¹ And it happened, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.

¹⁹ Then the Ziphites came up to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the forest, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of the desert?

²⁸ So Saul returned from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines. Therefore they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth. ²⁹ And David went up from there and dwelt in the strongholds of En-gedi.

⁵ Take away the wicked from before the king and his throne will be established in righteousness.

¹² If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.

⁹ Slanderers have been in you to shed blood and in you they have eaten upon the mountains. In the midst of you they have committed lewdness.

³ They make the king glad with their wickedness and the rulers with their lies.
