Jeremiah 12 Cross References - MLV

1 You are righteous, O Jehovah, when I contend with you. Yet I would reason the case with you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those at ease who deal very treacherously? 2 You have planted them. Yes, they have taken root, they grow. Yes, they bring forth fruit. You are near in their mouth and far from their heart. But you, O Jehovah, know me. You see me and try my heart toward you.
3 Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter and prepare them for the day of slaughter. 4 How long will the land mourn and the herbs of whole country wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell in it, the beasts are consumed and the birds, because they said, He will not see our latter end.

It mourns to me, being desolate. The whole land is made desolate, because no man lays it to heart. 12 Destroyers have come upon all the bare heights in the wilderness. For the sword of Jehovah devours from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land. No flesh has peace. 13 They have sown wheat and have reaped thorns. They have put themselves to pain and profit nothing. And you* will be ashamed of your* fruits, because of the fierce anger of Jehovah.
14 Jehovah says thus against all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: Behold, I will pluck them up from their land and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them.

16 And it will happen, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, As Jehovah lives, even as they taught my people to swear by Baal, then they will be built up in the midst of my people. 17 But if they will not hear, then I will pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it, says Jehovah.

16 And they send their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God in truth, and do not care concerning anyone’s appearance; for you do not look at the countenance of men. 17 Therefore tell us, What do you think? 24 For a certain man, Demetrius by name, (a silversmith making miniature silver temples of Artemis), was providing not just a small business to the craftsmen; 25 whom he accumulated together the other workers of such things and said, Men, you know our prosperity is from this business. 26 And you view and hear, that not only from Ephesus, but almost all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and seduced a considerable crowd, saying that they are not gods, those born through man’s hands. 27 But not only is this part for us in peril and it is to go into disrepute but also the temple of the great goddess Artemis is to be counted as nothing and her majesty is about to be demolished, what the whole of Asia and inhabited-earth is worshiping.
28 Now having heard this, and having become full of fury, they were crying out, saying, Great is Artemis of Ephesus. 29 And the whole city was filled with confusion and they rushed united into the theater, having seized Paul’s fellow traveling-associates, Gaius and Aristarchus, who were Macedonians.

Lamentations 2:1-22

1 How the Lord has covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger! He has cast down the beauty of Israel from heaven to the earth and has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger. 2 The Lord has swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob and has not pitied. In his wrath he has thrown down the strongholds of the daughter of Judah. He has brought them down to the ground. He has profaned the kingdom and the rulers of it.
3 In fierce anger he has cut off all the horn of Israel. He has drawn back his right hand from before the enemy. And he has burned up Jacob like a flaming fire which devours all around. 4 He has bent his bow like an enemy. He has stood with his right hand as an adversary and has slain all who were pleasant to the eye. He has poured out his wrath like fire in the tent of the daughter of Zion.
5 The Lord has become as an enemy. He has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces. He has destroyed his strongholds. And he has multiplied mourning and lamentation in the daughter of Judah.
6 And he has taken away his tabernacle violently, as a garden. He has destroyed his place of assembly. Jehovah has caused solemn assembly and Sabbath to be forgotten in Zion. And in the indignation of his anger has despised the king and the priest.
7 The Lord has cast off his altar. He has spurned his sanctuary. He has given up the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy. They have made a noise in the house of Jehovah, as in the day of a solemn assembly.
8 Jehovah has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion. He has stretched out the line. He has not withdrawn his hand from destroying. And he has made the rampart and wall to lament, they languish together. 9 Her gates are sunk into the ground. He has destroyed and broken her bars. Her king and her rulers are among the nations where the law is not. Yes, her prophets find no vision from Jehovah.
10 The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground. They keep silence. They have cast up dust upon their heads. They have girded themselves with sackcloth. The virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.
11 My eyes fail with tears, my heart is troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, because the young sons and the nursing-babes faint in the streets of the city. 12 They say to their mothers, Where is grain and wine? when they faint as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul is poured out into their mothers' bosom.
13 What shall I testify to you? What shall I liken to you, O daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I compare to you, that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For your breach is great like the sea; who can heal you?
14 Your prophets have seen false and foolish visions for you. And they have not uncovered your iniquity, to bring back your captivity, but have seen for you false oracles and causes of banishment.
15 All who pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men called The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? 16 All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you. They hiss and gnash the teeth. They say, We have swallowed her up. Certainly this is the day that we looked for. We have found, we have seen it.
17 Jehovah has done what he purposed. He has fulfilled his word that he commanded in the days of long-ago. He has thrown down and has not pitied. And he has caused the enemy to rejoice over you. He has exalted the horn of your adversaries.
18 Their heart cried to the Lord. O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night. Give yourself no respite. Do not let the apple of your eye cease. 19 Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches. Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young sons, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.
20 See, O Jehovah and behold to whom you have done thus! Shall the women eat their fruit, the sons who are dandled in the hands? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord? 21 The youth and the old man lie on the ground in the streets. My virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword. You have slain them in the day of your anger. You have slaughtered and not pitied.
22 You have called, as in the day of a solemn assembly, my terrors on every side. And there was none who escaped or remained in the day of Jehovah's anger. My enemy has consumed those whom I have dandled and brought up.

They will set themselves against you with buckler and shield and helmet all around. And I will commit the judgment to them and they will judge you according to their judgments.
25 And I will set my jealousy against you and they will deal with you in fury. They will take away your nose and your ears and your residue will fall by the sword. They will take your sons and your daughters and your residue will be devoured by the fire.

Gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I sacrifice for you*, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that you* may eat flesh and drink blood.
18 You* will eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the rulers of the earth, of rams, of lambs and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatten sheep of Bashan. 19 And you* will eat fat till you* are full and drink blood till you* are drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you*. 20 And you* will be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men and with all men of war, says the lord Jehovah.

Psalms 80:8-16

8 You brought a vine out of Egypt. You drove out the nations and planted it. 9 You prepared a place before it and it took deep root and filled the land. 10 The mountains were covered with the shadow of it and the branches of it were like cedars of God. 11 It sent out its limbs to the sea and its offshoots to the River.
12 Why have you broken down its walls, so that all those who pass by the way pluck it? 13 The boar out of the wood ravages it and the wild beasts of the field feed on it.
14 Turn again, we beseech you, O God of hosts. Look down from heaven, and behold and visit this vine, 15 and the stock which your right hand planted and the branch that you made strong for yourself. 16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down. They perish at the rebuke of your countenance.

Isaiah 5:1-7

1 Let me sing for my well-beloved a song of my beloved concerning his vineyard. My well-beloved had a vineyard in a very fruitful hill. 2 And he dug it and gathered out the stones of it and planted it with the choicest vine and built a tower in the midst of it and also hewed out a winepress in it. And he looked that it should bring forth grapes and it brought out wild grapes.
3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge, I beseech you*, between me and my vineyard. 4 What could have been done more to my vineyard that I have not done in it? Why, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, it brought out wild grapes?
5 And now I will tell you* what I will do to my vineyard. I will take away the hedge of it and it will be eaten up. I will break down the wall of it and it will be trodden down. 6 And I will lay it waste. It will not be pruned nor hoed, but there will come up briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
7 For the vineyard of Jehovah of hosts is the house of Israel and the men of Judah his pleasant plant. And he looked for justice, but, behold, oppression, for righteousness, but, behold, a cry.

I will be sending my beloved son; perchance seeing him, they will be revering him. 14 But when the farmers saw him, they were reasoning with themselves, saying, This is the heir. Come-here. We should kill him, in order that the inheritance may become ours. 15 And they cast him forth outside the vineyard, and killed him. Therefore, what will the lord of the vineyard do to them? 16 He will come and destroy these farmers, and will be giving the vineyard to others.

3 Therefore the strength of Pharaoh will be your* shame and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt your* confusion. 4 For their rulers are at Zoan and their ambassadors have come to Hanes. 5 They will all be ashamed because of a people who cannot profit them, who are not a help nor profit, but a shame and also a reproach.

Ephraim will not envy Judah and Judah will not besiege Ephraim. 14 And they will fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines on the west. Together they will despoil the sons of the east. They will put forth their hand upon Edom and Moab and the sons of Ammon will obey them.
15 And Jehovah will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea. And with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River and will kill* it into seven streams and cause men to march over dry shod. 16 And there will be a highway for the remnant of his people, who will remain, from Assyria, like as there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

Jeremiah 50:9-17

9 For behold, I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country and they will set themselves in array against her. From there she will be taken. Their arrows will be as of an expert mighty man; none will return in vain. 10 And Chaldea will be a prey. All who prey upon her will be satisfied, says Jehovah.
11 Because you* are glad, because you* rejoice, O you* who plunder my heritage, because you* are wanton as a heifer that treads out the grain and neigh as strong horses, 12 your* mother will be utterly put to shame. She who bore you* will be confounded. Behold, she will be the hindermost of the nations, a wilderness, a dry land and a desert. 13 Because of the wrath of Jehovah she will not be inhabited, but she will be entirely desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished and hiss at all her plagues.
14 Set yourselves in array against Babylon all around, all you* who bend the bow. Shoot at her; spare no arrows. For she has sinned against Jehovah. 15 Shout against her all around. She has submitted herself. Her ramparts are fallen. Her walls are thrown down. For it is the vengeance of Jehovah. Take vengeance upon her. As she has done, do to her. 16 Cut off the sower from Babylon and he who handles the sickle in the time of harvest. For fear of the oppressing sword they will turn each one to his people and they will flee each one to his own land.

He has cast me out. 35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, the inhabitant of Zion will say. And, My blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, Jerusalem will say.

Ezekiel 25:1-17

1 And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, 2 Son of man, set your face toward the sons of Ammon and prophesy against them.
3 And say to the sons of Ammon, Hear the word of the lord Jehovah. The lord Jehovah says thus: Because you said, Aha, against my sanctuary when it was profaned and against the land of Israel when it was made desolate and against the house of Judah when they went into captivity, 4 therefore, behold, I will deliver you to the sons of the east for a possession and they will set their encampments in you and make their dwellings in you. They will eat your fruit and they will drink your milk. 5 And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels and the sons of Ammon a couching-place for flocks.
And you* will know that I am Jehovah.
6 For thus says the lord Jehovah: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped with the feet and rejoiced with all the spite of your soul against the land of Israel, 7 therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand upon you and will deliver you for a spoil to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and I will cause you to perish out of the countries. I will destroy you.
And you will know that I am Jehovah.
8 The lord Jehovah says thus: Because Moab and Seir say, Behold, the house of Judah is like all the nations, 9 therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country–Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon and Kiriathaim– 10 open to the sons of the east, against the sons of Ammon. And I will give them for a possession, that the sons of Ammon may not be remembered among the nations. 11 And I will execute judgments upon Moab.
And they will know that I am Jehovah.
12 The lord Jehovah says thus: Because Edom has dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance and has greatly offended and revenged himself upon them, 13 therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: I will stretch out my hand upon Edom and will cut off man and beast from it and I will make it desolate. From Teman, even to Dedan they will fall by the sword.
14 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel and they will do in Edom according to my anger and according to my wrath. And they will know my vengeance, says the lord Jehovah.
15 The lord Jehovah says thus: Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge and have taken vengeance with spite of soul to destroy with everlasting enmity, 16 therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Behold, I will stretch out my hand upon the Philistines and I will cut off the Cherethites and destroy the remnant of the sea coast. 17 And I will execute great vengeance upon them with wrathful rebukes.
And they will know that I am Jehovah when I will lay my vengeance upon them.

Ezekiel 28:25

Ezekiel 34:12-13

12 As a shepherd seeks out his flock, in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered abroad, so I will seek out my sheep and I will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.
13 And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them upon the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses and in all the inhabited places of the country.

Ezekiel 35:1-15

1 Moreover the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, 2 Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir and prophesy against it. 3 And say to it, The lord Jehovah says thus: Behold, I am against you, O Mount Seir and I will stretch out my hand against you and I will make you a desolation and an astonishment. 4 I will lay your cities waste and you will be desolate.
And you will know that I am Jehovah.
5 Because you have had a everlasting enmity and have given over the sons of Israel to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end, 6 therefore, as I live, says the lord Jehovah, I will prepare you to blood and blood will pursue you. Since you have not hated blood, therefore blood will pursue you.
7 Thus I will make Mount Seir an astonishment and a desolation and I will cut off from it he who passes through and he who returns. 8 And I will fill its mountains with its slain. In your hills and in your valleys and in all your watercourses will fall who are slain with the sword. 9 I will make you a everlasting desolation and your cities will not be inhabited.
And you* will know that I am Jehovah.
10 Because you have said, These two nations and these two countries will be mine and we will possess it, and Jehovah was there, 11 therefore, as I live, says the lord Jehovah, I will do according to your anger and according to your envy which you have shown out of your hatred against them. And I will make myself known among them when I will judge you.
12 And you will know that I, Jehovah, have heard all your revilings which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate. They are given us to devour. 13 And you* have magnified yourselves against me with your* mouth and made your* words abundant against me. I have heard it.
14 The lord Jehovah says thus: When the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate. 15 As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be desolate, O Mount Seir and all Edom, even all of it. And they will know that I am Jehovah.

6 Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Gaza, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they carried away captive the whole people, to deliver them up to Edom. 7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza and it will devour the palaces of it. 8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod and he who holds the scepter from Ashkelon. And I will turn my hand against Ekron and the remnant of the Philistines will perish, says the lord Jehovah.
9 Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Tyre, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they delivered up the whole people to Edom and did not remember the brotherly covenant. 10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre and it will devour the palaces of it.
11 Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Edom, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because he pursued his brother with the sword and cast off all pity. 13 Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of the sons of Ammon, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they may enlarge their border. 14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah and it will devour the palaces of it, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind. 15 And their king will go into captivity, he and his rulers together, says Jehovah.

Obadiah 1:10-16

10 Shame will cover you for the violence done to your brother Jacob and you will be cut off everlasting. 11 In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance and foreigners entered into his gates and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even you were as one of them.
12 But do not look on the day of your brother in the day of his disaster and rejoice not over the sons of Judah in the day of their destruction, nor speak proudly in the day of distress. 13 Do not enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity.
Yes, do not look on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor lay you* hands on their substance in the day of their calamity. 14 And stand not in the crossway, to cut off those of his who escape and do not deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress.
15 For the day of Jehovah is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it will be done to you. Your dealing will return upon your own head. 16 For as you* have drunk upon my holy mountain, so will all the nations drink continually. Yes, they will drink and swallow down and will be as though they had not been.

Zephaniah 2:8-10

8 I have heard the reproach of Moab and the revilings of the sons of Ammon, with which they have reproached my people and magnified themselves against their border. 9 Therefore as I live, says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab will be as Sodom and the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles and salt pits and a everlasting desolation. The residue of my people will make a prey of them and the remnant of my nation will inherit them.
10 They will have this for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Jehovah of hosts.

Zephaniah 3:19-20

19 Behold, at that time I will deal with all those who afflict you. Their heart will be glad in Jehovah.
8 I will whistle for them and gather them. For I have redeemed them and they will increase as they have increased. 9 And I will sow them among the peoples and they will remember me in far countries. And they will live with their sons and will return.
10 I will also bring them again out of the land of Egypt and gather them out of Assyria. And I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon and until space will not be found for them. 11 And he will pass through the sea of affliction and will kill* the waves in the sea and all the depths of the Nile will dry up. 20 And he will snatch on the right hand and be hungry. And he will eat on the left hand and they will not be satisfied. They will eat every man the flesh of his own arm– 21 Manasseh, Ephraim and Ephraim, Manasseh and together they will be against Judah.
