¹⁴ And he said to the elders, Abide here for us, until we come again to you*. And behold, Aaron and Hur are with you*; whoever has a case, let him come near to them.

⁵ And Abraham said to his young men, You* abide here with the donkey and I and the lad will go over there and we will worship and come back again to you*.

¹⁰ So Joshua did as Moses had said to him and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

¹² But Moses' hands were heavy. And they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side and the other on the other side. And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

²⁵ And Moses chose able men out of all Israel and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties and rulers of tens, ²⁶ and they judged the people at all seasons. The hard cases they brought to Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, Up, make gods for us, which will go before us. For as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

⁸ And you will go down before me to Gilgal. And behold, I will come down to you, to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings. You will abide seven days till I come to you and show you what you will do.

⁸ And he stayed seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed, but Samuel did not come to Gilgal and the people were scattered from him. ⁹ And Saul said, Bring here the burnt offering to me and the peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
¹⁰ And it happened that, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.
¹¹ And Samuel said, What have you done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me and that you did not come within the days appointed and that the Philistines assembled themselves together at Michmash, ¹² therefore I said, Now the Philistines will come down upon me to Gilgal and I have not entreated the favor of Jehovah. I forced myself therefore and offered the burnt offering.
¹³ And Samuel said to Saul, You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of Jehovah your God, which he commanded you. For now Jehovah would have established your kingdom upon Israel until everlasting,
