²³ And Abraham took Ishmael his son and all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the same day, as God had said to him.

¹⁰ Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the sons of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,

¹⁸ to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.

¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, you* rulers of Sodom, listen to the law of our God, you* people of Gomorrah.
¹¹ What to me is the multitude of your* sacrifices? says Jehovah. I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts. And I do not delight in the blood of bullocks or of lambs or of male-goats. ¹² When you* come to appear before me, who has required this at your* hand–to trample my courts?
¹³ Bring no more vain oblations. Incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath, the calling of assemblies–I cannot bear wickedness and the solemn assembly. ¹⁴ Your* new moons and your* appointed feasts my soul hates. They are a trouble to me. I am weary of bearing them.
¹⁵ And when you* spread forth your* hands, I will hide my eyes from you*. Yes, when you* make many prayers, I will not hear; your* hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash you*, make you* clean, put away the evil of your* practices from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.

⁶ Do not give the holy thing s to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them down with their feet and having turned, they may rip at you.

²⁸ For he is not a Jew openly; nor is circumcision what is openly in the flesh, ²⁹ but he is a Jew in the hidden thing, and the circumcision is of the heart, in spirit, not in the writing; whose praise is not from men, but from God.

¹⁹ Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.
