¹⁵ And she said, Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her god. Return after your sister-in-law.

¹⁵ And if it seems evil to you* to serve Jehovah, choose you* this day whom you* will serve: whether the gods which your* fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you* dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You* cannot serve Jehovah, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your* transgression nor your* sins.

²⁴ Will you not possess what Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whomever Jehovah our God has dispossessed from before us, them will we possess.

¹⁹ Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, Why do you also go with us? Return and abide with the king, for you are a foreigner and also an exile. Return to your own place. ²⁰ You came but yesterday, should I this day make you go up and down with us, seeing I go where I may? Return and take back your brothers. Mercy and truth be with you.

² And Elijah said to Elisha, I beseech you, remain here for Jehovah has sent me as far as Bethel. And Elisha said, As Jehovah lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they went down to Bethel.

³ The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

⁵ But as for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of wickedness.

⁶ and those who are turned back from following Jehovah and those who have not sought Jehovah, nor inquired after him.

²⁰ And he who was sown upon the rocky-areas, this is he who hears the word and immediately is receiving it with joy; ²¹ but he does not have root in himself, but is temporary, and when affliction or persecution has happened to him because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

²⁶ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brethren and sisters, and also, still his own life, he is not able to be my disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not bear his own cross, and comes after me, is not able to be my disciple.
²⁸ For which out of you, wishing to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, if he has the means toward its realization? ²⁹ Lest, when he has laid a foundation and is not strong-enough to complete, all who view it may begin to mock him, ³⁰ saying, This one began to build and was not strong-enough to complete.
³¹ Or what king, while traveling to encounter a different king in war, has not sit down first and plans if he is able at ten-thousand to encounter the one who is coming against him with twenty thousand? ³² Otherwise, having sent an ambassador, while still being faraway, he asks for the terms of peace. ³³ Therefore, so everyone out of you who is not bidding farewell to all his own possessions, he is not able to be my disciple.

²⁸ And they drew near to the village, where they were traveling and he was making-like that he was to travel farther.

³⁸ But my righteous one will be living from faith and if he retreats back, my soul does not delight in him.’

¹⁹ They went out away from us, but they were not from us; for if they had been from us, they would have remained with us, but they went out, in order that they might be made manifest that all of them are not from us.
