¹⁷ And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father abound in loaves, and I perish with hunger!

²⁰ like a dream when one awakens; so, O Jehovah, when You awake, You shall despise their image.

³ This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event to all. Yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

It is hard for you to kick against the goads. ¹⁵ And I said, Who are you, lord? And He said, I am Jesus whom you persecute. ¹⁶ But rise and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of what you saw, and in what I shall appear to you; ¹⁷ delivering you from the people and the nations, to whom I now send you ¹⁸ in order to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, so that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me. ¹⁹ After this, king Agrippa, I did not disobey the heavenly vision.

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love with which He loved us ⁵ (even when we were dead in sins) has made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved),

¹⁴ Therefore he says, "Awake, sleeping ones! And arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light."

⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

¹⁶ Do not err, my beloved brothers. ¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness nor shadow of turning. ¹⁸ Of His own will He brought us forth with the Word of truth, for us to be a certain firstfruit of His creatures.
