²⁰ who has shown me great and evil distresses; You will turn me; You will make me live. You will turn me from the depths of the earth, You will bring me up.

¹¹ So says Jehovah, Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house, and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor. And he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.

¹⁰ For You will not leave My soul in hell; You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

I waited patiently for Jehovah; and He bowed down to me, and heard my cry. ² He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and gave sureness to my steps. ³ And He has put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God; many shall see it and fear, and shall trust in Jehovah.

³ You have shown Your people hard things; You have made us to drink the wine of trembling.

¹⁰ For You have proved us, O God; You have tested us, as silver is refined. ¹¹ You have brought us into the net; You have laid affliction on our loins. ¹² You have allowed men to ride at our head; we have gone through fire and through water, but You have brought us out to plenty.

¹⁸ So we will not go back from You; make us live, and we will call on Your name.

⁶ Will You not give us life again, so that Your people may rejoice in You?

¹³ For great is Your mercy toward me; and You have delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

⁶ You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps. ⁷ Your wrath lies hard on me, and You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah. ⁸ You have taken my friends away from me; You have made me a hateful thing to them. I am shut up, and I cannot go out. ⁹ My eye mourns because of affliction; O Jehovah, I have called daily on You; I have stretched out my hands to You. ¹⁰ For will You do wonders to the dead? Shall the dead rise and praise You? Selah. ¹¹ Shall Your loving-kindness be declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in ruin? ¹² Shall Your wonders be known in the dark, and Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? ¹³ But to You I have cried, O Jehovah; and in the morning my prayer shall go before You. ¹⁴ O Jehovah, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me? ¹⁵ I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up; while I suffer Your terrors, I pine away. ¹⁶ Your fierce wrath goes over me; Your terrors have cut me off. ¹⁷ They surrounded me like waters all the day long; they have come together around me. ¹⁸ You have taken lover and friend far from me, and those who know me into darkness.

¹² Therefore prophesy and say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah: Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, and will bring you into the land of Israel. ¹³ And you shall know that I am Jehovah when I have opened your graves, O My people, and have brought you up out of your graves.

¹ Come and let us return to Jehovah. For He has torn, and He will heal us; He has stricken, and He will bind us up. ² After two days He will bring us to life; in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.

⁶ I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was around me forever; yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.

Who is caused to stumble, and I do not burn? ³⁰ If it is right to boast, I will boast of the things of my weakness. ³¹ The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed forever, knows that I do not lie.

⁹ (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

¹⁴ And I said to him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation and have washed their robes, and have whitened them in the blood of the Lamb.
