Luke 18 Cross References - MKJV

1 And He also spoke a parable to them to teach it is always right to pray, and not to faint, 2 saying, A certain judge was in a certain city, not fearing God, nor respecting man. 3 And a widow was in that city. And she came to Him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary. 4 And he would not do so for a time. But afterward he said within himself, Though I do not fear God nor regard man, 5 yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, that she not wear me down in the end. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says. 7 And shall not God avenge His own elect who cry day and night to Him, though He has been long-suffering over them? 8 I say to you that He will avenge them speedily. Yet when the Son of Man comes, shall He find faith on the earth? 9 And He spoke this parable to certain ones who trusted in themselves, that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed within himself in this way: God, I thank You that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax-collector. 12 I fast twice on the Sabbath, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And standing afar off, the tax-collector would not even lift up his eyes to Heaven, but struck on his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner! 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself shall be abased, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted. 15 And they also brought infants to Him, that He might touch them. But when the disciples saw, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called them and said, Allow the little children to come to Me, and forbid them not. For of such is the kingdom of God. 17 Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no way enter into it. 18 And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me good? None is good except One, God. 20 You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor your father and your mother. 21 And he said, I have kept all these from my youth up. 22 And when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, Yet you lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, follow Me. 23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful, for he was very rich. 24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, He said, How hardly those having riches shall enter into the kingdom of God! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than for a rich one to enter into the kingdom of God. 26 And the ones who heard said, And who can be saved? 27 And He said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. 28 And Peter said, Lo, we have left all and have followed You. 29 And He said to them, Truly I say to you, There is no one who has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and, in the world to come everlasting life. 31 And He took the Twelve and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 For He will be delivered to the nations and will be mocked and insulted and spat on. 33 And they will scourge Him and put Him to death, and the third day He will rise again. 34 And they did not understand any of these things. And this saying was hidden from them, nor did they know the things which were spoken. 35 And as He came near Jericho, it happened that a certain blind man sat by the roadside begging. 36 And hearing the crowd pass by, he asked what it meant. 37 And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth passed by. 38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, Son of David! Have mercy on me. 39 And they who were in front rebuked him that he should be quiet. But he cried so much the more, Son of David! Have mercy on me. 40 And Jesus stood and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him, 41 saying, What do you desire that I should do to you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. 42 And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight! Your faith has saved you. 43 And immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And when they saw, all the people gave praise to God.

For with my staff I passed over this Jordan, and now I have become two bands. 11 Deliver me, I pray You, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau. And if he changes it at all, then both it and the change of it shall be holy. It shall not be redeemed.

After a flea? 15 May Jehovah therefore be judge, and judge between you and me, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand.

He would not go, however, but blessed him. 26 Then Absalom said, If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us? And the king said to him, Why should he go with you? 27 But Absalom pressed him, so that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

2 Samuel 14:5-24

5 And the king said to her, What ails you? And she answered, I am indeed a widow, and my husband died. 6 And your handmaid had two sons, and the two of them fought together in the field. And there was no deliverer between them, but the one struck the other and killed him. 7 And behold, the whole family has risen against your handmaid. And they said, Deliver him who struck his brother so that we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he killed. And we will destroy the heir also. And so they shall put out my coal which is left, and shall leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the face of the earth. 8 And the king said to the woman, Go to your house, and I will give command concerning you. 9 And the woman of Tekoah said to the king, My lord, O king, may the iniquity be on me and on my father's house. And may the king and his throne be without guilt. 10 And the king said, Whoever speaks to you, you also bring him to me, and he shall not touch you any more. 11 Then she said, Please let the king remember Jehovah your God, that you would not allow the avengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they should destroy my son. And he said, As the Lord lives, there shall not one hair of your son fall to the earth. 12 Then the woman said, Please let your handmaid speak one more word to my lord the king. And he said, Say on! 13 And the woman said, Why then have you thought such a thing against the people of God? For the king speaks this thing as one who is at fault, in that the king does not bring his banished one home again. 14 For we must all die, and we are as water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. And God does not take a life, but has devised plans so that the outcast is not cast out from Him. 15 And now I have come to speak of this thing to my lord the king, because the people have made me afraid. And your handmaid said, I will now speak to the king. It may be that the king will do what his handmaid has asked. 16 For the king will hear, to deliver his handmaid out of the hand of the man who would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God. 17 And your handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comforting. For as an angel of God, so is my lord the king, to see what is good and bad. And Jehovah your God will be with you. 18 And the king answered and said to the woman, Please do not hide from me the thing that I shall ask you. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak. 19 And the king said, Is the hand of Joab with you in all this? And the woman answered and said, As your soul lives, my lord the king, none shall turn to the right hand or to the left from anything which my lord the king has spoken. For your servant Joab commanded me. And he put all these words in the mouth of your handmaid. 20 Your servant Joab has done this thing to change the face of the matter. And my lord is wise according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all that is in the land. 21 And the king said to Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing. Go therefore and bring the young man Absalom again. 22 And Joab fell to the ground on his face, and bowed himself, and thanked the king. And Joab said, Today your servant knows that I have found grace in your sight, my lord, O, king, in that the king has done what your servant has asked. 23 And Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem. 24 And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. And Absalom returned to his own house, and did not see the king's face.

1 Kings 3:5-15

5 In Gibeon Jehovah appeared to Solomon in a dream by night. And God said, Ask what I shall give you! 6 And Solomon said, You have shown to Your servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before You in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with You. And You have kept this great kindness for him, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is today. 7 And now, O Jehovah my God, You have made Your servant king instead of David my father. And I am a little child; I do not know to go out or come in! 8 And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a numerous people who cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 And give to Your servant an understanding heart, to judge Your people, to discern between good and bad. For who is able to judge this, Your great people? 10 And the word was good in the eyes of Jehovah, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said to him, Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, and have not asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to judge justly, 12 behold, I have done according to your words. Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart, so that there was none like you before you, and after you none shall arise like you. 13 And I also have given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like you all your days. 14 And if you will walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days. 15 And Solomon awoke, and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

And he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back to Jehovah, the God of their fathers. 5 And he set judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city. 6 And he said to the judges, Take heed what you do. For you do not judge for man, but for Jehovah, who is with you in the judgment. 7 And now let the fear of Jehovah be on you. Be careful and act wisely, for there is no iniquity with Jehovah our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts. 8 And Jehoshaphat set some of the Levites and of the priests and of the chief of the fathers of Israel in Jerusalem for the judgment of Jehovah, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem. 9 And he charged them, saying, And you shall act in the fear of Jehovah, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.

Psalms 22:1-31

1 To the Chief Musician, on the deer of the dawn. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have You forsaken me, and are far from my deliverance, and from the words of my groaning? 2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not answer; and in the night, and am not silent. 3 But You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted, and You delivered them. 5 They cried to You, and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not ashamed. 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people. 7 All who see Me mock me; they shoot out the lip; they shake the head, saying, 8 He trusted on Jehovah; let Him deliver Him; let Him rescue Him, since He delights in Him! 9 For You are He who took Me out of the womb, causing Me to trust while on My mother's breasts. 10 I was cast on You from the womb; You are My God from My mother's belly. 11 Be not far from Me; for trouble is near, for there is none to help. 12 Many bulls have circled around Me; strong bulls Of Bashan have surrounded Me. 13 They opened wide their mouths on Me, like a ripping and a roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, and all My bones are spread apart; My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws; 16 and You have brought Me into the dust of death. For dogs have circled around Me; the band of spoilers have hemmed Me in, piercers of My hands and My feet. 17 I can count all My bones; they look and stare at Me. 18 They divide My garments among them and cast lots for My clothing. 19 But You, O Jehovah, be not far from Me; O My strength, hurry to help Me! 20 Deliver My soul from the sword, My only one from the dog's hand. 21 Save Me from the lion's mouth; from the wild oxen's horns. You have answered Me. 22 I will declare Your name to My brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise You. 23 You who fear Jehovah, praise Him; all of you, the seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and fear Him all the seed of Israel. 24 For He has not despised nor hated the affliction of the afflicted; and He has not hidden His face from him, but when he cried to Him, He heard. 25 My praise shall be of You in the great congregation; I will pay My vows before the ones who fear Him. 26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek Jehovah shall praise Him; your heart shall live forever. 27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to Jehovah; and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. 28 For the kingdom is Jehovah's; and He is the ruler among the nations. 29 All the fat ones on the earth shall eat and worship; all those who go down to the dust shall bow before Him; and none can keep alive his own soul. 30 A seed shall serve Him; it shall be spoken of Jehovah to the coming generation. 31 They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness to a people that shall yet be born, that He has done this.

1 To the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A contemplation. A Psalm of David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, Does not David hide himself among us? Save me, O God, by Your name, and judge me by Your strength. 2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. 3 For strangers have risen up against me, and cruel men seek after my soul; they have not set God before them. Selah. 4 Behold, God is my helper; Jehovah is with those who uphold my soul. 5 He shall reward evil to my enemies; cut them off in Your truth. 6 I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O Jehovah, for it is good. 7 For He has delivered me out of all trouble; and my eye has seen its desire on my enemies.

Psalms 69:1-36

1 To the Chief Musician. Concerning the Lilies. A Psalm of David. Save me, O God! for the waters have come in on my soul. 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 3 I am weary from my crying; my throat is dried; my eyes fail while I wait for my God. 4 They who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; they who would destroy me are mighty, my lying enemies. Then I restored what I did not take away. 5 O God, You know my foolishness, and my guiltiness is not hidden from You. 6 Do not let those who wait on You, O Jehovah, the God of Hosts, be ashamed for my sake; let not the ones who seek You be ashamed for my sake, O God of Israel, 7 because I have borne reproach for Your sake, shame has covered my face. 8 I have become a stranger to My brothers, and a foreigner to My mother's children. 9 For the zeal of Your house has eaten Me up; and the reproaches of those who reproached You have fallen on Me. 10 When I humbled my soul with fasting, it turned to my reproach. 11 I also made sackcloth my clothing, and I became a proverb to them. 12 They who sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. 13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Jehovah, in a pleasing time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy hear me, in the truth of Your salvation. 14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink; let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters. 15 Do not let the flood of waters overflow me, nor let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut its mouth on me. 16 Hear me, O Jehovah, for Your loving-kindness is good; turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies. 17 And hide not Your face from Your servant; for I am in trouble; hear me quickly. 18 Draw near my soul, and redeem it; deliver me because of my enemies. 19 You have known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor; my enemies are all before You. 20 Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness; and I looked for some to mourn with me, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. 21 They also gave Me gall for my food; and in My thirst they gave Me vinegar to drink. 22 Let their table become a snare before them; and to those at ease a trap. 23 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see; and make their loins shake without ceasing. 24 Pour out Your wrath on them, and let the glow of Your anger take hold of them. 25 Let their dwelling be wasted; let none dwell in their tents. 26 For they persecute him whom You have stricken, and they talk to the grief of those You pierced. 27 Add iniquity to their iniquity, and let them not come into Your righteousness. 28 Let them be blotted out of the Book of Life, and not be written with the righteous. 29 But I am poor and sorrowful; let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high. 30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. 31 This also shall please Jehovah better than an ox, or a bull that has horns and hoofs. 32 The humble shall see and be glad; and your heart shall live, you who seek God. 33 For Jehovah hears the needy, and does not despise His prisoners. 34 Let the heavens and earth praise Him, the seas, and everything that moves in them. 35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah; so that they may dwell there, and possess it. 36 And the seed of His servants shall inherit it, and they who love His name shall dwell in it.

Psalms 73:5-12

5 They are not in trouble like other men; neither are they plagued like other men. 6 Therefore pride enchains them; violence covers them like a robe. 7 Their eyes stand out with fatness; they have more than the heart could imagine. 8 They scoff and speak in malice of cruelty; from on high they speak. 9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth. 10 Therefore His people return here, and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. 11 And they say, How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High? 12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who are at ease in the world; they increase in riches.

Psalms 84:10-12

10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11 For Jehovah God is a sun and shield; Jehovah will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. 12 O Jehovah of Hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You.

And to whom is the arm of Jehovah revealed? 2 For He comes up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground; He has no form nor majesty that we should see Him, nor an appearance that we should desire Him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not.

He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep before its shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall declare His generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of My people He was stricken. 9 And He put His grave with the wicked, and with a rich one in His death; although He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth. 10 Yet it pleased Jehovah to crush Him; to grieve Him; that He should put forth His soul as a guilt-offering. He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the will of Jehovah shall prosper in His hand. 11 He shall see the fruit of the travail of His soul. He shall be fully satisfied. 10 For as many as are out of works of the Law, these are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the Book of the Law, to do them." 11 But that no one is justified by the Law in the sight of God is clear, for, "The just shall live by faith." 12 But the Law is not of faith; but, "The man who does these things shall live in them." 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone having been hanged on a tree");

4 though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other thinks that he has reason to trust in the flesh, I more. 5 I was circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews. As regards the Law, I was a Pharisee;

Philippians 3:5

Philippians 3:6

6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness in the Law, blameless. 7 But whatever things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 But no, rather, I also count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them to be dung, so that I may win Christ

1 Timothy 1:12-16

12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who strengthened me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry-- 13 the one who before was a blasphemer and a persecutor and insolent. 12 For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

Do not rich men oppress you and draw you before the judgment seats? 7 Do they not blaspheme that worthy Name by which you are called? 8 If you fulfill the royal Law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well. 9 But if you have respect to persons, you commit sin and are convicted by the Law as transgressors.
