² And you shall make no treaty with those who live in this land. You shall throw down their altars. But you have not obeyed My voice. What is this that you have done?

¹¹ And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree which I commanded you that you should not eat? ¹² And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.

¹⁰ And He said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries to Me from the ground.

³² You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods. ³³ They shall not dwell in your land lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it surely will be a snare to you.

²¹ And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people do to you, that you have brought so great a sin upon them?

¹² Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the people of the land where you go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you. ¹³ But you shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their sacred poles. ¹⁴ For you shall worship no other god. For Jehovah, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God; ¹⁵ lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice to their gods, and call you, and you eat of his sacrifice; ¹⁶ and lest you take from their daughters for your sons, and their daughters go whoring after their gods and make your sons go whoring after their gods.

⁵² then you shall drive out all those who live in the land from before you, and destroy all their carved images, and destroy all their molded images and pluck down all their high places. ⁵³ And you shall possess the land, and live in it. For I have given you the land to possess it.

² and Jehovah your God shall deliver them before you, you shall crush them, completely destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them. ³ Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter to your son. ⁴ For they will turn away your son from following Me, so that they may serve other gods. So the anger of Jehovah will be kindled against you and will destroy you suddenly.

¹⁶ And you shall destroy all the people which Jehovah your God shall deliver you. Your eye shall have no pity upon them, neither shall you serve their gods, for they will be a snare to you.

²⁵ You shall burn the graven images of their gods with fire. You shall not desire the silver or gold on them, nor take it for yourself, so that you may not be snared in it. For it is an abomination to Jehovah your God. ²⁶ And you shall not bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it. You shall utterly hate it, and you shall utterly despise it. For it is a cursed thing.

² You shall completely destroy all the places in which the nations which you shall possess served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. ³ And you shall overthrow their altars and break their pillars, and burn their pillars with fire. And you shall cut down the carved images of their gods, and destroy their names out of that place.

¹⁶ But of the cities of these people, which Jehovah your God gives you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes. ¹⁷ But you shall utterly destroy them: the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites; as Jehovah your God has commanded you, ¹⁸ so that they may not teach you to do according to all their abominations which they have done to their gods. So you would sin against Jehovah your God.

²⁰ And the anger of Jehovah glowed against Israel. And He said, Because this nation has transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to My voice,

¹ And at the end of these things, the rulers came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands. But they are doing according to their abominations, those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. ² For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons. So the holy seed has mixed themselves with the people of those lands. Yes, the hand of the leaders and overseers has been chief in this sin. ³ And when I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down stricken dumb.

¹⁰ And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments ¹¹ which You commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying, The land into which you go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from one end to the other with their uncleanness. ¹² And now do not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth forever, so that you may be strong and eat the good of the land and leave it for an inheritance to your sons forever. ¹³ And after all that has come on us for our evil deeds and for our great sin, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such an escape as this,

⁵⁵ He also cast out the nations before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents. ⁵⁶ Yet they tempted and provoked the Most High God, and kept not His testimonies; ⁵⁷ but they turned back, and acted unfaithfully like their fathers; they were turned aside like a deceiving bow. ⁵⁸ For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.

³⁴ They did not destroy the nations as Jehovah commanded them; ³⁵ but were mixed among the nations, and learned their works. ³⁶ And they served their idols, which were a snare to them. ³⁷ Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, ³⁸ and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was defiled with blood. ³⁹ And they were defiled with their works, and went lusting in their doings. ⁴⁰ And the wrath of Jehovah was kindled against His people, and He detested His inheritance.

⁵ So says Jehovah, What injustice have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me and have walked after vanity, and have become vain?

¹⁸ And now what is for you toward the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? Or what for you toward Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?

³¹ O generation, see the Word of Jehovah. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of darkness? Why do My people say, We roam freely; we will come no more to You? ³² Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me days without number. ³³ Why did you trim your way to seek love? Therefore you have also taught the evil women your ways.

³⁶ Why do you go about so much to change your way? You also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.

²³ But I commanded them this thing, saying, Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people; and walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, so that it may be well with you. ²⁴ But they did not listen, nor bow their ear, but walked in their own plans, in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward. ²⁵ Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending. ²⁶ Yet they did not listen to Me, nor bow down their ear, but hardened their neck. They did worse than their fathers. ²⁷ So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you; you shall also call to them, but they will not answer you. ²⁸ But you shall say to them, This is a nation which does not obey the voice of Jehovah their God, nor receives instruction; truth has perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship does righteousness have with lawlessness? And what partnership does light have with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." ¹⁷ Therefore come out from among them and be separated, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing. And I will receive you

⁸ in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁷ For the time has come for the judgment to begin from the house of God. And if it first begins from us, what will be the end of those disobeying the gospel of God?
