¹⁹ You * say, God lays up his wickedness for his sons. Let him recompense it to himself that he may know it.

⁷ If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at the door. Its desire will be for you and you should rule over it.

⁵ You will not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them, because I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me,

³⁴ Is not this laid up in store with me, sealed up among my treasures?

⁴¹ if I flash my glittering sword and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to my adversaries and will recompense those who hate me.

³⁹ And I am this day weak, though anointed king and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me. Jehovah reward the evildoer according to his wickedness.

²⁴ Then you will lay up gold as dust and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

⁵ He will reward the evil to my enemies. Destroy them in your truth.

⁹ Let his sons be fatherless and his wife a widow. ¹⁰ Let his sons be vagabonds and beg and let them seek out of their desolate places. ¹¹ Let a creditor exact all that he has and let strangers make spoil of his labor.
¹² Let there be none to prolong kindness to him, nor let there be any to have pity on his fatherless sons. ¹³ Let his posterity be cut off. Let their name be blotted out in the following generation.
¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Jehovah and do not let the sin of his mother be blotted out.
¹⁵ Let them be before Jehovah continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth, ¹⁶ because he did not remember to show kindness, but persecuted the poor and needy man and the broken in heart, to kill.
¹⁷ Yes, he loved cursing and it came to him. And he did not delight in blessing and it was far from him.
¹⁸ He also clothed himself with cursing as with his garment and it came into his inward parts like water and like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be to him as the garments with which he covers himself and for the belt with which he is girded continually.
²⁰ This is the reward of my adversaries from Jehovah and of those who speak evil against my soul.
²¹ But deal with me, O Jehovah the Lord, for your name's sake. Because your loving kindness is good, deliver me, ²² because I am poor and needy and my heart is wounded within me.
²³ I have gone like the shadow when it declines. I am tossed up and down as the locust. ²⁴ My knees are weak through fasting and my flesh fails of fatness.
²⁵ I also have become a reproach to them. When they see me, they shake their head.
²⁶ Help me, O Jehovah my God. O save me according to your loving kindness, ²⁷ that they may know that this is your hand, that you, Jehovah, have done it.
²⁸ Let them curse, but you bless. When they arise, they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice.
²⁹ Let my adversaries be clothed with dishonor and let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.
³⁰ I will give great thanks to Jehovah with my mouth. Yes, I will praise him among the multitude. ³¹ Because he will stand at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those who judge his soul.

²¹ Prepare you* slaughter for his sons for the iniquity of their fathers, that they not rise up and possess the earth and fill the face of the world with cities.

⁴ Surely he has borne our griefs and has carried our sorrows.
Yet we esteemed him stricken, struck by God and afflicted. ⁵ But he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed.
⁶ All we like sheep have gone-astray. We have turned every one to his own way and Jehovah has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

²⁹ In those days they will no more say, The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the son's teeth are set on edge.

² What do you* mean, that you* use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the son's teeth are set on edge?

¹⁴ Now behold, if he begets a son, who sees all his father's sins, which he has done and fears and does not do such like,

¹⁹ Yet you* say, Why does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done what is lawful and right and has kept all my statutes and has done them, he will surely live. ²⁰ The soul that sins, it will die.
The son will not bear the iniquity of the father, nor will the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of a righteous man will be upon him and the wickedness of a wicked man will be upon him.

¹⁸ Then you* will return and discern between the righteous man and the wicked man, between he who serves God and he who does not serve him.

¹⁹ Do not store up treasures for you upon the earth, where moth and rust ingest, and where thieves burrow through your^\'b0 wall and steal. ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust ingest, and where thieves do not burrow through or steal.

²⁷ For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his messengers, and then he will be giving to each one according to his practice.

³¹ So-then you are testifying to yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. ³² And you, fill up the measure of your fathers. ³³ Serpents, offspring of vipers! How may you flee from the judgment of hell? ³⁴ Because of this, behold, I am sending to you prophets and wise men and scribes, and out of them you will be killing and will be crucifying, and some of them you will be scourging in your synagogues and will be persecuting from city to city, ³⁵ so that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

⁵ But you store up wrath for yourself according to your hardness and unrepentant heart in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

²¹ For the one who knew no sin, he was made the sin offering on our behalf; in order that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith showed to ward me many evils. May the Lord give to him according to his works;

⁶ Repay to her as she has also given to you and you do this double to her–double again according to her works; in the cup which she mingled, mingle to her double again.
