³¹ And I did not know Him, but that He be revealed to Israel, therefore I have come baptizing with water.

³ The voice of him who cries in the wilderness, Prepare the way of Jehovah, make straight a highway in the desert for our God. ⁴ Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked places shall be made level, and the rough places smooth; ⁵ and the glory of Jehovah shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken.

¹ Behold, I will send My messenger, and He will clear the way before Me. And Jehovah, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Angel of the Covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, He comes, says Jehovah of Hosts.

² But to you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise, and healing will be on His wings. And you shall go out and frisk like calves of the stall. ³ And you shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day which I am preparing, says Jehovah of Hosts. ⁴ Remember the Law of Moses My servant, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, the statutes and judgments. ⁵ Behold, I am sending you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of Jehovah.

⁶ And they were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.

³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight." ⁴ John came baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. ⁵ And all the land of Judea, and those of Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

¹⁷ And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

³⁹ And when they had finished all things according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. ⁴⁰ And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom. And the grace of God was on Him. ⁴¹ And His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. ⁴² And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the Feast.

³ And he came into all the country around Jordan, proclaiming the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, ⁴ as it is written in the book of the Words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.

⁷ This one came as a witness, to bear witness concerning the Light, so that all might believe through him.

³³ And I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water, that One said to me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon Him, He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

⁴ And Paul said, John truly baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe into Him coming after him, that is, into Jesus Christ.
