¹ And afterward Moses and Aaron came and said to Pharaoh, Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.
² And Pharaoh said, Who is Jehovah, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I do not know Jehovah and moreover I will not let Israel go. ³ And they said, The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please, let us go, three days' journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to Jehovah our God, lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
⁴ And the King of Egypt said to them, Therefore do you*, Moses and Aaron, loose the people from their works? You* get to your* burdens. ⁵ And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land are now many and you* make them rest from their burdens.
⁶ And the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying, ⁷ You* will no more give the people straw to make brick as formerly. Let them go and gather straw for themselves. ⁸ And the number of the bricks, which they made formerly, you* will lay upon them. You* will not diminish any of it. For they are idle, therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God. ⁹ Let heavier work be laid upon the men, that they may labor in it and do not let them regard lying words.
¹⁰ And the taskmasters of the people went out and their officers and they spoke to the people, saying, Thus says Pharaoh, I will not give you* straw. ¹¹ Go yourselves, you* get straw where you* can find it, because none of your* work will be diminished. ¹² So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.
¹³ And the taskmasters were urgent saying, Fulfill your* works, your* daily deeds, as when there was straw. ¹⁴ And the officers of the sons of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and demanded, Why have you* not fulfilled your* task both yesterday and today, in making brick as formerly?
¹⁵ Then the officers of the sons of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, Why do you deal thus with your servants? ¹⁶ There is no straw given to your servants and they say to us, Make brick. And behold, your servants are beaten, but the fault it in your own people.
¹⁷ But he said, You* are idle, you* are idle. Therefore you* say, Let us go and sacrifice to Jehovah. ¹⁸ Go therefore now and work, and no straw will be given you*, yet you* will deliver the number of bricks. ¹⁹ And the officers of the sons of Israel saw that they were in affliction, when it was said, You* will not diminish anything from your* bricks, your* daily tasks.
²⁰ And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came out from Pharaoh, ²¹ and they said to them, Jehovah look upon you* and judge, because you* have made our fragrance to be stink in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill* us.
²² And Moses returned to Jehovah and said, Lord, why have you dealt ill with this people? Why is it that you have sent me? ²³ For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has dealt ill with this people, neither have you delivered your people at all.

¹⁸ And they will listen to your voice. And you will come, you and the elders of Israel, to the King of Egypt and you* will say to him, Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. And now please let us go, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Jehovah our God.

⁹ And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go, because we must hold a feast to Jehovah.

²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found you because you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the sight of Jehovah.

⁴⁶ I also will speak of your testimonies before kings and will not be put to shame.

⁶ And in this mountain Jehovah of hosts will make to all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the dregs, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the dregs well refined.

⁶ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.

³ So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, of three days' journey. ⁴ And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey. And he cried out and said, Yet forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown.

¹⁸ and you will also be led in front of governors and kings because of me, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

²⁸ And do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

²⁹ And hereafter, Lord, look upon their threats and give to your bondservants to speak your word with all boldness,

⁸ So-then we should celebrate a festival, not in old leaven, nor in the leaven of malice and wickedness, but in the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

¹⁹ And I know that the King of Egypt will not give you* leave to go, no, not by a mighty hand.

¹² Now the sons of Eli were worthless men; they did not know Jehovah.

³⁵ Who are they among all the gods of the countries that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

¹⁵ Now therefore do not let Hezekiah deceive you*, nor persuade you* after this manner, neither believe him. For no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your* God deliver you* out of my hand?

¹⁹ And they spoke of the God of Jerusalem, as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men's hands.

¹⁵ What is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we pray to him?

⁴ The wicked man, in the pride of his countenance, says, He will not require it. All his thoughts are, There is no God.

⁴ who have said, We prevail with our tongue will. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?

¹ The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt. They have done abominable works. There is none that does good.

¹⁶ As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of Jehovah, we will not listen to you.
¹⁷ But we will certainly perform every word that has gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our rulers, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food and were well and saw no evil.

³ And they will be doing these things to you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

²⁸ And just-as they did not approve to have God in their full knowledge, God gave them up to an unapproved mind, to do those things which are not proper.

⁸ giving vengeance in a fire of flame to those who do not know God and to those who are not obeying the good-news of our Lord Jesus Christ,

²¹ Jehovah will make the pestilence cling to you, until he has consumed you from the land, where you go in to possess it.

²⁵ And so it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they were not afraid of Jehovah. Therefore Jehovah sent lions among them, which killed some of them.

⁸ Now be you* not stiff-necked, as your* fathers were, but yield yourselves to Jehovah and enter into his sanctuary, which he has made holy everlasting and serve Jehovah your* God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you*.

²³ Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

¹¹ The lord Jehovah says thus: Strike with your hand and stamp with your foot and say, Alas! because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel, for they will fall by the sword, by the famine and by the pestilence.

¹⁶ And it will happen, that everyone who is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts and to keep the feast of tabernacles. ¹⁷ And it will be, that of the families of the earth he who does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts, upon them there will be no rain.
¹⁸ And if the family of Egypt does not go up and does not come, that there will be the plague with which Jehovah will kill* the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles. ¹⁹ This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

¹¹ Therefore they set forced-labor managers over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built store-cities for Pharaoh which were Pithom and Raameses.

⁴ Then the rulers said to the king, Please let this man be put to death, inasmuch as he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them. For this man seeks not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

¹⁰ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam King of Israel, saying, Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

² Now they began to accuse him, saying, We found this one perverting the nation and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.

²⁰ Having led them to the magistrates, they said, These men, being Jews, are disturbing our city, ²¹ and are proclaiming customs which it is not legal for us to accept, or to do, being Romans.

⁵ For we have found this man a plague, and he is moving this dissension to all the Jews throughout the inhabited-earth. And he is a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes;

⁷ And the sons of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly and multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty and the land was filled with them.
⁸ Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. ⁹ And he said to his people, Behold, the people of the sons of Israel are more and mightier than we. ¹⁰ Come, let us deal craftily with them, lest they multiply and it happen, that, when war happens, they also join themselves to our enemies and fight against us and get them up out of the land.
¹¹ Therefore they set forced-labor managers over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built store-cities for Pharaoh which were Pithom and Raameses.

²⁸ The king's glory is in the multitude of people, but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

⁷ And Jehovah said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, because I know their sorrows.

¹⁰ And the taskmasters of the people went out and their officers and they spoke to the people, saying, Thus says Pharaoh, I will not give you* straw.

¹³ And the taskmasters were urgent saying, Fulfill your* works, your* daily deeds, as when there was straw. ¹⁴ And the officers of the sons of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and demanded, Why have you* not fulfilled your* task both yesterday and today, in making brick as formerly?
¹⁵ Then the officers of the sons of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, Why do you deal thus with your servants?

¹⁹ And the officers of the sons of Israel saw that they were in affliction, when it was said, You* will not diminish anything from your* bricks, your* daily tasks.

¹⁶ And Jehovah said to Moses, Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them. And bring them to the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with you.

¹⁵ So I took the heads of your* tribes, wise men and known and made them heads over you*, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds and captains of fifties and captains of tens and officers, according to your* tribes.

¹⁸ You will make judges and officers for you in all your gates, which Jehovah your God gives you, according to your tribes and they will judge the people with righteous judgment.

³³ And all Israel and their elders and officers and their judges, stood on this side of the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, as well the traveler as the home born, half of them in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of Jehovah had commanded at the first, that they should bless the people of Israel.

¹ And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel and for their heads and for their judges and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

⁴ And I gave to Isaac, Jacob and Esau. And I gave to Esau Mount Seir to possess it. And Jacob and his sons went down into Egypt.

¹¹ Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.

¹⁰ A righteous man regards the life of his beast, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

²⁵ Moreover, she said to him, We both have enough straw and fodder and room to lodge in.

¹⁹ Yet there is both straw and fodder for our donkeys and there is bread and wine also for me and for your handmaid and for the young man who is with your servants. There is no want of anything.

⁴¹ And he gave them into the hand of the nations. And those who hated them, ruled over them.

²⁰ You say (but they are but vain words), There is counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom do you trust that you have rebelled against me?

³ Shall vain words have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer?

² then Azariah the son of Hoshaiah and Johanan the son of Kareah and all the proud men, spoke, saying to Jeremiah, You speak falsely. Jehovah our God has not sent you to say, You* will not go into Egypt to journey there.

⁶ But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your* fathers? And they turned and said, Like as Jehovah of hosts thought to do to us, according to our ways and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.

¹⁴ You* have said, It is vain to serve God and what profit is it that we have kept his charge and that we have walked mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?

⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words; for because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience.

¹² If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.

¹³ And the taskmasters were urgent saying, Fulfill your* works, your* daily deeds, as when there was straw. ¹⁴ And the officers of the sons of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and demanded, Why have you* not fulfilled your* task both yesterday and today, in making brick as formerly?

⁷ And in the greatness of your excellency you overthrow those who rise up against you. You send forth your wrath, it consumes them as stubble.

²⁴ Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble and as the dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness and their blossom will go up as dust, because they have rejected the law of Jehovah of hosts and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁴ Behold, they will be as stubble. The fire will burn them. They will not deliver themselves from the power of the flame. It will not be a coal to warm at, nor a fire to sit before.

⁵ They leap like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

¹⁸ And the house of Jacob will be a fire and the house of Joseph a flame and the house of Esau for stubble. And they will burn among them and devour them and there will not be any remaining to the house of Esau, for Jehovah has spoken it.

¹⁰ For entangled like thorns and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly as dry stubble.

¹² But if anyone is building on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, grass, straw,

²⁴ Therefore the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, says thus O my people who dwell in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrian, though he slays you with the rod and lifts up his staff against you, according to the manner of Egypt.

⁸ And the number of the bricks, which they made formerly, you* will lay upon them. You* will not diminish any of it. For they are idle, therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

⁸ But when his disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

²⁷ Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will be giving to you; for God, the Father, has sealed this one.

¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we were commanding you this, If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat. ¹¹ For we hear there are some who are walking disorderly among you, working at nothing, but are busybodies.

¹⁸ As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother and did what is not good among his people, behold, he will die in his iniquity.

⁹ But if you* do not make known to me the dream, there is but one law for you*, for you* have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me till the time is changed. Therefore tell me the dream and I will know that you* can show me the interpretation of it.
¹⁰ The Chaldeans answered before the king and said, There is not a man upon the earth who can show the king's matter. Inasmuch as no king, lord, or ruler, has asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean. ¹¹ And it is a rare thing that the king requires and there is no other who can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
¹² For this reason the king was angry and very angry and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. ¹³ So the decree went forth and the wise men were to be slain. And they sought Daniel and his companions to be slain.

³⁶ For Jehovah will judge his people and regrets for his servants, when he sees that their power has gone and there is none remaining, shut up or left at large.

¹ Then I returned and saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of such as were oppressed and they had no comforter. And on the side of their oppressors there was power, but they had no comforter.

⁸ If you see the oppression of a poor man and the violent robbery of justice and righteousness in a province, marvel not at the matter. Because a man higher than the high is observing and there are higher men than they.

⁵ And Sarai said to Abram, My wrong be upon you. I gave my handmaid into your bosom and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes. Jehovah judge between me and you.

³⁰ And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, You* have troubled me, to make me stink to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites. And I being few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and kill* me and I will be destroyed, I and my house.

³¹ And the people believed. And when they heard that Jehovah had visited the sons of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.

⁹ And Moses spoke so to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses for anguish of spirit and for cruel bondage.

¹¹ And they said to Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt thus with us, to bring us forth out of Egypt?

⁴ And all Israel heard say that Saul had struck the garrison of the Philistines and also that Israel was had in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were gathered together after Saul to Gilgal.

¹² And Achish believed David, saying, He has made his people Israel utterly to abhor him. Therefore he will be my servant everlasting.

⁶ And when the sons of Ammon saw that they stunk to David, the sons of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen and the king of Maacah with a thousand men and the men of Tob twelve thousand men.

⁶ And when the sons of Ammon saw that they had made themselves stink to David, Hanun and the sons of Ammon sent a thousand talants of silver to hire for them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Aram-maacah and out of Zobah.

¹ Dead flies cause the oil of the perfumer to send forth an evil odor, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.

²⁰ But I will remove the northern army far off from you* and will drive it into a land barren and desolate, its forepart into the eastern sea and its rear part into the western sea. And its stench will come up and its foul odor will come up, because it has done great things.

¹⁵ Because we are a sweet-fragrance of Christ to God, in those who are saved and in those who are perishing; ¹⁶ to the one an aroma from death to death, but to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is sufficient in these things?

⁴ And Moses cried to Jehovah, saying, What shall I do to this people? They are almost ready to stone me.

¹¹ And Moses said to Jehovah, Why have you dealt ill with your servant? And why have I not found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people upon me?

¹⁴ I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. ¹⁵ And if you deal thus with me, I beseech you, kill me out of hand, if I have found favor in your sight and do not let me see my wretchedness.

⁶ And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters. But David strengthened himself in Jehovah his God.

⁴ But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a juniper tree. And he requested for himself that he might die and said, It is enough, now, O Jehovah, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.

¹⁰ And he said, I have been very jealous for Jehovah, the God of hosts. For the sons of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars and slain your prophets with the sword. And I, even I only, am left and they seek my life, to take it away.

²⁵ Whom have I in heaven? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides you.

¹ You are righteous, O Jehovah, when I contend with you. Yet I would reason the case with you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those at ease who deal very treacherously?

⁷ O Jehovah, you have persuaded me and I was persuaded. You are stronger than I and have prevailed. I have become a laughing-stock all the day; everyone mocks me.

³ For the vision is yet for the appointed time and it breathes-out toward the end and will not lie. Though it abide, wait for it, because it will surely come. It will not delay.

²⁶ He who comes in the name of Jehovah is blessed. We have blessed you* out of the house of Jehovah.

¹⁷ As a woman with child, who draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain and cries out in her pangs, so we have been before you, O Jehovah. ¹⁸ We have been with child. We have been in pain. We have as it were brought out wind. We have not worked any deliverance in the earth, nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner- stone, a sure foundation. He who believes in him will never be shamed.

²¹ Therefore Jehovah says thus concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, saying, You will not prophesy in the name of Jehovah, that you not die by our hand.

⁴³ I have come in the name of my Father, and you are not receiving me. If another comes in his own name, you will be receiving that man.

³⁶ For you have need of endurance, in order that, having done the will of God, you may get the promise for yourselves. ³⁷ ‘For still a little while, O how-much? O how-much? He who is coming will be coming and will not delay.
