¹⁹ But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter. And I did not know that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit of it. And let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may no more be remembered.

¹³ Man does not know the price of it, nor is it found in the land of the living.

¹³ I believe that I will see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living.

¹³ Because I have heard the slander of many. Terror was on every side, while they took counsel together against me. They devised to take away my life.

¹⁵ But in my adversity they rejoiced and gathered themselves together. The slayers gathered themselves together against me and I did not know it. They tore me and ceased not.

³² A wicked man watches a righteous man and seeks to kill him. ³³ Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

⁵ God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up and pluck you out of your tent and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

⁴ They have said, Come and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

¹³ Let his posterity be cut off. Let their name be blotted out in the following generation.

⁶ because he will never be moved. The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.

⁹ I will walk before Jehovah in the land of the living.

⁵ I cried to you, O Jehovah. I said, You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.

²² He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,

⁷ The memory of a righteous man is praised, but the name of the wicked will rot.

⁷ And the instruments of the churl are evil. He devises wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.

¹¹ I said, I will not see Jehovah, even Jehovah in the land of the living. I will behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

⁷ He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth. As a lamb that is led to the slaughter and as a sheep that is mute before its shearers, so he opened not his mouth.
⁸ In his humiliation his justice was taken away. And as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?

¹⁸ Then they said, Come and let us devise devices against Jeremiah. For the law will not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us kill* him with the tongue and let us not give heed to any of his words.

¹⁰ For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce and we will denounce him, say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall. Perhaps he will be persuaded and we will prevail against him and we will take our revenge on him.

²⁶ And after the sixty-two weeks the anointed one will be cut off and will have nothing. And the people of the prince who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary and the end of it will be with a flood. And even to the end will be war; desolations are determined.

³ Then the high-priests and the scribes and the elders of the people were gathered together to the courtyard of the high-priest, who was called Caiaphas; ⁴ and they counseled together in order that they might take-hold of Jesus with treachery, and might kill him.

¹⁰ And in the harvest season, he sent a bondservant to the farmers, in order that they might give to him from the fruit of the vineyard, but the farmers whipped him and sent him away empty handed. ¹¹ And he sent yet a different bondservant, and they also whipped and dishonored him, and sent him away empty. ¹² And he sent yet a third, and they also traumatized him and cast him forth. ¹³ But the lord of the vineyard said, What should I do? I will be sending my beloved son; perchance seeing him, they will be revering him. ¹⁴ But when the farmers saw him, they were reasoning with themselves, saying, This is the heir. Come-here. We should kill him, in order that the inheritance may become ours. ¹⁵ And they cast him forth outside the vineyard, and killed him. Therefore, what will the lord of the vineyard do to them?
