6 And the king called for Jehoiada the chief and said to him, Why have you not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the tax of Moses the servant of Jehovah and of the assembly of Israel, for the tent of the testimony?

Exodus 30:12-16

12 When you take the sum of the sons of Israel, according to those who are numbered of them, then they will give every man a ransom for his soul to Jehovah when you number them, that there is no plague among them when you number them. 13 This they will give, everyone who passes over to those who are numbered: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary, (the shekel is twenty gerahs,) half a shekel for an offering to Jehovah. 14 Everyone who passes over to those who are numbered, from twenty years old and upward, will give the offering of Jehovah. 15 The rich will not give more and the poor will not give less, than the half shekel, when they give the offering of Jehovah, to make atonement for your* souls. 16 And you will take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and will appoint it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may be a memorial for the sons of Israel before Jehovah, to make atonement for your* souls.

Numbers 1:50

50 but appoint you the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony and over all the furniture of it and over all that belongs to it. They will bear the tabernacle and all the furniture of it and they will minister to it and will encamp all around the tabernacle.

Numbers 17:7-8

7 And Moses laid up the rods before Jehovah in the tent of the testimony.
8 And it happened on the morrow, that Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded and put forth buds and produced blossoms and bore ripe almonds.

2 And your brothers also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring near with you, that they may be joined to you and minister to you, but you and your sons with you will be before the tent of the testimony.
