worlde hath blynded the myndes of them which beleue not, leste the lyght of the gloryous gospell of Christe which is the ymage of God shoulde shyne vnto them.

¹¹ Finally brethren fare ye well, be perfeccte, be of good comforte, be of one mynde, lyue in peace, and the God of loue, and peace, shal be with you.

² in the whiche in time passed, yet walked accordynge to the course of thys worlde, & after the gouerner that ruleth in the ayer, the spyrite that nowe worketh in the chyldren of vnbelefe,

¹¹ And the very same made some Apostles, some Prophetes, some Euangelistes, some sheperdes, some teachers, ¹² that the saynctes myghte haue all thinges necessarye to worke and ministre wythal, to the edifiynge of the bodye of Christ, ¹³ tyl we euerie one (in the vnitie of fayth, and knowledge of the sonne of God) growe vp into a perfecte man, after the measure of age of the fulnes of Christ.

¹² Not as though I had alreadie atteined to it, either were already perfecte: but I folowe yf that I maye comprehende that, wherin I am comprehended of Christ Iesu. ¹³ Brethren I count not my selfe that I haue gotten it: but one thinge I say. I forget that, whiche is behinde, & stretche my selfe vnto that whiche is before, ¹⁴ and prease vnto the marke appointed, to obteine the reward of the high callinge of God in Christe Iesu. ¹⁵ Let vs therfore as many, as be perfect be thus wyse minded, & yf ye be other wise minded, I pray God open euen this vnto you.

¹² Epaphras the seruaunte of Christe, which is one of you, saluteth you, and alwaies laboureth feruentlye for you in prayers, that ye maye stande perfecte and full in all that is the wyll of God.

¹⁴ But stronge meate belongeth to them that are perfecte, which thorow custome haue theyr wittes exercised to iudge both good and euil also.

² for in many thinges we synne all. Yf a man synne not in worde, the same is a perfect man and able to tame al the bodye.

¹⁵ Thys wysedome descendeth not from aboue: but is earthye, & naturall, and deuelyshe:

¹⁰ The God of al grace, which called you vnto his eternal glory by Christe Iesus, shall hys owne selfe after ye haue suffred a litle affliccion make you perfecte, shall settle, strength and stablishe you.
