¹ And the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them. ² And God finished his work by the seventh day which he had made and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work which God had created and made.
⁴ These are the genealogies of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven. ⁵ And no plant of the field was yet in the earth and no herb of the field had yet sprung up, because Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth. And there was not a man to work the ground, ⁶ but there went up a mist from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.
⁷ And Jehovah God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul. ⁸ And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward in Eden and he put the man whom he had formed there.
⁹ And out of the ground Jehovah God made to grow every tree that is desirable to the sight and good for food; also in the midst of the garden the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
¹⁰ And a river went out of Eden to water the garden and from there it was divided and became four chief rivers. ¹¹ The name of the first is Pishon. It is that river which encompasses the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. ¹² And the gold of that land is good; there is bdellium and the onyx stone too. ¹³ And the name of the second river is Gihon. The same is it which encompasses the whole land of Cush. ¹⁴ And the name of the third river is Hiddekel. It is that river which goes east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
¹⁵ And Jehovah God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to work it and to keep it. ¹⁶ And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden, ¹⁷ but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will not eat from it. For in the day that you eat from it, you will surely die.
¹⁸ And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make a helper for him. ¹⁹ And out of the ground Jehovah God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living creature, that was the name of it. ²⁰ And the man gave names to all the cattle and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field, but for man there was not found a helper for him.
²¹ And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man and he slept. And God took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh under it. ²² And from the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, he made a woman and brought her to the man.
²³ And the man said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She will be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. ²⁴ Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother and will cling to his wife and the two will be one flesh. ²⁵ And the man and his wife were both naked and they were not ashamed.

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

¹⁰ And God called the dry land Earth and he called the gathering together of the waters Seas. And God saw that it was good.

⁴ These are the genealogies of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven.

¹¹ for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them and rested the seventh day. Therefore Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

¹⁷ It is a sign between me and the sons of Israel everlasting. For in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.

¹⁹ And lest you lift up your eyes to heaven and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, you are drawn away and worship them and serve them, which Jehovah your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.

³ and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded,

¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah and said, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, who sits above the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

³ For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed. And he reared up altars for Baal and made an Asherah, as did Ahab King of Israel and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. ⁴ And he built altars in the house of Jehovah, of which Jehovah said, In Jerusalem I will put my name. ⁵ And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of Jehovah.

¹² Huram said moreover, Praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endued with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for Jehovah and a house for his kingdom.

⁶ You are Jehovah, even you alone, you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all things that are on it, the seas and all that is in them and you preserve them all. And the host of heaven worships you.

⁹ Who does not know in all these, that the hand of Jehovah has worked this,

⁶ The heavens made were by the word of Jehovah and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

⁹ Because he spoke and it was done. He commanded and it stood fast.

¹¹ The heavens are yours, the earth also is yours, the world and the fullness of it; you have founded them. ¹² The north and the south, you have created them. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name.
¹³ You have a mighty arm. Strong is your hand and high is your right hand.

² who covers yourself with light as with a garment, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,

⁵ to him who by understanding made the heavens, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁶ to him who spread forth the earth above the waters, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁷ to him who made great lights, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁸ the sun to rule by day, because his loving kindness is everlasting,

⁶ who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, who keeps truth everlasting,

⁴ And all the host of heaven will be dissolved and the heavens will be rolled together as a scroll. And all their host will fade away as the leaf fades from the vine and as a fading leaf from the fig tree.

²⁶ Lift up your* eyes on high and see who has created these, who brings out their host by number. He calls them all by name, by the greatness of his might. And because he is strong in power, not one is lacking.
²⁷ Why do you say, O Jacob and speak, O Israel, My way is hid from Jehovah. And the justice due to me is passed away from my God?
²⁸ Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, nor is weary. There is no searching of his understanding.

⁵ Thus says God, Jehovah, he who created the heavens and stretched them forth, he who spread abroad the earth and what comes out of it, he who gives breath to the people upon it and spirit to those who walk in it,

¹² I have made the earth and created man upon it. I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens and all their host I have commanded.

¹⁸ For Jehovah says thus who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, who established it and did not create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited: I am Jehovah and there is none else.

¹³ Yes, my hand has laid the foundation of the earth and my right hand has spread out the heavens. When I call to them, they stand up together.

⁹ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your* ways and my thoughts than your* thoughts.

¹⁷ For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth and the former things will not be remembered, nor come into mind.

² And they will spread them before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and which they have served and after which they have walked and which they have sought and which they have worshiped. They will not be gathered, nor be buried. They will be for manure upon the face of the earth.

¹² He has made the earth by his power. He has established the world by his wisdom and by his understanding he has stretched out the heavens.

¹⁶ The portion of Jacob is not like these. For he is the former of all things and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance. Jehovah of hosts is his name.

¹ The burden of the word of Jehovah concerning Israel.
Jehovah says thus, who stretches forth the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth and forms the spirit of man within him:

¹³ And suddenly, a multitude of the heavenly army praising God happened to be together with the messenger, and saying,

²⁴ Now they, having heard it, lifted up their voice to God united and said, O Lord, you are the God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things in them;

⁴² But God turned and gave them up to give-divine service to the army of heaven; just-as it has been written in the book of the prophets, ‘You did not offer slaughtered beasts and sacrifices to me for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel, did you?

³ For we who have believed are entering into that rest; just-as he has said, ‘ As I swore in my wrath, they will not be entering into my rest,’although the works have happened from the conception of the world.

³¹ And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

⁸ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. ⁹ Six days you will labor and do all your work, ¹⁰ but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Jehovah your God. You will not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your man-servant, nor your maid-servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates, ¹¹ for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them and rested the seventh day. Therefore Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

¹² Six days you will do your work and on the seventh day you will rest, that your ox and your donkey may have rest and the son of your handmaid and the traveler, may be refreshed.

¹⁴ but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Jehovah your God: you will not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maid-servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates, that your manservant and your maid-servant may rest as well as you.

¹³ If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of Jehovah honorable and will honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words:

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father is working until now, and I am working.

⁴ For he has thus spoken somewhere concerning the seventh day, ‘And God rested on the seventh day from all his works’;

²² And it happened, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. ²³ And he said to them, This is what Jehovah has spoken, Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to Jehovah. Bake what you* will bake and boil what you* will boil and all that remains over lay up for you* to be kept until the morning. ²⁴ And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses commanded and it did not become foul, neither was there any worm in it.
²⁵ And Moses said, Eat that today, because today is a Sabbath to Jehovah. Today you* will not find it in the field. ²⁶ Six days you* will gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath, there will be none in it.
²⁷ And it happened on the seventh day, that some of the people went out to gather and they found none. ²⁸ And Jehovah said to Moses, How long do you* refuse to keep my commandments and my laws? ²⁹ See, because Jehovah has given you* the Sabbath, therefore he gives you* on the sixth day the bread of two days. Abide every man in his place. Let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. ³⁰ So the people rested on the seventh day.

¹³ Speak also to the sons of Israel, saying, Truly you* will keep my Sabbaths, because it is a sign between me and you* throughout your* genealogy, that you* may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifies you*. ¹⁴ You* will keep the Sabbath therefore, because it is holy to you*. Everyone who profanes it will surely be put to death, because whoever does any work on it, that soul will be cut off from among his people. ¹⁵ Six days will work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Jehovah. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he will surely be put to death. ¹⁶ Therefore the sons of Israel will keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their genealogy, for a everlasting covenant. ¹⁷ It is a sign between me and the sons of Israel everlasting. For in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.

²¹ Six days you will work, but on the seventh day you will rest; in plowing time and in harvest you will rest.

² Six days work will be done, but on the seventh day there will be to you* a holy day, a Sabbath of solemn rest to Jehovah. Whoever does any work in it will be put to death. ³ You* will kindle no fire throughout your* habitations upon the Sabbath day.

³ Six days will work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You* will do no manner of work. It is a Sabbath to Jehovah in all your* dwellings.

² Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, When you* come into the land which I give you*, then will the land keep a Sabbath to Jehovah. ³ Six years you will sow your field and six years you will prune your vineyard and gather in the fruits of it,

¹² Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as Jehovah your God commanded you. ¹³ Six days you will labor and do all your work, ¹⁴ but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Jehovah your God: you will not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maid-servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates, that your manservant and your maid-servant may rest as well as you.

¹⁴ and made known to them your holy Sabbath and commanded them commandments and statutes and a law, by Moses your servant.

¹⁵ In those days I saw in Judah some men treading wine-presses on the Sabbath and bringing in sheaves and loading donkeys on them, as also wine, grapes and figs and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I testified against them in the day in which they sold foods.
¹⁶ There dwelt men of Tyre also in it who brought in fish and all manner of wares and sold on the Sabbath to the sons of Judah and in Jerusalem.
¹⁷ Then I contended with the ranking men of Judah and said to them, What evil thing is this that you* do and profane the Sabbath day? ¹⁸ Did not your* fathers thus and did not our God bring all this evil upon us and upon this city? Yet you* bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the Sabbath.
¹⁹ And it happened that, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut and commanded that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath. And I set some of my servants over the gates that there should be no burden brought in on the Sabbath day.
²⁰ So the merchants and sellers of all kind of wares lodged outside Jerusalem once or twice. ²¹ Then I testified against them and said to them, Why do you* lodge outside the wall? If you* do so again, I will lay hands on you*. From that time forth they came no more on the Sabbath.
²² And I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember to me, O my God, this also and spare me according to the greatness of your loving kindness.

²² The blessing of Jehovah, it makes rich and he adds no sorrow with it.

² The man who does this is fortunate and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it and keeps his hand from doing any evil.
³ Neither let the foreigner, who has joined himself to Jehovah, speak, saying, Jehovah will surely separate me from his people, nor let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
⁴ For Jehovah says thus of the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths and choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant: ⁵ To them I will give in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons and of daughters. I will give them an everlasting name, that will not be cut off.
⁶ Also the foreigners who join themselves to Jehovah, to minister to him and to love the name of Jehovah, to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it and holds fast my covenant, ⁷ even them I will bring to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted upon my altar, for my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.

¹³ If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of Jehovah honorable and will honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: ¹⁴ then you will delight yourself in Jehovah and I will make you to ride upon the high places of the earth and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. For the mouth of Jehovah has spoken it.

²¹ Jehovah says thus: Take heed to yourselves and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem. ²² Neither carry forth a burden out of your* houses on the Sabbath day, nor do you* any work. But sanctify yourselves the Sabbath day, as I commanded your* fathers. ²³ But they listened not, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear and might not receive instruction.
²⁴ And it will happen, if you* diligently listen to me, says Jehovah, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but to sanctify the Sabbath day, to do no work in it, ²⁵ then there will enter in by the gates of this city kings and rulers sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their rulers, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And this city will remain everlasting.
²⁶ And they will come from the cities of Judah and from the places all around Jerusalem and from the land of Benjamin and from the lowland and from the hill-country and from the South, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices and meal offerings and frankincense and bringing things of thanksgiving, to the house of Jehovah.
²⁷ But if you* will not listen to me to sanctify the Sabbath day and not to bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in the gates of it and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem and it will not be quenched.

¹² Moreover I also gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah who sanctifies them.

²⁷ And he said to them, The Sabbath came to be because of man and not man because of the Sabbath;

⁵⁶ Now they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the Sabbath they relaxed according to the commandment.

⁴ For he has thus spoken somewhere concerning the seventh day, ‘And God rested on the seventh day from all his works’; ⁵ and again in this one, ‘They will not be entering into my rest.’ ⁶ Therefore, since it is left for some to enter into it, and those to whom the good-news was proclaimed beforehand did not enter into it because of disobedience, ⁷ he again determines a certain day as today, saying in David, after so-much time, (just-as it has been said beforehand), ‘Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.’ ⁸ For if Joshua had given-rest to them, he would have not been speaking concerning another day after these things. ⁹ Consequently, a Sabbath-rest is left for the people of God. ¹⁰ For the one who entered into his rest has also rested from his works, just-as God did from his own.

⁴ And God saw the light, that it was good. And God divided the light from the darkness.

²⁸ And God blessed them. And God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and have power over it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

¹ This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him in the likeness of God,

¹ Now these are the genealogies of the sons of Noah, of Shem, Ham and Japheth. And the sons who were born to them after the flood.

¹⁰ These are the genealogies of Shem. Shem was a hundred years old and fathered Arpachshad two years after the flood.

¹² Now these are the genealogies of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bore to Abraham.

¹⁹ And these are the genealogies of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham fathered Isaac.

¹ Now these are the genealogies of Esau (what is Edom).

⁹ And these are the genealogies of Esau (the father of the Edomites) in Mount Seir.

¹⁶ And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their genealogy: Gershon and Kohath and Merari. And the years of the life of Levi were a hundred thirty-seven years.

³ Jehovah is a man of war. Jehovah is his name.

³⁹ And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces. And they said, Jehovah, he is God, Jehovah, he is God.

⁶ And he said, O Jehovah, the God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? And are you not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? And in your hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.

²⁸ Has the rain a father? Or who has bore the drops of dew?

³¹ Because who is God, except Jehovah? And who is a rock, besides our God,

¹⁰ Because you are great and do wondrous things. You alone are God.

¹ Lord, you have been our dwelling-place in all generations. ² Before the mountains were brought forth, or you had ever formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.

⁶ Jehovah says thus, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first and I am the last and besides me there is no God.

⁴ John to the seven congregations which are in Asia: grace to you and peace from God who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits that are in the sight of his throne;

⁸ I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

¹⁷ saying, We give-thanks to you, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who was, because you have taken your great power and reigned.

⁵ And I heard the messenger of the waters saying, You are righteous, who is and who was, the Holy One, because you judged these things;

¹¹ And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit (which has seed in it) according to their kind upon the earth. And it was so.
¹² And the earth brought out grass, herbs yielding seed according to their kind and trees bearing fruit (which has seed in it), according to their kind. And God saw that it was good.

²³ therefore Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to work the ground from where he was taken.

² And again she bore his brother, Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep and Cain worked the ground.

¹² When you till the ground, it will not again yield to you its strength. You will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.

¹⁰ who gives rain upon the earth and sends waters upon the fields,

²⁶ to cause it to rain on a land where no man is, on the wilderness, in which there is no man, ²⁷ to satisfy the waste and desolate ground and to cause the tender grass to spring forth?
²⁸ Has the rain a father? Or who has bore the drops of dew?

⁹ You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it. The river of God is full of water. You provide them grain because you have so prepared the earth. ¹⁰ You water its furrows abundantly. You settle the ridges of it. You make it soft with showers. You bless the springing of it.
¹¹ You crown the year with your goodness and your paths drop fatness.

¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the cattle and herbage for the service of man, that he may bring forth food out of the earth,

⁷ who causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth, who makes lightnings for the rain, who brings forth the wind out of his treasuries,

²² Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Are not you he, O Jehovah our God? Therefore we will wait for you, for you have made all these things.

⁴⁵ Do this that you may become sons of your Father who is in the heavens, because his sun rises upon the evil and the good and it rains upon the righteous and the unrighteous.

⁷ For the soil, which drank the rainfall, when it has come often upon her, and is bearing forth vegetation fit for those because of whom it is also cultivated, receives blessing from God.

¹⁹ You will eat bread by the sweat of your face, till you return to the ground, because out of it you were taken. For you are dust and you will return to dust.

²² All died in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, of all that was on the dry land.

²² And they fell upon their faces and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, will one man sin and will you be angry with all the congregation?

¹⁶ Let Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

¹⁹ How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!

³ (For my life is yet whole in me. And the spirit of God is in my nostrils.)

⁴ The Spirit of God has made me and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

⁶ Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I also am formed out of the clay.

³ Know that Jehovah, he is God. It is he who has made us and we are his. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

¹⁴ Because he knows our frame. He remembers that we are dust.

¹⁴ I will give thanks to you, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works and that my soul knows right well.
¹⁵ My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret, curiously worked in the lowest parts of the earth.

²⁷ The spirit of man is the lamp of Jehovah, searching all his innermost parts.

⁷ a time to tear and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,

²⁰ All go to one place. All are from the dust and all turn to dust again. ²¹ Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward and the spirit of the beast, whether it goes downward to the earth?

⁷ and the dust returns to the earth as it was and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

²² Cease you* from man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for how is he to be accounted of?

⁸ But now, O Jehovah, you are our Father. We are the clay and you our potter and we are all the work of your hand.

²² And after having said this, he infused them and says to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.

²⁵ nor is he assisted by men’s hands, as if needy of anything, he is giving to all, life and breath in all things.

²⁰ But-rather, O man, who are you who answers back against God? The molded thing will not say to the one who molded it, why did you make me so, will it?

⁴⁵ So also it has been written, ‘The first man Adam became a living soul.’The last Adam is giving-life for our spirit.

⁴⁷ The first man is out of the earth, the terrestrial; the second man, the Lord, is out of heaven.

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay vessels, in order that the excellence of the power may be from God and not from us.

¹ For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle should be torn-down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, everlasting in the heavens.

⁹ Thereafter, we have indeed had the fathers of our flesh as correctors of us, and we were revering them. Will we not much rather be made subject to the Father of spirits and we will live?

²⁴ So he drove out the man. And he placed the cherubim and the flame of a sword which turned every way at the east of the garden of Eden to guard the way of the tree of life.

¹⁶ And Cain went out from the presence of Jehovah and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the Plain of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere ( this was before Jehovah destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of Jehovah, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

¹² Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the sons of Eden that were in Telassar?

³ For Jehovah has comforted Zion. He has comforted all her waste places and has made her wilderness like Eden and her desert like the garden of Jehovah. Joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

²³ Haran and Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad, were your merchants.

¹³ You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone was your covering, the ruby, the topaz and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald and the carbuncle and gold. The workmanship of your tambourine and of your pipes was in you. In the day that you were created they were prepared.

⁸ The cedars in the garden of God could not dim it. The fir trees were not like its boughs and the plane trees were not as its branches, nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.
⁹ I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.

¹⁶ I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

¹⁸ To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the nether parts of the earth. You will lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the lord Jehovah.

³ A fire devours before them and behind them a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them and behind them a desolate wilderness. Yes and none has escaped them.

¹⁷ but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will not eat from it. For in the day that you eat from it, you will surely die.

³ but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You will not eat of it, nor will you* touch it, lest you* die.

²² And Jehovah God said, Behold, the man has become as one of Us, to know good and evil and now, lest he put forth his hand and also take of the tree of life and eat and live everlasting–

²⁵ And it will be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Jehovah our God as he has commanded us.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those who lay hold upon her. And everyone who retains her is fortunate.

³⁰ The fruit of a righteous man is a tree of life and he who is wise wins souls.

²⁵ who frustrates the signs of the liars and makes diviners mad, who turns wise men backward and makes their knowledge foolish,

¹⁰ Your wisdom and your knowledge, it has perverted you. And you have said in your heart, I am and there is none else besides me.

¹² And every tree will grow for food by the river upon the bank of it, on this side and on that side, whose leaf will not wither, nor will the fruit of it fail. It will bring forth new fruit every month, because the waters of it goes forth out of the sanctuary. And the fruit of it will be for food and the leaf of it for healing.

⁴⁸ I am the bread of life.

¹ Now concerning idol-sacrifices: we know that all have knowledge. Knowledge is arrogant, but love builds up.

⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the congregations. To the one who overcomes, I will be giving to him to eat from the Tree of Life, which is in the Paradise of God.

² in the middle of its street. And the Tree of Life was on this side and on that side of the river, producing twelve fruits, giving its fruit every month and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

¹⁴ The fortunate ones are practicing his commandments, in order that their authority will be in the Tree of Life and they may enter in by the gates into the city.

⁴ There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad, the holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.

¹ And he showed me a river of the clean water of life, bright like crystal, traveling out from the throne of God and of the Lamb,

⁷ And the sons of Cush were : Seba and Havilah and Sabtah and Raamah and Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah were : Sheba and Dedan.

²⁹ and Ophir and Havilah and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.

¹⁸ And they dwelt from Havilah to Shur which is before Egypt, as you go toward Assyria. He abode opposite all his brothers.

⁷ And Saul killed* the Amalekites, from Havilah as you go to Shur, that is before Egypt.

²⁰ and the fourth row a beryl and an onyx and a jasper. They will be enclosed in gold in their settings.

⁷ And the manna was like coriander seed and the appearance of it as the appearance of bdellium.

¹⁶ It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

¹¹ And it will happen in that day, that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, who will remain, from Assyria and from Egypt and from Pathros and from Cush and from Elam and from Shinar and from Hamath and from the islands of the sea.

¹¹ He went forth out of that land into Assyria and built Nineveh and Rehoboth-ir and Calah

²² The sons of Shem were : Elam and Asshur and Arpachshad and Lud and Aram.

¹⁸ In that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:

⁷ Turn and take your* journey and go to the hill-country of the Amorites and to all the places near to it, in the Arabah, in the hill-country and in the lowland and in the South and by the sea-shore, the land of the Canaanites and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.

²⁴ Every place on which the sole of your* foot will tread will be yours*, from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the hinder sea will be your* border.

⁴ And in the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel,

¹⁴ someone saying to the sixth messenger who has the trumpet, Loose the four messengers that have been bound upon the great river Euphrates.

² And God finished his work by the seventh day which he had made and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

⁸ And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward in Eden and he put the man whom he had formed there.

³³ if like Adam I have covered my transgressions by hiding my iniquity in my bosom

² Because you will eat the labor of your hands. You will be fortunate and it will be well with you.

²⁸ Let the one who steals, steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working at what is the good thing with his hands, in order that he may have something to give to the one who has need.

⁹ And out of the ground Jehovah God made to grow every tree that is desirable to the sight and good for food; also in the midst of the garden the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

¹ Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said to the woman, Yes, because God has said, You will not eat of any tree of the garden? ² And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden,

²² And Samuel said, Has Jehovah as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice and to listen than the fat of rams.

⁴ because every created thing of God is good and casting off nothing if it is received with thanksgiving,

¹⁷ Command the rich in this current age, not to be cavalier, nor to have hope on the uncertainty of riches, but have hope in the living God, who is richly providing to us all things toward enjoyment;

And he said to the woman, Yes, because God has said, You will not eat of any tree of the garden? ² And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, ³ but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You will not eat of it, nor will you* touch it, lest you* die.
⁴ And the serpent said to the woman, You will not surely die.

¹¹ And he said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you that you should not eat?

¹⁷ And to Adam he said, Because you have obeyed the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You will not eat of it, cursed is the ground for your sake. You will eat of it in toil all the days of your life.

⁷ Now therefore restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet and he will pray for you and you will live. And if you do not restore her, you will know that you will surely die, you and all who are yours.

⁶⁵ For Jehovah had said of them, They will surely die in the wilderness. And there was not a man of them left, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

²⁶ Cursed is every man who does not continue in all things written in the book of the law, to do them. And all the people will say, Truly.

¹⁵ See, I have set before you this day life and good and death and evil,

¹⁹ I call heaven and earth to witness against you* this day, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed,

³⁹ For, as Jehovah lives, who saves Israel, though it is in Jonathan my son, he will surely die. But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.

⁴⁴ And Saul said, God do so and more also, for you will surely die, Jonathan.

³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the ground, you will not be established, nor your kingdom. Therefore now send and fetch him to me, for he will surely die.

¹⁶ And the king said, You will surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father's house.

³⁷ For on the day you go out and pass over the brook Kidron, know for certain that you will surely die; your blood will be upon your own head.

⁴² And the king sent and called for Shimei and said to him, Did I not make you swear by Jehovah and protest to you, saying, Know for certain, that on the day you go out and walk abroad anywhere, you will surely die? And you said to me, The saying that I have heard is good.

⁸ And it happened, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that Jehovah had commanded him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying, You will surely die.

¹⁸ When I say to a wicked man, You will surely die and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked man from his wicked way, to save his life, the same wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.
¹⁹ Yet if you warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.
²⁰ Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits unrighteousness and I lay a stumbling block before him, he will die. Because you have not given him warning, he will die in his sin and his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered, but I will require his blood at your hand.

⁴ Behold, all souls are mine, as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine. The soul that sins, it will die.

¹³ has given forth upon interest and has taken increase, will he then live? He will not live. He has done all these abominations. He will surely die. His blood will be upon him.

³² For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies, says the lord Jehovah, therefore turn yourselves back and live.

⁸ When I say to the wicked man, O wicked man, you will surely die and you do not speak to warn the wicked man from his way, that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.

¹⁴ Again, when I say to the wicked man, You will surely die, if he turns from his sin and does what is lawful and right,

³² Who, having fully known the ordinance of God, (that those practicing such things are worthy of death), are not only practicing the same things, but also are consenting with those who are practicing the same things.

¹² Because of this, just-as sin entered into the world through one man and death through sin, and so death has gone forth to all men, in which all have sinned. ¹³ For Sin was in the world till the law, but sin is not charged to one’s account when there is no law. ¹⁴ But death reigned from Adam till Moses, even on those who did not sin on the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a pattern of the future one. \ulnone\nosupersub ¹⁵ But not like the trespass, so also is the gift. For if the many died by the trespass of the one, the favor of God and the gift by the favor of the one man, Jesus Christ, abounded much more to the many. ¹⁶ Now the gift is not as through one who sinned; for indeed the judgment came from one into condemnation, but the gift came from many trespasses into an act of righteousness. ¹⁷ For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more they, who are receiving the abundance of the favor and of the gift of righteousness, will be reigning in life through the one, who is Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ Therefore consequently, as through one trespass the judgment came to all men to condemnation; so through the righteousness of one man the gift also came to all men into justification of life. ¹⁹ For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were designated as sinners, so also through the obedience of the one the many will be designated as righteous. ²⁰ But the law entered in beside us, in order that the trespass might increase, but where sin increased, the favor over-abounded; ²¹ in order that, just-as sin reigned in death, so also the favor might also reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁶ Do you not know, that to whom you present yourselves as bondservants to obedience, you are the bondservants to whom you obey; either of sin to death or of obedience to righteousness?

²³ For the compensations of sin is death, but the gift of God is everlasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁰ and the commandment which was to life, it was found in me to be to death; ¹¹ for sin, having taken a starting-point through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. ¹² So-that the law indeed is holy and the commandment holy and righteous and good. ¹³ Therefore what is the good thing for me, has it become death? Let it not happen! But sin, in order that it might appear as sin, through what is the good thing for me, was working death; in order that sin might become a surpassingly-better sinner through the commandment.

² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free away from the law of sin and of death.

²² For just-as all die in Adam, so all will also be given-life in Christ.

⁵⁶ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;

¹⁰ For as many as are from the works of the law are under a curse; for it has been written, ‘Cursed is everyone who is not remaining in all things which have been written in the book of the law, and to practice them.’

¹ Even you were dead in your trespasses and sins, ² in which you previously walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit which now is working in the sons of disobedience; ³ among whom we also all conducted ourselves previously in the lusts of our flesh, practicing the wills of the flesh and of the mind and we were children of wrath by nature, even as the rest. ⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, because of his much love with which he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead through our trespasses, he made us alive together with the Christ; you are saved in his grace. ⁶ And God raised us up together with him and seated us together with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus;

¹⁴ Hence he says, Arise, you who are sleeping and rise up from the dead and the Christ will appear upon you.

¹³ And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses;

⁶ But she who is self-indulgent has died, while still living.

¹⁵ Thereafter when this lust has conceived, it bears sin, and sin, when it has matured, gives-birth to death.

¹⁶ If anyone sees his brother sinning ^{F} a sin not to death, he will ask and God will be giving him life for those who are not sinning to death. There is a sin to death. I do not say that he should ask concerning that.

¹¹ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the congregations. He who overcomes may never be hurt from the second death.

⁶ The fortunate and holy one is the one who has part in the first resurrection; the second death has no authority over these, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ and will be reigning with him a thousand years.

¹⁴ And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, which is the lake of fire.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and sinners and detestable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and to all the false witnesses, their part will be in the lake which is burning with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

¹² And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate.

¹ And Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?

²² He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from Jehovah.

⁹ Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. ¹⁰ Because if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow, but woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up. ¹¹ Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth, but how can one be warm alone? ¹² And if a man prevails against he who is alone, two will withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

³⁶ But if anyone supposes he is behaving improperly over his virgin, if she is beyond her prime and thus it ought to happen, let her do what she wills; she is not sinning; let them marry.

⁷ For a man indeed ought not to have his head veiled, being that he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of the man. ⁸ For the man is not from the woman, but the woman is from the man; ⁹ for neither was the man created because of the woman, but the woman because of the man. ¹⁰ The woman ought to have a sign of authority upon her head because of this and because of the messengers. ¹¹ However, neither is the man separate from the woman, nor the woman separate from the man, in the Lord. ¹² For just-like the woman is from the man, so the man is also through the woman, but all things are from God.

¹¹ Let a woman learn in quietness in all subjection.
¹² Now I do not permit a woman to teach, nor to dominate a man, but to be in quietness.
¹³ For Adam was first molded, thereafter Eve;

⁷ Likewise the husbands, dwell together with your wives according to the knowledge, bestowing honor to the wife, as the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.

²⁰ And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of heaven. ²¹ And God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought out abundantly, according to their kind and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. ²² And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas and let birds multiply on the earth. ²³ And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
²⁴ And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kind. And it was so.
²⁵ And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kind and the cattle according to their kind and everything that creeps upon the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
²⁶ And God said, Let Us make man in our image–after our likeness–and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the cattle, and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.

²² And from the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, he made a woman and brought her to the man.
²³ And the man said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She will be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

²⁰ Of the birds according to their kind and of the cattle according to their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground according to its kind. Two of every sort will come to you, to keep them alive.

² And the fear of you* and the dread of you* will be upon every beast of the earth and upon every bird of the heavens, with all that creeps on the ground and all the fishes of the sea. They are delivered into your* hand.

⁴ what is man that you remember him? And the son of man that you care for him? ⁵ Yet you have made him but a little lower than messengers and crowned him with glory and honor.
⁶ You make him to have dominion over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet. ⁷ All sheep and oxen, yes and the beasts of the field, ⁸ the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

¹⁸ And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make a helper for him.

¹² And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram. And behold, a horror of great darkness fell upon him.

¹² So David took the spear and the jar of water from Saul's head and they got away. And no man saw it, nor knew it, neither did any awake, for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from Jehovah was fallen upon them.

¹³ In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men,

¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumbering upon the bed.

¹⁵ Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep and the idle soul will suffer hunger.

¹⁸ Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground, but he touched me and set me upright.

¹⁹ And out of the ground Jehovah God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living creature, that was the name of it.

¹ Unless Jehovah builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless Jehovah guards the city, the watchman wake but in vain.

¹⁴ House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.

⁸ For the man is not from the woman, but the woman is from the man; ⁹ for neither was the man created because of the woman, but the woman because of the man.

¹³ For Adam was first molded, thereafter Eve;

⁴ Let marriage be honored among all and let the marriage-bed be undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will be judging.

¹⁴ And Laban said to him, Surely you are my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.

² Speak, I beseech you*, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Which is better for you*, that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are seventy men, rule over you*, or that one rule over you*? Remember also that I am your* bone and your* flesh.

¹ Then all the tribes of Israel came to David to Hebron and spoke, saying, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

¹³ And say you* to Amasa, Are you not my bone and my flesh? God do so to me and more also, if you not be captain of the army before me continually in the place of Joab.

²⁸ So the husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. ²⁹ For no one ever hated his own flesh, but is nourishing and cherishing it, just-as the Lord also does the congregation of believers; ³⁰ because we are members of his body, out of his flesh and out of his bones.

⁵⁸ And they called Rebekah and said to her, Will you go with this man?
And she said, I will go.
⁵⁹ And they sent Rebekah their sister away and her nurse and Abraham's servant and his men.

¹⁴ And Rachel and Leah answered and said to him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house? ¹⁵ Are we not accounted by him as foreigners? For he has sold us and has also devoured our money.

¹² And if a priest's daughter be married to a stranger, she will not eat of the heave offering of the holy things. ¹³ But if a priest's daughter be a widow, or divorced and have no child and is returned to her father's house, as in her youth, she will eat of her father's bread, but there will no stranger eat of it.

⁴ But you* who clung to Jehovah your* God are alive every one of you* this day.

²⁰ You will fear Jehovah your God. Him you will serve and to him you will cling and by his name you will swear.

⁸ but cling to Jehovah your* God as you* have done to this day.

¹⁰ Listen, O daughter and consider and incline your ear. Forget also your own people and your father's house.

⁴ A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, but she who makes ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

¹⁰ A worthy woman who can find? For her price is far above rubies.

¹⁴ Yet you* say, Why?
Because Jehovah has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt with treacherously, though she is your companion and the wife of your covenant. ¹⁵ And did he not make one, although he had the residue of the Spirit? And why one? He sought a godly seed.
Therefore take heed to your* spirit and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. ¹⁶ For I hate putting away, says Jehovah, the God of Israel and he who covers his garment with violence, says Jehovah of hosts. Therefore take heed to your* spirit, that you* deal not treacherously.

³ And the Pharisees came to him, testing him and saying to him, If it is legal to a man to divorce his wife according to every cause.
⁴ But he answered and said to them, Have you not read, He who made them, made them male and female from the beginning. ⁵ And said, Because of this, a man will be leaving his father and mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will be jointed into one flesh. ⁶ So-that they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has yoked together; let man not separate.
⁷ They say to him, Therefore why did Moses command us to give a document of divorcement and to dismiss her?
⁸ He says to them, Moses permitted you to divorce your wives for your hardness of heart, but from the beginning it has not become so. ⁹ But I am saying to you, Whoever divorces his wife not over

⁶ But ‘God made them male and female’from the beginning of the creation. ⁷ ‘Because of this, a man will be leaving his father and mother and will be joined to his wife; ⁸ and the two will become one flesh,’so-that they are no more two, but one flesh. ⁹ Therefore, what God has yoked together, let man not separate.
¹⁰ And in the house, his disciples asked him again concerning the same thing. ¹¹ And he says to them, Whoever divorces his wife and should marry another is committing adultery against her; ¹² and if a woman divorces her husband and should marry another, she is committing adultery.

²³ who, having come and having seen the favor of God, rejoiced and was encouraging all with purpose of heart to remain in the Lord,

² For the woman in wedlock has been bound by the law to the living husband, but if the husband dies, she has been done-away-with from the law of the husband.

¹⁶ Therefore, do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute is one body? For he says, The two will become one flesh. ¹⁷ But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.

² But, because of fornications, let each man have his own wife and let each woman have her own husband. ³ Let the husband give to the wife her owed benevolence and likewise also the wife give to the husband. ⁴ The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband, and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife.

¹⁰ But I command to those who have married, (not I, but the Lord): the wife is not to be separated from her husband, ¹¹ (but even if she is separated, let her remain unmarried, or let her be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband is not to leave his wife.

²⁸ So the husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. ²⁹ For no one ever hated his own flesh, but is nourishing and cherishing it, just-as the Lord also does the congregation of believers; ³⁰ because we are members of his body, out of his flesh and out of his bones. ³¹ Because of this, a man will be leaving his father and mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.

¹⁴ Therefore I will the younger widows to marry, to be childbearing, to manage the house, to never give a starting-point to those who lay in opposition to them because of reviling:

¹ Likewise, wives be subject to your own husbands; in order that, even if some are disobedient to the word, they might be gained without a word through the conduct of their wives; ² having eye-witnessed your pure conduct in fear; ³ whose adornment, do not let it be the outward adornment of braiding the hair, and of placing on of gold things or of clothing of expensive garments; ⁴ but let it be the hidden human things of the heart, in the incorruptible clothing of a meek and quiet spirit, which is greatly-valued in God’s sight. ⁵ For so, the holy women, those also hoping in God, were previously adorning themselves, being subject to their own husbands; ⁶ as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children you became, doing good and not fearing any terror.
⁷ Likewise the husbands, dwell together with your wives according to the knowledge, bestowing honor to the wife, as the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.

⁷ And the eyes of them were both opened and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.

¹⁰ And he said, I heard your sound in the garden and I was afraid, because I was naked. And I hid myself.
¹¹ And he said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you that you should not eat?

²⁵ And when Moses saw that the people were broken loose, (for Aaron had let them loose for a whisper among their enemies,)

³ Yes, none who wait for you will be put to shame. They will be put to shame who deal treacherously without cause.

¹⁷ Do not let me be put to shame, O Jehovah, because I have called upon you.
Let the wicked be put to shame. Let them be silent in Sheol.

⁹ Those who fashion a graven image are all of them vanity. And the things that they delight in will not profit. And their own witnesses do not see, nor know, that they may be put to shame.

³ Your nakedness will be uncovered, yes, your shame will be seen. I will take vengeance and will spare no man.

⁴ Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed. Neither be confounded, for you will not be put to shame. For you will forget the shame of your youth. And the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.

¹⁵ Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, nor could they blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. At the time that I visit them they will be cast down, says Jehovah.

¹³ O Jehovah, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who depart from me will be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Jehovah, the fountain of living waters.

⁶¹ Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed, when you will receive your sisters, your elder sisters and your younger and I will give them to you for daughters, but not by your covenant.

²⁶ And you* will eat in plenty and be satisfied. And will praise the name of Jehovah your* God, who has dealt wondrously with you*. And my people will never be put to shame.

³⁸ For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this generation, the adulteress and sinner, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him, whenever he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy messengers.

²⁶ For whoever is ashamed of me, and of my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him whenever he comes in his own glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy messengers.

¹¹ For the Scripture says, ‘Everyone who believes on him will not be ashamed.’
