¹² And the sons of Israel could not stand before their enemies. They will turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become cursed. I will not be with you again, unless you destroy the one who is cursed from among you.

⁴⁵ And the Amalekites and the Canaanites who were living in that mountain came down and struck them, and beat them down, to Hormah.

²⁶ And you shall not bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it. You shall utterly hate it, and you shall utterly despise it. For it is a cursed thing.

¹⁸ And you surely shall keep clear of the cursed thing, lest you make yourselves cursed when you take of the cursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

¹⁸ But must you turn away today from following Jehovah? It shall be, you rebel today against Jehovah, and tomorrow He will be angry with all the congregation of Israel. ¹⁹ But surely if the land of your possession is unclean, pass over to the land of the possession of Jehovah in which Jehovah's tabernacle dwells, and take possession among us. But do not rebel against Jehovah, nor rebel against us in building an altar for yourselves besides the altar of Jehovah our God. ²⁰ Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a sin in the cursed thing, and did not wrath fall on all the congregation of Israel? And that man did not perish alone in his iniquity.

⁴ And it happened when the Angel of Jehovah spoke these words to all the sons of Israel, the people lifted up their voices and wept.

¹⁴ And the anger of Jehovah was hot against Israel, and He delivered them into the hand of spoilers who spoiled them. And He sold them into the hand of their enemies all around, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

⁴ For You are not a God that enjoys wickedness; nor shall evil dwell with You. ⁵ The foolish shall not stand in Your sight. You hate all doers of iniquity.

¹ The wicked flee when no man pursues; but the righteous are bold as a lion.

² But your iniquities have come between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, from hearing.

⁸ O Jerusalem, you must be instructed, lest My soul depart from you; lest I make you desolate, a land without people.

³³ And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask you, saying, What is the burden of Jehovah? You shall then say to them, What burden? I will even forsake you, says Jehovah.

¹² Though they bring up their sons, yet I will make them childless, without a man. Yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!

¹³ You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and can not look upon vexation. Why do You look upon those who deal deceitfully? Will you be silent when the wicked swallows one more righteous than he?

¹³ Then Haggai said, If one unclean of body touches these, is it unclean? And the priests answered and said, It is unclean. ¹⁴ And Haggai answered and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before Me, says Jehovah. And so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
