⁸ Oh let me hear of joy and gladness, that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

¹⁷ "Behold, happy is the man whom God punisheth: therefore, despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. ¹⁸ For though he make a wound, he giveth a medicine again: though he smite, his hand maketh whole again.

² Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are vexed. ³ My soul also is sore troubled; but LORD, how long wilt thou punish me?

⁵ But my trust is in thy mercy, and my heart is joyful in thy salvation.

¹¹ Thou hast turned my heaviness into joy; thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him? Yea, the poor, and him that is in misery, from him that spoileth him?"

³ There is no health in my flesh, because of thy displeasure; neither is there any rest in my bones, by reason of my sin.

⁵ They that sow in tears, shall reap in joy. ⁶ He that now goeth on his way weeping, and beareth forth good seed, shall doubtless come again with joy, and bring his sheaves with him.

¹⁰ And the redeemed of the LORD shall convert, and come to Zion with thanksgiving. Everlasting joy shall they have, pleasure and gladness shall be among them. And as for all sorrow and heaviness, it shall vanish away.

¹⁵ For thus sayeth the high and excellent, even he that dwelleth in everlastingness, whose name is the holy one: I dwell high above and in the sanctuary, and with him also, that is of a contrite and humble spirit: that I may heal a troubled mind, and a contrite heart. ¹⁶ For I chide not ever, and am not wroth without end. ¹ In their adversity they shall seek me, and say, "Come, let us turn again to the LORD: for he hath smitten us, and he shall heal us; ² He hath wounded us, and he shall bind us up again; after two days shall he quicken us, in the third day he shall raise us up, so that we shall live in his sight.

⁴ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

²⁹ Then he called for a light and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, ³⁰ and brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" ³¹ And they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved and thy household." ³² And they preached unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. ³³ And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds, and was baptised, with all that belonged unto him, straightway. ³⁴ When he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and joyed that he with all his household believed on God.
