⁵⁹ And the chief priests and the elders and all the sanhedrin sought false witness against Jesus, in order to put Him to death.

¹⁶ If a false witness rises up against any man to testify a falling away against him, ¹⁷ then both the men who are disagreeing shall stand before Jehovah, before the priests and the judges which shall be in those days. ¹⁸ And the judges shall make careful inquiry. And behold, if the witness is a false witness and has testified falsely against his brother, ¹⁹ then you shall do to him as he had thought to have done to his brother. So you shall put the evil away from among you. ²⁰ And those who remain shall hear and fear, and shall commit from then on no such evil among you. ²¹ And your eye shall not pity. Life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

⁸ And she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and to the nobles in his city, dwelling with Naboth. ⁹ And she wrote in the letter, saying, Proclaim a fast and set Naboth on high among the people. ¹⁰ And set two men, sons of Belial, before him to bear witness against him, saying, You blasphemed God and the king. ¹⁸ A man who bears false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

²² But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be liable to the judgment. And whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be liable to the sanhedrin; but whoever shall say, Fool! shall be liable to be thrown into the fire of hell.

⁵⁵ And the chief priests and all the sanhedrin sought for witness against Jesus, to put Him to death. And they found none. ⁵⁶ For many testified falsely against Him, but the testimonies were not identical.

¹¹ And they induced men to be saying, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God. ¹² And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes. And coming on, they seized him and brought him to the sanhedrin. ¹³ And they set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Law.

¹ And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders and with a certain orator, Tertullus, who made a statement to the governor against Paul. ² And being called, Tertullus began to accuse, saying, ³ Since we enjoy great quietness by you, and very worthy deeds are done to this nation due to your forethought, in everything and everywhere, most noble Felix, we accept with all thankfulness. ⁴ But that I not hinder you further, I beseech you to hear us briefly in your fairness. ⁵ For we have found this man pestilent, and moving rebellion among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes, ⁶ who also attempted to profane the temple, whom we took and would have judged according to our Law. ⁷ But the chiliarch Lysias came with much force, taking him away out of our hands, ⁸ commanding his accusers to come to you. By examining him, you yourself may know about all these things of which we accuse him. ⁹ And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so. ¹⁰ But the governor motioning to him to speak, Paul answered; Understanding you as being a judge of this nation many years, I cheerfully defend myself as to the things concerning myself. ¹¹ You can know that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship. ¹² And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, nor making a gathering of a crowd; not even in the synagogues, nor throughout the city. ¹³ Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.
