¹⁰ And he sent and beheaded John in the prison.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

³⁰ In vain I have struck your* sons. They received no correction. Your* own sword has devoured your* prophets like a destroying lion.

¹² But I am saying to you, that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did as many things as they wished to him. So the Son of Man is also about to suffer by them.

³⁵ And then the farmers took his bondservants and whipped one, and killed one and stoned one. ³⁶ Again, he sent other bondservants, more-than the first, and they did to them likewise.

³ and sent forth his bondservants to call to those who have been invited to the marriage-feast, and they were not willing to come. ⁴ Again he sent forth other bondservants, saying, Say to those who have been invited, Behold, I prepared my meal; my oxen and my fattened calves have been sacrificed, and all things are prepared. Come-here to the marriage-feast. ⁵ But they neglecting it, went away, one to his own field, another to his merchandise; ⁶ and the rest took-hold of his bondservants, and abused them and killed them.

³⁴ Because of this, behold, I am sending to you prophets and wise men and scribes, and out of them you will be killing and will be crucifying, and some of them you will be scourging in your synagogues and will be persecuting from city to city, ³⁵ so that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Assuredly I am saying to you, All these things will be coming upon this generation.

²⁷ And immediately, the king sent forth an executioner and commanded his head to be brought. ²⁸ Now he went and beheaded him in the prison, and brought his head upon a platter and gave it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother. ²⁹ And when his disciples heard of it, they came and lifted up his corpse and laid it in a tomb.

¹³ But I am saying to you, that Elijah has come, and they have also done to him as many things as they willed, just-as it has been written of him.

⁹ And Herod said, I beheaded John, but who is this one, concerning whom I am hearing such things? Now he was seeking to see him.

⁷ And whenever they completed their testimony, the beast which is ascending out of the abyss, will make war with them and overcome them and kill them.
