¹ Hotly pursue this love, yet seek earnestly spiritual gifts, and chiefly that you may prophesy.

³⁰ What then shall we say? That Gentiles who never pursed righteousness have overtaken it, even the righteousness of faith?

⁶ But we have gifts differing according to the grace which was given to us. He that has the gift of prophecy, let him prophesy according to the proportion of his faith.

¹⁹ So then let is eagerly pursue the things that make for peace and the upbuilding of each other.

¹ Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not wish you to be ignorant.

³¹ Desire earnestly the greater gifts. And yet I will go on to show you a still more excellent way.

¹³ Faith, Hope, Love endure—these three; but the greatest of these is Love.

³ But he who prophesies addresses words to men that build up, encourage, and console. ⁴ He who speaks in a tongue upbuilds himself; but he who prophesies upbuilds the church. ⁵ Now I should like you all to speak with "tongues"; but I should rather that you prophesied, For he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be built up.

²⁴ But if all are prophesying when an unlearned or unbelieving man enters, he is convicted in conscience by your speaker, he feels himself judged by all, ²⁵ and the secret depths of his heart are laid open. So he will fall upon his face and worship God, saying, "Of a truth, God is with you."

³⁷ If any one thinks himself a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that what I am now writing you is a command of the Lord.

³⁹ So, my brothers, be ambitious for the gift of prophecy, and speak not against the gifts of tongues.

¹⁴ Let all that you do be done in love.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ.

²⁰ Do not despise prophesyings.

¹⁴ Never neglect the gift within you, which was given in fulfilment of prophecy at the time of the laying on of hands by the elders.

¹⁰ She must be well reputed for good works, as one who has brought up a family, received strangers with hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, relieved the distressed, and diligently followed every good work.

¹¹ But you, O servant of God, flee from these things, and run after integrity, piety, faith, love, stedfastness, gentleness.

²² Flee from the passions of youth, but run after righteousness, faith, love, and peace, in company with those who out of a pure heart call upon the Lord.

¹⁴ Run swiftly after peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

¹¹ Let him turn from evil and do good, Let him seek peace, and pursue it. ¹² For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, And his ears are open to their cry; But the face of the Lord is set against evil-doers. ¹³ Yet who will harm you if you become zealous for the good?

⁷ and to piety brotherly love, and to brotherly love, love itself.

¹¹ Do not imitate what is evil, beloved, but that which is good. He who does good is of God; he who does evil has never gazed on God.
