¹ We give thanks to you, O God. We give thanks, for your name is near. Men tell of your wondrous works.

²¹ You* take heed before him and listen to his voice, provoke him not. For he will not pardon your* transgression, because my name is in him.

⁶ And Jehovah passed by before him and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and truth, ⁷ keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the sons' sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.

⁷ For what great nation is there that has a god so near to them, as Jehovah our God is whenever we call upon him?

³³ Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard and live? ³⁴ Or has God ever tried to go and take for him a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs and by wonders and by war and by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm and by great terrors, according to all that Jehovah your* God did for you* in Egypt before your* eyes?

¹ We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the days of long-ago.

¹ Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, because my soul takes refuge in you. Yes, in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge until calamities have passed by.

¹ Do you* indeed speak righteousness in silence? Do you* judge in uprightness, O you* sons of men?

¹ God is known in Judah. His name is great in Israel.

² I will worship toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name because your loving kindness and for your truth. Because you have magnified your word above all your name.

¹⁸ Jehovah is near to all those who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth.

⁶ There is none like you, O Jehovah. You are great and your name is great in might.
