Revelation 17 Cross References - Mace

1 Then there came one of the seven angels that had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying "come hither, I will explain to you the judgment of the great whore, that sitteth upon many waters: 2 by whom the kings of the earth became idolaters, and the inhabiters of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of idolatry." 3 so he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet-coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads, and ten horns. 4 and the woman was arrayed in purple, and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stone and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, full of the abominable impurities of idolatry. 5 Upon her forehead this mystical title was written, Babylon the great, the mother of harlots, and abominations of the earth. 6 and I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondred with great admiration. 7 and the angel said to me, wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystical meaning of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8 the beast that thou sawest, was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, shall wonder when they behold the beast that was, and is not, but shall be. 9 the meaning is very comprehensive. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 they likewise signify seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; when he comes, he will continue but a short space. 11 the beast that was, and is not, is himself the eighth: he is of the seven, and shall be destroy'd. 12 the ten horns which you saw, are ten kings, who have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings for a while with the beast. 13 they all agree in this, to give their power and strength to the beast. 14 they will make war with the lamb, but the lamb, who is lord of lords, and king of kings, together with those that are called, chosen, and faithful, shall overcome them. 15 Then he said to me, the waters which you saw, where the prostitute has her seat, are the people, the multitude, nations, and provinces. 16 the ten horns which you saw upon the beast, they shall hate the whore, they shall plunder, and strip her, eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 for God hath put it in their hearts to execute his designs, in agreeing to give their kingdom to the beast, until the divine oracles shall be accomplished. 18 and the woman which you saw, is that great city, which reigns the empress of the kings of the earth.

Revelation 13:1-12

1 Then I saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads, and ten horns; upon his horns were ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 and the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his throne, and great authority. 3 and I saw one of his heads, as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world went wondring after the beast. 4 They worshipped the dragon which had given his power to the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, "who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" 5 there was given to him a mouth speaking great things, and blasphemy; and power was given to him for two and forty months. 6 and he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and those that dwell in heaven, 7 he was permitted to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all the tribes, and provinces, and nations. 8 all that dwell upon the earth will worship him, whose names are not written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the lamb, that was slain. 9 if any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 he hath leadeth into captivity, shall be led into captivity: he that killeth with the sword, shall perish by the sword. here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11 Then I beheld another beast coming out of the earth, it had two horns like a lamb, but it spake like a dragon. 12 he exercised all the power of the first beast by his authority, and caused the earth, and those who dwell therein, to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Revelation 14:8-20

8 And a second angel followed, saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, because she has made all nations drink of the deadly wine of her fornication." 9 And a third angel followed them, crying with a loud voice, "if any man worship the beast, or his image, or receive his mark on his forehead, or in his hand, 10 he shall drink of the wine of the divine vengeance, the strongest wine that can be poured out of the cup of his indignation; He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone, in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the lamb: 11 the smoke of their torment shall ascend for ever and ever: they who worship the beast or his image, they who receive the mark of his name, shall have no rest either day or night." 12 here is the patience of the saints, who keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven, saying to me, "write, blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; yes, from henceforth, saith the spirit, they shall rest from their labours; and the recompence of their labours shall follow them." 14 again I looked, and I saw a white cloud, and there was sitting upon the cloud one like the son of man, having a crown of gold upon his head, 15 and a sharp sickle in his hand. and another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, "thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the reaping time is come; for the 16 harvest of the earth is ripe." so he that sat on the cloud, stretch'd out his sickle to the earth; and the earth was reaped. 17 Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, 18 he also having a sharp sickle. and another angel came out from the altar, who presided over the fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, "stretch out thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are full ripe." 19 so the angel stretch'd out his sickle to the earth, and gathered the vintage of the earth, and cast it into the great wine-press of the divine vengeance. 20 and the grapes were press'd without the City, and blood came out of the wine-press, even to the horse-bridles: for the space of sixteen hundred furlongs.

Revelation 16:1-18

1 THEN I heard a terrible voice from the temple, crying to the seven angels, "go pour out the VIALS of divine vengeance upon the earth." 2 Immediately the FIRST went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisom and grievous ulcer upon the men who had the mark of the beast, and upon those who worshipped his image. 3 The SECOND angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea. 4 The THIRD angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains; and they became blood. 5 and I heard the angel of the waters say, "thou art just, who art, and hast always been holy, because thou hast judged thus: 6 for they have shed the blood of saints and prophets: thou hast given them blood to drink; for they have deserv'd it." 7 and I heard another from the altar say, "oh! Lord God almighty, true and just are thy judgments." 8 The FOURTH angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given to him to scorch mankind with its fire. 9 and men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, who hath power over these plagues: and they repented not, to give him glory. 10 And the FIFTH angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness, and they gnawed their tongues for pain. 11 and blasphemed the God of heaven, because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds. 12 And the SIXTH angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 13 and I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 for they are the spirits of demons working miracles, which make a progress to the kings of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God almighty. 15 "I shall come with surprize, happy he that is upon the watch, and keepeth his garments pure, that his vices may not put him to shame." 16 and he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue, Armageddon. 17 And the SEVENTH angel poured out his vial into the air; and there a loud voice issued from the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "it is done." 18 and there were voices, thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake and so great.
