¹² And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of Heaven is taken by violence, and the violent take it by force.

²³ And when He had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him as He was teaching, and said, By what authority do you do these things? And who gave you this authority? ²⁴ And Jesus answered and said to them, I will also ask you one thing; which if you tell Me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things. ²⁵ The baptism of John, where was it from? From Heaven or from men? And they reasoned within themselves, saying, If we shall say, From Heaven, he will say to us, Why then did you not believe him? ²⁶ But if we shall say From men, we fear the people; for all consider John as a prophet. ²⁷ And they answered Jesus and said, We cannot tell. And He said to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things. ²⁸ But what do you think? A man had two sons; and he came to the first and said, Son, go work in my vineyard today. ²⁹ He answered and said, I will not. But afterwards he repented and went. ³⁰ And he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir; and did not go. ³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father? They said to Him, The first. Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you that the tax-collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax-collectors and the harlots believed him. And when you had seen it, you did not repent afterwards so that you might believe him.

²⁹ And all the people and the tax-collectors who heard Him justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. ³⁰ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, not being baptized by him.

²⁴ Strive to enter in at the narrow gate. For I say to you, many will seek to enter in and shall not be able.

¹⁶ The Law and the Prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and everyone is pressing into it.

²⁷ Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for that food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you. For God the Father sealed Him.

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

¹² Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, cultivate your own salvation with fear and trembling.
