¹⁹ He appointed the moon for seasons; the sun knows its going down.

¹⁴ And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to divide between the day and the night. And let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years. ¹⁵ And let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth. And it was so. ¹⁶ And God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night, and the stars also. ¹⁷ And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth, ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night; and to divide between the light and the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

¹⁹ and lest you lift up your eyes to the heavens, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, lest you should be driven to worship them and serve them, which Jehovah your God has allotted to all nations under all the heavens.

²⁶ if I looked to the light when it shone, or the moon walking in brightness, ²⁷ and my heart has been secretly enticed, or my mouth has kissed my hand; ²⁸ this also would be an iniquity for the judges; for I would have denied the God above.

¹² Have you commanded the morning from your days, and caused the dawn to know its place,

³ When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have established;

⁶ going forth from the end of the heavens, and its course is to their ends. And there is nothing hid from its heat.

⁷ To Him who made great lights; for His mercy endures forever. ⁸ The sun to rule by day; for His mercy endures forever. ⁹ the moon and stars to rule by night; for His mercy endures forever.

³⁵ So says Jehovah, who gives the sun for a light by day and the laws of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who divides the sea when its waves roar; Jehovah of Hosts is His name;
