⁹ Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

¹⁹ Then the Ziphites came up to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the forest, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of the desert? ²⁰ Now therefore, O king, come down, according to all the desire of your soul to come down and our part will be to deliver him up into the king's hand.
²¹ And Saul said, You* are blessed of Jehovah, for you* have had compassion on me.

¹³ For this cause he was hired, that I should be afraid and do so and sin and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.

¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. ¹¹ If they say, Come with us. Let us lay wait for blood. Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause. ¹² Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol and whole, as those who go down into the pit. ¹³ We will find all precious substance. We will fill our houses with spoil. ¹⁴ You will cast your lot among us. We will all have one bag.

¹² to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things, ¹³ who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, ¹⁴ who rejoice to do evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, ¹⁵ who are crooked in their ways and wayward in their paths,

³¹ Do not envy the man of violence and choose none of his ways.

²⁶ A righteous man is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked makes them go-astray.

¹⁷ Therefore beloved, knowing beforehand these things, guard yourselves, in order that you might not fall from your own firmness, having been led away in the error of the immoral.
