⁷ For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God and also all the dedicated things of the house of Jehovah they bestowed upon the Baals.

¹⁵ But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked. You have grown fat. You have grown thick. You have become sleek. Then he forsook God who made him and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. ¹⁶ They moved him to jealousy with strange gods. With abominations they provoked him to anger.
¹⁷ They sacrificed to demons, not God, to gods that they did not know, to new gods that came up of late, which your* fathers did not dread.

⁴ And Joash said to the priests, All the money of the holy things that is brought into the house of Jehovah, in current money, the money of the persons for whom each man is rated and all the money that it comes into any man's heart to bring into the house of Jehovah,

¹⁷ And they came up against Judah and broke into it and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house and his sons also and his wives, so that there has not been left a son to him, except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

²² And in the time of his distress he trespassed yet more against Jehovah, this same king Ahaz. ²³ For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, which killed* him. And he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, therefore I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.
²⁴ And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God and shut up the doors of the house of Jehovah. And he made altars for him in every corner of Jerusalem.

⁶ And Esther said, An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.

⁷ The memory of a righteous man is praised, but the name of the wicked will rot.

¹⁷ You also took your fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given you and made for you images of men and played the prostitute with them. ¹⁸ And you took your embroidered garments and covered them and set my oil and my incense before them. ¹⁹ My bread also which I gave you, fine flour and oil and honey, with which I fed you, you even set it before them for a sweet aroma and thus it was, says the lord Jehovah.

² Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem, that the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, might drink from there.
³ Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem. And the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, drank from them. ⁴ They drank wine and praised the gods of gold and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood and of stone.

²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor know. And the God in whose hand your breath is and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified.

⁸ For she did not know that I gave her the grain and the new wine and the oil and multiplied to her silver and gold, which they used for Baal. ⁹ Therefore I will take back my grain in the time of it and my new wine in the season of it and will pluck away my wool and my flax which should have covered her nakedness.

¹³ And I will visit upon her the days of the Baals, to which she burned incense when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels and went after her lovers and forgot me, says Jehovah.

⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will be consuming with the breath of his mouth and will be doing-away-with him by the appearing of his presence;

²⁰ But I have this against you, that you are allowing your woman Jezebel, she who calls herself a prophetess, and she who is teaching and misleading my bondservants to fornicate and to eat idol-sacrifices.
