¹ And Samuel said to Saul, Jehovah sent me to anoint you to be king over his people, over Israel. Now therefore listen you to the voice of the words of Jehovah. ² Jehovah of hosts says thus, I have remembered what Amalek did to Israel, how he set himself against him in the way when he came up out of Egypt.
³ Now go and kill* Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have and spare them not, but kill both man and woman, infant and nursing-baby, ox and sheep, camel and donkey. ⁴ And Saul summoned the people and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen and ten thousand men of Judah.
⁵ And Saul came to the city of Amalek and laid wait in the valley. ⁶ And Saul said to the Kenites, Go, depart, you* get down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you* with them, for you* showed kindness to all the sons of Israel when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
⁷ And Saul killed* the Amalekites, from Havilah as you go to Shur, that is before Egypt. ⁸ And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. ⁹ But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep and of the oxen and of the seconds and the lambs and all that was good and would not utterly destroy them. But everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
¹⁰ Then the word of Jehovah came to Samuel, saying, ¹¹ I regret that I have set up Saul to be king, for he has turned back from following me and has not performed my commandments. And Samuel was angry and he cried out to Jehovah all night. ¹² And Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning and it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and behold, he set up for him a monument and turned and passed on and went down to Gilgal.
¹³ And Samuel came to Saul. And Saul said to him, You are blessed of Jehovah. I have performed the commandment of Jehovah. ¹⁴ And Samuel said, What then means this voice of the sheep in my ears and the voice of the oxen which I hear?
¹⁵ And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites, for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen to sacrifice to Jehovah your God and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
¹⁶ Then Samuel said to Saul, Stop and I will tell you what Jehovah has said to me this night. And he said to him, Say on.
¹⁷ And Samuel said, Though you were little in your own sight, were you not made the head of the tribes of Israel? And Jehovah anointed you king over Israel. ¹⁸ And Jehovah sent you on a journey and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites and fight against them until they are consumed.
¹⁹ Why then did you not obey the voice of Jehovah, but did fly upon the spoil and did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah?
²⁰ And Saul said to Samuel, Yes, I have obeyed the voice of Jehovah and have gone the way which Jehovah sent me and have brought Agag the king of Amalek and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. ²¹ But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the devoted things, to sacrifice to Jehovah your God in Gilgal.
²² And Samuel said, Has Jehovah as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice and to listen than the fat of rams. ²³ For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as idolatry and household-idol. Because you have rejected the word of Jehovah, he has also rejected you from being king.
²⁴ And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of Jehovah and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. ²⁵ Now therefore, I beseech you, pardon my sin and turn again with me that I may worship Jehovah. ²⁶ And Samuel said to Saul, I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of Jehovah and Jehovah has rejected you from being king over Israel.
²⁷ And as Samuel turned about to go away, Saul laid hold upon the skirt of his robe and it tore. ²⁸ And Samuel said to him, Jehovah has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day and has given it to a neighbor of your, who is better than you. ²⁹ And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent, for he is not a man that he should repent.
³⁰ Then he said, I have sinned. I beseech you, yet honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah your God.
³¹ So Samuel turned again after Saul and Saul worshiped Jehovah. ³² Then Samuel said, Bring here to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came to him cheerfully. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
³³ And Samuel said, As your sword has made women childless, so will your mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before Jehovah in Gilgal.
³⁴ Then Samuel went to Ramah and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul. ³⁵ And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death, for Samuel mourned for Saul and Jehovah regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

¹⁶ Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin and you will anoint him to be prince over my people Israel. And he will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines, for I have looked upon my people, because their cry has come to me.

¹ Then Samuel took the vial of oil and poured it upon his head and kissed him and said, Is it not that Jehovah has anointed you to be prince over his inheritance?

¹⁴ If you* will fear Jehovah and serve him and listen to his voice and not rebel against the commandment of Jehovah, then both you* and also the king who reigns over you* will be followers of Jehovah your* God.

¹³ And Samuel said to Saul, You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of Jehovah your God, which he commanded you. For now Jehovah would have established your kingdom upon Israel until everlasting,

¹⁶ Then Samuel said to Saul, Stop and I will tell you what Jehovah has said to me this night. And he said to him, Say on.
¹⁷ And Samuel said, Though you were little in your own sight, were you not made the head of the tribes of Israel? And Jehovah anointed you king over Israel. ¹⁸ And Jehovah sent you on a journey and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites and fight against them until they are consumed.

² The Spirit of Jehovah spoke by me and his word was upon my tongue. ³ The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me. He who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,

¹² Only Jehovah give you discretion and understanding and give you charge concerning Israel, so that you may keep the law of Jehovah your God. ¹³ Then you will prosper, if you observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel. Be strong and of good courage. Do not fear, neither be dismayed.

¹⁰ Now therefore be wise, O you* kings. Be instructed, you* judges of the earth. ¹¹ Serve Jehovah with fear and rejoice with trembling.

⁸ Then Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim. ⁹ And Moses said to Joshua, Choose us out men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand. ¹⁰ So Joshua did as Moses had said to him and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
¹¹ And it happened, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. ¹² But Moses' hands were heavy. And they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side and the other on the other side. And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. ¹³ And Joshua weakened Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
¹⁴ And Jehovah said to Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. ¹⁵ And Moses built an altar and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi. ¹⁶ And he said, Jehovah has sworn, Jehovah will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

²⁰ And he looked on Amalek and took up his oracle and said, Amalek was the first of the nations, but his latter end will come to destruction.

¹⁷ Remember what Amalek did to you by the way as you* came forth out of Egypt, ¹⁸ how he met you by the way and killed* the hindmost of you, all who were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary and he did not fear God. ¹⁹ Therefore it will be, when Jehovah your God has given you rest from all your enemies all around, in the land which Jehovah your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you will blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. You will not forget.

³⁴ And they will teach no more every man his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah, for they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says Jehovah. For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more.

² And they do not consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own practices have surrounded them; they are before my face.

⁷ Jehovah has sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.

¹⁷ And to Adam he said, Because you have obeyed the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You will not eat of it, cursed is the ground for your sake. You will eat of it in toil all the days of your life.
¹⁸ Also, it will bring forth thorns and thistles to you and you will eat the herb of the field.

⁵ You will not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them, because I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me,

²⁸ Notwithstanding, nothing set apart, that a man will set apart to Jehovah of all that he has, whether of man or beast, or of the field of his possession, will be sold or redeemed; everything set apart is most holy to Jehovah. ²⁹ No one set apart, who will be set apart from among men, will be ransomed; he will surely be put to death.

¹⁷ Now therefore kill every male among the little ones and kill every woman that has known man by lying with him.

¹⁵ you will surely kill* the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly and all that is in it and the cattle in it, with the edge of the sword. ¹⁶ And you will gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street of it and will burn the city with fire and all the spoil of it, every whit, to Jehovah your God and it will be a heap everlasting. It will not be built again.

¹⁶ But of the cities of these peoples, that Jehovah your God gives you for an inheritance, you will save alive nothing that breathes, ¹⁷ but you will utterly destroy them–the Hittite and the Amorite, the Canaanite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite–as Jehovah your God has commanded you, ¹⁸ that they not teach you* to do after all their abominations, which they have done to their gods, so you* would sin against Jehovah your* God.

¹⁷ And the city will be set apart, even it and all that is in it, to Jehovah. Only Rahab the prostitute will live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
¹⁸ But as for you*, only keep yourselves from what is set apart, lest when you* have set it apart, you* take from what is set apart. So you* would make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it. ¹⁹ But all the silver and gold and vessels of brass and iron, are holy to Jehovah. They will come into the treasury of Jehovah.
²⁰ So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him and they took the city. ²¹ And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old and ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

¹⁹ And Nob, the city of the priests, he killed* with the edge of the sword, both men and women, sons and nursing-babes and oxen and donkeys and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

²¹ Prepare you* slaughter for his sons for the iniquity of their fathers, that they not rise up and possess the earth and fill the face of the world with cities. ²² And I will rise up against them, says Jehovah of hosts and cut off from Babylon name and remnant and son and son's son, says Jehovah.

²⁰ For the creation was subjected to futility, not voluntarily, but because of the one who subjected it, in hope ²¹ that even the creation itself will be made free away from the bondage of corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. ²² For we know that all creation groans and travails together in pain till now.

²⁴ Ziph and Telem and Bealoth,

⁸ And he numbered them in Bezek and the sons of Israel were three hundred thousand and the men of Judah thirty thousand.

¹⁵ And Samuel arose and got up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people who were present with him, about six hundred men.

²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing, to kill a righteous man with a wicked man, that so the righteous man should be as the wicked man. Far be it from you. Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

¹² And the men said to Lot, Have you any here in Sodom besides those in the house? Take your son-in-law and your sons and your daughters and whomever you have in the city and bring them out of the place. ¹³ For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them has been great before Jehovah. And Jehovah has sent us to destroy it.
¹⁴ And Lot went out and spoke to his sons in-law, who married his daughters and said, Up, you* get out of this place, because Jehovah will destroy the city. But he seemed as a man jesting, to his sons-in-law.
¹⁵ And when the morning arose, then the messengers hurried Lot, saying, Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are found here, lest you are consumed in the iniquity of the city. ¹⁶ But he lingered. And the men laid hold upon his hand and upon the hand of his wife and upon the hand of his two daughters, because Jehovah was being merciful to him and they brought him forth and set him outside the city.

⁹ And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which Jehovah had done to Israel, in that he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians. ¹⁰ And Jethro said, Praise Jehovah, who has delivered you* out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

¹⁹ Listen now to my voice. I will give you counsel and God be with you. You be a leader for the people toward God and bring you the cases to God.

²⁹ And Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, We are journeying to the place of which Jehovah said, I will give it to you*. You come with us and we will do you good, for Jehovah has spoken good concerning Israel. ³⁰ And he said to him, I will not go, but I will depart to my own land and to my kindred. ³¹ And he said, I beseech you, do not leave us, inasmuch as you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness and you will be to us instead of eyes. ³² And it will be, if you go with us, yes, it will be, that whatever good Jehovah will do to us, the same we will do to you.

²⁶ And he spoke to the congregation, saying, Depart, I beseech you*, from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs, lest you* are consumed in all their sins. ²⁷ So they got up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram, on every side. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents and their wives and their sons and their little ones.

³⁴ And all Israel that were all around them fled at the cry of them, for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.

²¹ And he looked on the Kenite and took up his oracle and said, Strong is your dwelling-place and your nest is set in the rock. ²² Nevertheless Kain will be wasted, until Asshur will carry you away captive.

¹⁶ And the sons of the Kenite, Moses' brother-in-law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the sons of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the south of Arad and they went and dwelt with the people.

¹¹ Now Heber the Kenite had separated himself from the Kenites, from the sons of Hobab the brother-in-law of Moses and had pitched his tent as far as the oak in Zaanannim, which is by Kedesh.

²⁴ Blessed above women will Jael be, the wife of Heber the Kenite. Blessed will she be above women in the tent.

¹⁰ And Achish said, Against whom have you* made a raid today? And David said, Against the South of Judah and against the South of the Jerahmeelites and against the South of the Kenites.

⁵⁵ And the families of scribes who dwelt at Jabez: the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, the Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came of Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.

⁶ Forsake you* simpleness and live and advance in the way of understanding.

⁴⁰ Now he was thoroughly testifying and encouraging them with many other words, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.

¹⁷ Hence ‘Come out from the midst of them and be separate,’says the Lord, ‘And touch no unclean thing, and I will accept you\super\'b0

¹⁶ May the Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and is not ashamed of my chain;

¹⁴ And the autumn-fruits of lust of your soul have gone away from you and all things which were luxurious and bright have perished from you and you may never find them anymore.

¹¹ The name of the first is Pishon. It is that river which encompasses the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.

⁷ And the messenger of Jehovah found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.

¹⁸ And they dwelt from Havilah to Shur which is before Egypt, as you go toward Assyria. He abode opposite all his brothers.

²² And Moses led Israel onward from the Red Sea and they went out into the wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water.

⁴⁸ And he did valiantly and killed* the Amalekites and delivered Israel out of the hands of those who despoiled them.

⁸ And David and his men went up and made a raid upon the Geshurites and the Girzites and the Amalekites, for those nations were the inhabitants of the land, who were of old as you go to Shur, even to the land of Egypt.

³⁰ that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity? That they are led forth to the day of wrath?

¹³ But it will not be well with a wicked man, neither will he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he did not fear before God.

⁷ Water will flow from his buckets and his seed will be in many waters and his king will be higher than Agag and his kingdom will be exalted.

³⁹ And he took it and the king of it and all the cities of it. And they killed* them with the edge of the sword and utterly destroyed all the souls that were in it. He left none remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir and to the king of it, as he had done also to Libnah and to the king of it.

¹² And all the cities of those kings and all the kings of them, Joshua took and he killed* them with the edge of the sword and utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded.

³ Now go and kill* Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have and spare them not, but kill both man and woman, infant and nursing-baby, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.

⁸ And David and his men went up and made a raid upon the Geshurites and the Girzites and the Amalekites, for those nations were the inhabitants of the land, who were of old as you go to Shur, even to the land of Egypt.
⁹ And David killed* the land and saved neither man nor woman alive and took away the sheep and the oxen and the donkeys and the camels and the apparel and he returned and came to Achish.

¹ And it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had made a raid upon the South and upon Ziklag and had struck Ziklag and burned it with fire,

³⁰ But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city and the wall fell upon twenty-seven thousand men who were left. And Ben-hadad fled and came into the city, into an inner chamber.

³⁴ And Ben-hadad said to him, The cities which my father took from your father I will restore and you will make streets for you in Damascus as my father made in Samaria. And I, said Ahab, will let you go with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him and let him go.
³⁵ And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said by the word of Jehovah to his fellow, Strike me, I beseech you. And the man refused to kill* him. ³⁶ Then said he to him, Because you have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah, behold, as soon as you have departed from me, a lion will kill you. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him and killed him.
³⁷ Then he found another man and said, Strike me, I beseech you. And the man killed* him, slaying and wounding him. ³⁸ So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.
³⁹ And as the king passed by, he cried out to the king and he said, Your servant went out into the midst of the battle, and behold, a man turned aside and brought a man to me and said, Keep this man. If by any means he is missing, then will your life be for his life, or else you will pay a talant of silver. ⁴⁰ And as your servant was busy here and there, he had gone. And the King of Israel said to him, So will your judgment be, yourself have decided it.
⁴¹ And he hastened and took the headband away from his eyes and the King of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets. ⁴² And he said to him, Jehovah says thus, Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will go for his life and your people for his people.

¹ After these things king Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite and advanced him and set his seat above all the rulers that were with him.

²¹ When I saw among the spoil a pleasant Babylonian mantle and two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I desired them and took them. And behold, they are hid in the ground in the midst of my tent and the silver under it.

¹⁵ And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites, for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen to sacrifice to Jehovah your God and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

¹⁹ Why then did you not obey the voice of Jehovah, but did fly upon the spoil and did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah?

¹³ And it was so, that, when those who bore the ark of Jehovah had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatten sheep.

⁶ And Jehovah regretted that he had made man on the earth and it grieved him in his heart.

¹⁶ Thus says the whole congregation of Jehovah, What trespass is this that you* have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following Jehovah, in that you* have built for you* an altar, to rebel this day against Jehovah?

²³ Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Jehovah in ceasing to pray for you*. But I will instruct you* in the good and the right way.

⁹ But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep and of the oxen and of the seconds and the lambs and all that was good and would not utterly destroy them. But everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

³⁵ And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death, for Samuel mourned for Saul and Jehovah regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

¹⁶ And when the messenger stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah relented of the evil and said to the messenger who destroyed the people, It is enough. Now stay your hand. And the messenger of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

⁶ But if you* will turn away from following me, you* or your* sons and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you*, but will go and serve other gods and worship them, ⁷ then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them. And this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight. And Israel will be a proverb and a parable among all peoples.

³ The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

⁴¹ And they turned again and challenged God and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

⁵⁷ but turned back and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

⁴ They are my adversaries instead of my love, but I make prayer.

⁴ Jehovah has sworn and will not repent. You are a everlasting priest after the order of Melchizedek.

¹³⁶ Streams of water run down my eyes, because they do not observe your law.

⁵ But as for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of wickedness.
Peace be upon Israel.

¹ Oh that my head were waters and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

¹⁸ And let them make haste and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears and our eyelids gush out with waters.

¹⁷ But if you* will not hear it, my soul will weep in secret for your* pride. And my eye will weep greatly and run down with tears, because Jehovah's flock is taken captive.

⁷ At that instant I will speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it, ⁸ if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from their evil, I will relent of the evil that I thought to do to them.
⁹ And at that instant I will speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, ¹⁰ if they do what is evil in my sight, that they obey not my voice, then I will relent of the good with which I said I would benefit them.

³ Jehovah relented concerning this. It will not be, says Jehovah.

¹⁰ And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. And God relented of the evil which he said he would do to them and he did not do it.

² And he prayed to Jehovah and said, I beseech you, O Jehovah, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I hastened to flee to Tarshish, for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and relent you of the evil.

⁶ and those who are turned back from following Jehovah and those who have not sought Jehovah, nor inquired after him.

⁴⁴ But I am saying to you, Love^*\'b0 your enemies, speak well of those who curse you, do good things to those who hate you and pray on behalf of those who are railing at you and are persecuting you.

¹³ But he who has endured to the end, this one will be saved.

¹² Now it happened in these days, that he went out into the mountain to pray, and he was persisting through the night in prayer to God.

⁴¹ And as he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it, ⁴² saying, If you had known in this day, even you, for-sure, the things which are for your peace! But now they were hidden from your eyes. ⁴³ Because the days will be coming upon you, and your enemies will put a military-barrier around you and will surround you, and will crowd you on every-side, ⁴⁴ and will be leveling you to the bedrock, and your children among you, and they will not be leaving in you one stone upon another stone, because you did not know the time of your visitation.

¹ I say the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience is testifying together with me in the Holy Spirit, ² that great sorrow is in me and constant anguish in my heart. ³ For I was praying for myself to be accursed from the Christ on behalf of my brethren, my relatives according to the flesh,

³⁸ But my righteous one will be living from faith and if he retreats back, my soul does not delight in him.’

⁸ And the sons of Israel did so as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel and they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged and laid them down there.
⁹ And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood and they are there to this day.

⁵⁵ Maon, Carmel and Ziph and Juttah,

¹² Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Jehovah has helped us to now.

² And there was a man in Maon whose possessions were in Carmel. And the man was very great in goods and he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. And he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.

¹⁸ Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself the pillar which is in the king's valley, for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance. And he called the pillar after his own name and it is called Absalom's monument to this day.

⁴² So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel and he bowed himself down upon the earth and put his face between his knees.

¹² And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate.

¹⁹ And he blessed him and said, Abram be blessed from God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth.

² And he said to his mother, The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken from you, about which you uttered a curse and also spoke it in my ears, behold, the silver is with me. I took it. And his mother said, My son from Jehovah is blessed.

¹⁰ And he said, You are blessed of Jehovah, my daughter. You have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as you did not follow young men, whether poor or rich.

¹⁰ And it happened that, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.

¹¹ I regret that I have set up Saul to be king, for he has turned back from following me and has not performed my commandments. And Samuel was angry and he cried out to Jehovah all night.

² Let another man praise you and not your own mouth, a stranger and not your own lips.

¹³ He who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

¹³ There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes and their eyelids are lifted up.

³¹ Give her of the fruit of her hands and let her works praise her in the gates.

¹⁰ So also you, whenever you have done all the things which were commanded to you, say, We are useless bondservants, because we have done what we are obligated to have done.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and was praying these things with himself, God, I give-thanks to you, that I am not like the rest of men: swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers or just-like this tax collector.

² Because he flatters himself in his own eyes, that his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.

¹⁶ But to the wicked man God says, What have you to do to declare my statutes and that you have taken my covenant in your mouth, ¹⁷ since you hate instruction and cast my words behind you?
¹⁸ When you saw a thief, you consented with him and have been partaker with adulterers. ¹⁹ You give your mouth to evil and your tongue frames deceit. ²⁰ You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son.
²¹ These things you have done and I kept silence. You thought that I was altogether such a one as yourself. But I will reprove you and set them in order before your eyes.

¹⁸ And now what have you to do in the way to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or what have you to do in the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?
¹⁹ Your own wickedness will discipline you and your backslidings will reprove you. Know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and a bitter, that you have forsaken Jehovah your God and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

²² For though you wash with lye and take much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me, says the lord Jehovah. ²³ How can you say, I am not defiled; I have not gone after the Baals? See your way in the valley. Know what you have done, a swift dromedary traversing her ways,

³⁴ Also in your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the innocent poor. You did not find them breaking in. But it is because of all these things.
³⁵ Yet you said, I am innocent. Surely his anger is turned away from me. Behold, I will enter into judgment with you because you say, I have not sinned.
³⁶ Why do you go around so much to change your way? You will be ashamed of Egypt also, as you were ashamed of Assyria. ³⁷ You will also go forth from there with your hands upon your head. For Jehovah has rejected those in whom you trust. And you will not prosper with them.

¹³ Your* words have been stout against me, says Jehovah. Yet you* say, What have we spoken against you? ¹⁴ You* have said, It is vain to serve God and what profit is it that we have kept his charge and that we have walked mournfully before Jehovah of hosts? ¹⁵ And now we call the proud fortunate. Yes, those who work wickedness are built up. Yes, they challenge God and escape.

²² But he says to him, I will be judging you out of your own mouth, you evil bondservant. You knew that I am an austere man, lifting up from what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?

¹⁹ Now we know how-much, as many things as the law says, it is speaking to those in the law; in order that every mouth may be sealed and all the world may become under the sentence of God;

⁵ So-then, do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord should come, who will both be illuminating the hidden things of darkness and will be manifesting the plans of the hearts, and then the praise from God will happen for each.

¹² And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate.
¹³ And Jehovah God said to the woman, What is this that you have done?
And the woman said, The serpent deceived me and I ate.

²² And Aaron said, Do not let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil. ²³ For they said to me, Make gods for us, which will go before us. For as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

²¹ But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the devoted things, to sacrifice to Jehovah your God in Gilgal.

³³ if like Adam I have covered my transgressions by hiding my iniquity in my bosom

⁸ And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, While you are traveling, probe out accurately the things concerning the young child. And whenever you have found him, report to me, that I may also come and may worship him.

²⁹ But he, wishing to make himself righteous, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

²⁷ As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us (and he passed on), but stand still first, that I may cause you to hear the word of God.

⁷ Now therefore stand still that I may plead with you* before Jehovah concerning all the righteous acts of Jehovah, which he did to you* and to your* fathers.

¹⁶ And the king said to him, How many times shall I make you swear that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Jehovah?

¹⁵ And he said to him, Oh, Lord, with what shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is the poorest in Manasseh and I am the least in my father's house.

²¹ And Saul answered and said, Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me according to this manner?

²² Therefore they asked of Jehovah further, Is there yet a man to come here? And Jehovah answered, Behold, he has hid himself among the baggage.

¹ And Samuel said to Saul, Jehovah sent me to anoint you to be king over his people, over Israel. Now therefore listen you to the voice of the words of Jehovah. ² Jehovah of hosts says thus, I have remembered what Amalek did to Israel, how he set himself against him in the way when he came up out of Egypt.
³ Now go and kill* Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have and spare them not, but kill both man and woman, infant and nursing-baby, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.

¹ When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, but when he offended in Baal, he died.

⁴ Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child, this one is the greater one in the kingdom of the heavens.

¹³ Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and great sinners against Jehovah.

¹⁶ And they will come here again in the fourth generation, because the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.

³⁸ even the censers of these sinners against their own lives and let them be made beaten plates for a covering of the altar, for they offered them before Jehovah, therefore they are holy and they will be a sign to the sons of Israel.

³ Is it not calamity to the unrighteous and disaster to the workers of wickedness?

²⁹ The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of wickedness.

²¹ Evil pursues sinners, but the righteous will be recompensed with good.

³² and the people flew upon the spoil and took sheep and oxen and calves and killed them on the ground. And the people ate them with the blood.

² And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah after the abominations of the nations whom Jehovah cast out before the sons of Israel.

⁶ He also made his sons to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom. And he practiced soothsaying and used enchantments and practiced sorcery and dealt with psychics and with wizards. He worked much evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

¹² And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah his God. He did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of Jehovah.

²⁷ He who is greedy of gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.

¹¹ Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your* eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, says Jehovah.

⁹ Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil! ¹⁰ You have devised shame to your house, by cutting off many peoples and have sinned against your soul. ¹¹ For the stone will cry out of the wall and the beam out of the timber will answer it.
¹² Woe to him who builds a town with blood and establishes a city by unrighteousness!

¹⁰ for Demas forsook me and traveled to Thessalonica, having loved this current age; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

⁸ And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

¹³ And Samuel came to Saul. And Saul said to him, You are blessed of Jehovah. I have performed the commandment of Jehovah.

⁹ I am clean, without transgression. I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me.

⁵ For Job has said, I am righteous and God has taken away my right.

² What is this you think in judgment? Who are you that you said, I am righteousness before the Lord?

⁸ Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?

²⁰ The young-man says to him, I have observed all these things from my youth. So what am I still lacking?

³ For being ignorant of God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

¹³ And Jehovah God said to the woman, What is this that you have done?
And the woman said, The serpent deceived me and I ate.

⁵ Now therefore, if you* will obey my voice indeed and keep my covenant, then you* will be my own possession from among all peoples, for all the earth is mine,

⁶ Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you have prepared for me. Whole burnt offering and sacrifice for sin you did not require. ⁷ Then I said, Behold, I have come as it is written of me in the scroll of a book.
⁸ I delight to do your will, O my God. Yes, your law is within my heart.

⁸ I will not reprove you for your sacrifices and your burnt offerings being continually before me. ⁹ I will take no bullock out of your house, nor male-goats out of your folds.

¹⁶ Because you delight not in sacrifice, else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering.
¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and crushed heart, O God, you will not despise.

³ To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.

¹ Keep your foot when you go to the house of God, for to draw near to hear is better than to give the sacrifice of fools. For they do not know that they do evil.

¹¹ What to me is the multitude of your* sacrifices? says Jehovah. I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts. And I do not delight in the blood of bullocks or of lambs or of male-goats. ¹² When you* come to appear before me, who has required this at your* hand–to trample my courts?
¹³ Bring no more vain oblations. Incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath, the calling of assemblies–I cannot bear wickedness and the solemn assembly. ¹⁴ Your* new moons and your* appointed feasts my soul hates. They are a trouble to me. I am weary of bearing them.
¹⁵ And when you* spread forth your* hands, I will hide my eyes from you*. Yes, when you* make many prayers, I will not hear; your* hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash you*, make you* clean, put away the evil of your* practices from before my eyes. Cease to do evil. ¹⁷ Learn to do good. Seek justice, make the oppressed fortunate, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

²² For I spoke not to your* fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.
²³ But this thing I commanded them, saying, Listen to my voice and I will be your* God and you* will be my people. And walk you* in all the way that I command you*, that it may be well with you*.

⁴ which I commanded your* fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice and do them, according to all which I command you*, so you* will be my people and I will be your* God,

⁷ For I earnestly protested to your* fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

¹³ Now therefore amend your* ways and your* practices and obey the voice of Jehovah your* God and Jehovah will relent of the evil that he has pronounced against you*.

⁶ For I desire mercy and not sacrifice and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

²¹ I hate, I despise your* feasts and I will take no delight in your* solemn assemblies. ²² Yes, though you* offer me your* burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them, nor will I regard the peace offerings of your* fat beasts. ²³ You take away from me the noise of your songs, for I will not hear the melody of your viols. ²⁴ But let justice roll down as waters and righteousness as a mighty stream.

⁶ With what shall I come before Jehovah and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? ⁷ Will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
⁸ He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does Jehovah require of you, but to do justly and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?

²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar and go away. First be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift.

¹³ Now when you travel on, learn what is meant by, ‘I will to have mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

⁷ But if you had known what is meant by this, ‘I will to have mercy and not sacrifice,’ You would not have sentenced the crimeless.

²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and yet have left behind the weighty things of the law: justice and mercy and faith. You ought to do these, and not to have left behind those other things.

³³ and to love him from the whole heart and from the whole intelligence and from the whole soul and from the whole strength and to love his neighbor like himself, is more-than all the whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices.

⁴ For it is impossible that the blood of oxen and male-goats should take away sins. ⁵ Hence when he enters into the world, he says, ‘You did not wish to have sacrifice and offering, but you, yourself, completed a body for me. ⁶ You were not delighted in whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices concerning sin. ⁷ Then I said, (as it has been written concerning me in the volume of the book), Behold, I am coming to do your will, O God.’ ⁸ After saying this above, You do not wish, nor were you delighted in sacrifice and offering and whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices concerning sin, (which are offered according to the law), ⁹ then he has said, ‘Behold, I am coming to do your will, O God.’He assassinates
the first covenant, in order that he should establish the second covenant, ¹⁰ in which will, we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

¹⁹ Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep and Rachel stole the household-idol that was her father's.

³⁴ Now Rachel had taken the household-idol and put them in the camel's saddle and sat upon them. And Laban felt around all the tent, but did not find them.

¹⁸ You will not allow a sorceress to live.

⁶ And the soul that turns to those who have familiar spirits and to the wizards, to play the prostitute after them, I will even set my face against that soul and will cut him off from among his people.

²⁷ A man or also a woman who has a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, will surely be put to death. They will stone them with stones; their blood will be upon them.

⁹ Only do not rebel against Jehovah, neither fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them and Jehovah is with us. Fear them not.

⁷ Remember, do not you forget how you provoked Jehovah your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you went forth out of the land of Egypt, until you* came to this place, you* have been rebellious against Jehovah.

²⁴ You* have been rebellious against Jehovah from the day that I knew you*.

¹⁰ There will not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, a psychic, he who practices soothsaying, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, ¹¹ or a charmer, or a medium, or a spiritist, or a necromancer.

¹⁶ Thus says the whole congregation of Jehovah, What trespass is this that you* have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following Jehovah, in that you* have built for you* an altar, to rebel this day against Jehovah?
¹⁷ Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we have not cleansed ourselves to this day, although there came a plague upon the congregation of Jehovah, ¹⁸ that you* must turn away this day from following Jehovah? And it will be, seeing you* rebel today against Jehovah, that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel.
¹⁹ However, if the land of your* possession is unclean, then pass over to the land of the possession of Jehovah, in which Jehovah's tabernacle dwells and take possession among us, but do not rebel against Jehovah, nor rebel against us, in building for you* an altar besides the altar of Jehovah our God.

³⁰ Therefore Jehovah, the God of Israel, says, I said indeed that your house and the house of your father, should walk before me everlasting, but now Jehovah says, Be it far from me, for those who honor me I will honor and those who despise me will be lightly esteemed.

¹⁴ If you* will fear Jehovah and serve him and listen to his voice and not rebel against the commandment of Jehovah, then both you* and also the king who reigns over you* will be followers of Jehovah your* God. ¹⁵ But if you* will not listen to the voice of Jehovah, but rebel against the commandment of Jehovah, then the hand of Jehovah will be against you* as it was against your* fathers.

¹⁴ but now your kingdom will not continue. Jehovah has sought for him a man after his own heart and Jehovah has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept what Jehovah commanded you.

¹ And Jehovah said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided for me a king among his sons.

¹⁵ And they rejected his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and his testimonies which he testified to them. And they followed vanity and became vain and went after the nations that were all around them, concerning whom Jehovah had charged them that they should not do like them.
¹⁶ And they forsook all the commandments of Jehovah their God and made for them molten images, even two calves and made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.
¹⁷ And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire and used divination and enchantments and sold themselves to do what was evil in the sight of Jehovah to provoke him to anger.
¹⁸ Therefore Jehovah was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. There was none left but only the tribe of Judah.
¹⁹ Also Judah did not keep the commandments of Jehovah their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. ²⁰ And Jehovah rejected all the seed of Israel and afflicted them and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

⁹ And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind, for Jehovah searches all hearts and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

³⁷ so that we may not add to our sins and he claps his hands among us and multiplies his words against God.

¹¹ because they rebelled against the words of God and scorned the counsel of the Most High.

¹⁹ And when they will say to you*, Seek for those who have familiar spirits and for the wizards, who chirp and who mutter, should not a people seek for their God? On behalf of the living seek to the dead?

³ And the spirit of Egypt will fail in the midst of it and I will destroy the counsel of it. And they will seek for the idols and for the charmers and for those who have familiar spirits and for the wizards.

¹⁶ Therefore Jehovah says thus, Behold, I will send you away from the face of the earth. This year you will die because you have spoken rebellion against Jehovah.

³² therefore Jehovah says thus: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his seed. He will not have a man to dwell among this people, nor will he behold the good that I will do to my people, says Jehovah, because he has spoken rebellion against Jehovah.

⁵ And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear (for they are a rebellious house), yet will know that there has been a prophet among them.
⁶ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house. ⁷ And you will speak my words to them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, for they are most rebellious. ⁸ But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house.
Open your mouth and eat what I give you.

¹⁶ And what alliance has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God; just-as God said, ‘I will be dwelling among them and will be walking among them, and I will be their God and they will be a people to me.’

²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousies, furies, selfish ambitions, dissensions, sects,

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and sinners and detestable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and to all the false witnesses, their part will be in the lake which is burning with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

¹⁵ The dogs and the sorcerers and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices a lie are outside.

¹⁷ And to Adam he said, Because you have obeyed the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You will not eat of it, cursed is the ground for your sake. You will eat of it in toil all the days of your life.

²⁷ And Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron and said to them, I have sinned this time. Jehovah is righteous and I and my people are wicked.

¹⁶ Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste and he said, I have sinned against Jehovah your* God and against you*.

² You will not follow a multitude to do evil, neither will you speak in a case to turn aside after a multitude to distort justice,

³⁴ And Balaam said to the messenger of Jehovah, I have sinned, for I did not know that you stood in the way against me. Now therefore, if it displease you, I will get back again.

²⁹ Why do you* kick at my sacrifice and at my offering, which I have commanded in my habitation and honor your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chief of all the offerings of Israel my people?

³⁰ Then he said, I have sinned. I beseech you, yet honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah your God.

¹³ And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against Jehovah. And Nathan said to David, Jehovah also has put away your sin; you will not die.

³⁴ because I feared the great multitude and the contempt of families terrified me so that I kept my silence and did not go out of the door.

²⁵ The fear of man brings a snare, but he who puts his trust in Jehovah will be safe.

¹² I, even I, am he who comforts you*. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who will die and of the son of man who will be made as grass, ¹³ and have forgotten Jehovah your maker, who stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth and fear continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he makes ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

⁵ And Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your* hand, for the king is not he who can do anything against you*.

⁴ saying, I have sinned, giving up innocent blood.
But they said, What is that to us? You will see to it.

²⁰ Therefore Pilate shouted to them again, wishing to release Jesus.
²¹ But they were shouting out, saying, Crucify him! Crucify him!
²² Now he said to them the third-time, For what evil has this one done? I have found no crime worthy of death in him; therefore, after having disciplined him, I will be releasing him. ²³ But they were urgently asking with loud voices for him to be crucified. And their voices and those of the high-priests were prevailing. ²⁴ But Pilate decided their request was to happen. ²⁵ Now he released the one who has been cast into the prison because of riot and murder, whom they were asking for, but he gave up Jesus to their will.

¹⁰ For am I now persuading men or God? Or am I seeking to please men? For if I was still pleasing men, I myself would not be a bondservant of Christ.

¹⁷ Now therefore I beseech you, forgive my sin only this once and entreat Jehovah your* God, that he may only take away from me this death.

³⁸ And he said, My son will not go down with you*, because his brother is dead and he only is left. If harm befalls him by the way in which you* go, then you* will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.

¹¹ And their father Israel said to them, If it is so now, do this: take of the choice fruits of the land in your* vessels and carry a present down to the man, a little balm and a little honey, spicery and myrrh, nuts and almonds. ¹² And take double money in your* hand and the money that was returned in the mouth of your* sacks carry again in your* hand. Perhaps it was an oversight. ¹³ Also take your* brother and arise, go again to the man.
¹⁴ And God Almighty give you* mercy before the man, that he may release to you* your* other brother and Benjamin. And if I be bereaved of my sons, I am bereaved.

²³ For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as idolatry and household-idol. Because you have rejected the word of Jehovah, he has also rejected you from being king.

³¹ So Samuel turned again after Saul and Saul worshiped Jehovah.

¹⁹ Hear, O earth: Behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to my words. And as for my law, they have rejected it.

⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you, that you will be no priest to me. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your sons.

²⁸ And they drew near to the village, where they were traveling and he was making-like that he was to travel farther.
²⁹ And they constrained him, saying, Abide with us, because it is toward dusk and the day is far-spent. And he entered in to abide together with them.

¹¹ for he who says hello to him is sharing in his evil works.

³⁰ And Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him and tore it in twelve pieces.
³¹ And he said to Jeroboam, You take ten pieces, for Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel, Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to you

⁷ Jehovah makes poor and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust, he lifts up the needy from the dunghill, to make them sit with rulers and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are Jehovah's and he has set the world upon them.

¹² And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and of a beautiful countenance and fine to look upon. And Jehovah said, Arise, anoint him, for this is he.

¹⁷ And Jehovah has done to you, as he spoke by me. And Jehovah has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, even to David. ¹⁸ Because you obeyed not the voice of Jehovah and did not execute his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore Jehovah has done this thing to you this day.

⁵ I have made the earth, the men and the beasts that are upon the face of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm and I give it to whom it seems right to me.
⁶ And now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant. And the beasts of the field I have also given him to serve him.

¹⁷ The sentence is by the decree of the watchers and the demand by the word of the holy ones, to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever he will and sets up over it the lowest of men.

³² And you will be driven from men and your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will be made to eat grass as oxen and seven times will pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever he will.

¹¹ Jesus answered, You have no authority against me, except what was given to you from above. He who gave me to you has the greater sin because of this.

²² And having removed him, he lifted up David to be king to them; to whom he also testified and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart, who will be practicing all my will.

¹ Let every soul be subject to the authorities which are superior to him; for there is no authority if not by God, and the authorities which are, have been appointed by God.

²⁸ Say to them, As I live, says Jehovah, surely as you* have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you*. ²⁹ Your* dead bodies will fall in this wilderness. And all who were numbered of you*, according to your* whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me,

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said and will he not do it? Or has he spoken and will he not make it good?

²⁷ The God of long-ago is your dwelling-place and underneath are the everlasting arms. And he thrust out the enemy from before you and said, Destroy.

¹¹ Yours, O Jehovah, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Jehovah and you are exalted as head above all.

¹¹ Jehovah will give strength to his people. Jehovah will bless his people with peace.

³⁵ O God, awesome out of your holy places, the God of Israel, he gives strength and power to his people. Praise God.

¹¹ Therefore I swore in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

²⁴ Only in Jehovah, it is said of me, is righteousness and strength. Even to him men will come and all those who were incensed against him will be put to shame.

¹⁴ I, Jehovah, have spoken it. It will happen and I will do it. I will not go back. I will neither spare, nor will I relent. According to your ways and according to your practices, they will judge you, says the lord Jehovah.

¹⁶ And Jehovah will roar from Zion and utter his voice from Jerusalem and the heavens and the earth will shake. But Jehovah will be a refuge to his people and a stronghold to the sons of Israel.

⁹ And he has said to me, My grace is enough for you; for my power is completed in weakness. Therefore I will rather gladly be boasting in my weaknesses, in order that the power of the Christ might reside upon me.

¹³ I am strong in all things in the Christ, who is empowering me.

¹³ if we are unfaithful, that one is remaining faithful; he is not able to deny himself.

² upon the hope of everlasting life, which God, who is incapable of lying, promised before times everlasting.

¹⁸ in order that through two unchangeable matters, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge, to take-hold of the hope that lays before us.

¹³ And the Lord said, Inasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but have removed their heart far from me, but in vain they worship me, teaching the commandments and doctrines of men.

⁴ Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright in him. (But the righteous man will live by his faith.)

⁹ Now he spoke this parable to some who have confidence in themselves, that they were righteous, and scorning the rest: ¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple to pray; the first one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and was praying these things with himself, God, I give-thanks to you, that I am not like the rest of men: swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers or just-like this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice in the week; I tithe of all things, as many things as I procure. ¹³ And the tax collector, standing from afar, was not even willing to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, God, be lenient to me, the sinner. ¹⁴ I say to you, This one went down to his house, having been made righteous rather than that man, because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, but he who is humbling himself will be exalted.

⁴⁴ How are you able to believe, receiving glory from one another, and yet you are not seeking the glory that comes from the God alone?

⁴³ for they loved the glory from men rather than the glory from God.

⁵ holding to a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Now turn yourself away from these people.

⁴⁴ He who flees from the fear will fall into the pit and he who gets up out of the pit will be taken in the snare. For I will bring upon him, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, says Jehovah.

³ For whenever they are saying, Peace and security; then sudden utter-destruction stands by them, just-like the travail a woman has in her womb, and they may never flee away from it.

⁷ In how-much she glorified herself and was promiscuous, give to her so-much more torment and mourning, because she says in her heart, I am sitting as a queen and I am no widow and may never see mourning.

⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, his blood will be shed by man. For in the image of God he made man.

¹¹ And it happened, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

⁴⁵ Then the Amalekites came down and the Canaanites who dwelt in that mountain and killed* them and beat them down, even to Hormah.

⁷ And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the midst of the congregation and took a spear in his hand. ⁸ And he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel and the woman through her body. So the plague was stayed from the sons of Israel.

⁷ And Adoni-bezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered scraps under my table. As I have done, so God has requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem and he died there.

⁴⁰ and Elijah said to them, Take the prophets of Baal; do not let one of them escape. And they took them and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and killed them there.

⁶ The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood. It is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams, for Jehovah has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

¹⁰ Cursed be he who does the work of Jehovah negligently and cursed be he who keeps back his sword from blood.

² For in what judgment you judge, you will be judged and in what measure you measure, it will be measured to you.

¹³ For the judgment is merciless to the one who has not practiced mercy; mercy wins over judgment.

⁶ because they poured out the blood of holy-ones and prophets and you gave blood to them to drink because they are worthy.

⁶ Repay to her as she has also given to you and you do this double to her–double again according to her works; in the cup which she mingled, mingle to her double again.

¹⁷ And his return was to Ramah, for his house was there. And there he judged Israel and there he built an altar to Jehovah.

⁴ Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and spoke these words in the ears of the people. And all the people lifted up their voice and wept.

²⁴ And he also stripped off his clothes and he also prophesied before Samuel and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

¹⁵⁸ I beheld the treacherous and was grieved because they do not observe your word.

¹ Oh that my head were waters and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
² Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of wayfaring men, that I might leave my people and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

¹⁸ For many are walking, (of whom I was speaking to you often about them; now I am also telling you, weeping), who are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
