¹ And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each of them took his censer and put fire in it and laid incense on it and offered strange fire before Jehovah, which he had not commanded them.

²³ And Aaron took him Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, as a wife and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

¹ And he said to Moses, Come up to Jehovah, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and seventy of the elders of Israel and worship you* afar off.

⁹ Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and seventy of the elders of Israel went up.

³ And you will make its pots to take away its ashes and its shovels and its basins and its forks and its censors; all the vessels of it you will make of brass.

¹ And bring you near to you Aaron your brother and his sons with him, from among the sons of Israel, that he may minister to me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

¹ And you will make an altar to burn incense upon. You will make it of acacia wood. ² A cubit will be the length of it and a cubit the breadth of it (it will be square) and two cubits will be the height of it. The horns of it will be of one piece with it. ³ And you will overlay it with pure gold, the top of it and the sides of it all around and the horns of it. And you will make to it a crown of gold all around. ⁴ And two golden rings you will make for it under the crown of it, upon the two ribs of it, upon the two sides of it you will make them. And they will be for places for staves with which to bear it. ⁵ And you will make the staves of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. ⁶ And you will put it before the veil that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy-seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with you.
⁷ And Aaron will burn in it incense of sweet spices. Every morning, when he dresses the lamps, he will burn it. ⁸ And when Aaron lights the lamps at evening, he will burn it, a perpetual incense before Jehovah throughout your* genealogy. ⁹ You* will offer no strange incense on it, nor burnt offering, nor meal offering. And you* will pour no drink offering on it.

³⁴ And Jehovah said to Moses, Take to you sweet spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, sweet spices with pure frankincense, of each there will be a like weight. ³⁵ And you will make of it incense, a perfume after the art of the perfumer, seasoned with salt, pure and holy. ³⁶ And you will beat some of it very small and put of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with you. It will be to you* most holy.

¹¹ and the anointing oil and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place.
According to all that I have commanded you they will do.

²⁹ And he made the holy anointing oil and the pure incense of sweet spices, after the art of the perfumer.

³ And he made all the vessels of the altar: the pots and the shovels and the basins, the forks and the censors. All the vessels of it he made of brass.

²⁷ and he burnt incense of sweet spices on it, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

²⁴ And there came out fire from before Jehovah and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

¹ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before Jehovah and died,

¹² And he will take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before Jehovah and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small and bring it within the veil.

⁹ They will therefore keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it and die in it if they profane it. I am Jehovah who sanctifies them.

² And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. ³ These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests who were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office. ⁴ And Nadab and Abihu died before Jehovah when they offered strange fire before Jehovah in the wilderness of Sinai and they had no sons. And Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the presence of Aaron their father.

⁶ This do: You* take censers, Korah and all his company, ⁷ and put fire in them and put incense upon them before Jehovah tomorrow. And it will be that the man whom Jehovah chooses, he is holy. You* take too much upon you*, you* sons of Levi.

¹⁶ And Moses said to Korah, You and all your company be before Jehovah, you and they and Aaron, tomorrow. ¹⁷ And take you* every man his censer and put incense upon them and bring you* before Jehovah every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers, you also and Aaron, each his censer. ¹⁸ And they took every man his censer and put fire in them and laid incense on it and stood at the door of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron.

⁴⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, Take your censer and put fire in it from the altar and lay incense on it and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for there is wrath gone out from Jehovah. The plague has begun.

⁶¹ And Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before Jehovah.

² You* will not add to the word which I command you*, neither will you* diminish from it, that you* may keep the commandments of Jehovah your* God which I command you*.

³² Whatever thing I command you*, that will you* observe to do. You will not add to it, nor diminish from it.

³ and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded,

¹ And behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of Jehovah to Bethel. And Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense. ² And he cried against the altar by the word of Jehovah and said, O altar, altar, Jehovah says thus: Behold, a son will be born to the house of David, Josiah by name. And upon you will he sacrifice the priests of the high places that burn incense upon you and men's bones they will burn upon you.

¹⁶ But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly and he trespassed against Jehovah his God. For he went into the temple of Jehovah to burn incense upon the altar of incense. ¹⁷ And Azariah the priest went in after him and with him eighty priests of Jehovah, who were valiant men.
¹⁸ And they withstood Uzziah the king and said to him, It does not pertain to you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Jehovah, but to the priests the sons of Aaron who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary. For you have trespassed, neither will it be for your honor from Jehovah God.
¹⁹ Then Uzziah was angry. And he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of Jehovah, beside the altar of incense. ²⁰ And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests, looked upon him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead. And they thrust him out quickly from there. Yes, he himself also hastened to go out, because Jehovah had struck him.

² Let my prayer be set forth as incense before you, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

³¹ And they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into my mind.

⁵ and have built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt offerings to Baal, which I commanded not, nor spoke it, neither did it come into my mind,

³⁵ And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

⁸ in that you* provoke me to anger with the works of your* hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you* have gone to journey, that you* may be cut off and that you* may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

¹⁵ Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁹ And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?
²⁰ Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men and to the women, even to all the people who had given him that answer, saying, ²¹ The incense that you* burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you* and your* fathers, your* kings and your* rulers and the people of the land, did Jehovah not remember them and did it not come into his mind?

⁹ according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn-incense, when he entered into the temple of the Lord. ¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside in the hour of incense. ¹¹ And a messenger of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.

⁴ holding a golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant, having been covered all around on every-side with gold, in which was the golden jar holding the manna and Aaron’s scepter which had sprouted and the tablets of the covenant;

³ And another messenger came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer, and many incenses were given to him in order that he should give it to the prayers of all the holy-ones upon the golden altar which is in the sight of the throne. ⁴ And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the holy-ones, went up in God’s sight out of the messenger’s hand. ⁵ And the messenger has taken the censer, and he filled it from the fire of the altar and cast it to the earth and there became thunders and voices and lightnings and an earthquake.
