²⁶ who makes the word of His servant sure, and makes good the counsel of His messengers; who says to Jerusalem, She shall have people; and to the cities of Judah, You shall be built, and I will raise up the waste places of it;

⁴ And Moses said, Thus says Jehovah: About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt. ⁵ And all the first-born in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sits upon his throne, even to the first-born of the slave-girl that is behind the mill; also the first-born of beasts. ⁶ And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.

²⁹ And it happened at midnight Jehovah struck all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sat on his throne to the first-born of the captive that was in the prison; also all the first-born of cattle. ³⁰ And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he and all his servants, and all the Egyptians. And there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

³ And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which Jehovah has spoken. Behold, the altar shall be torn apart, and the ashes that are on it shall be poured out. ⁴ And it happened when King Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God who had cried against the altar in Bethel, he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him! And his hand, which he put forth against him withered up so that he could not pull it in again to himself. ⁵ The altar also was torn apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar according to the sign which the man of God had given by the Word of Jehovah.

³⁶ And it happened at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet came near and said, Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel, and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your Word. ³⁷ Hear me, O Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that You are Jehovah God, and that You have turned their heart back again. ³⁸ And the fire of Jehovah fell and burned up the burnt sacrifice and the wood, and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

⁷⁰ And the priests, and the Levites, and many of the people, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the temple slaves, lived in their cities. And all Israel in their cities.

³ And they said to me, The remnant left of the captivity there in the province is in great affliction and shame. And the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.

³ And I said to the king, Let the king live forever. Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire?

¹ Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and they built the Sheep Gate. They sanctified it and set up its doors, even to the Tower of Meah they sanctified it, to the Tower of Hananeel. ² And next to him the men of Jericho built. And next to them Zaccur the son of Imri built. ³ But the sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate, who laid its beams and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars. ⁴ And next to them Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz repaired. And next to them Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel repaired. And next to them Zadok the son of Baana repaired. ⁵ And next to them the Tekoites repaired. He built it and covered it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and the wall of the Pool of Shelah by the King's Garden, and to the stairs that go down from the City of David. ¹⁶ After him Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth-zur, repaired across from the tombs of David, and to the pool that was made, and to the house of the mighty men. ¹⁷ After him the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani, repaired. After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah repaired across from his room. ³¹ After him Malchiah the goldsmith's son repaired to the place of the temple-slaves, and of the merchants, across from the Miphkad Gate, and to the going up of the corner. ³² And between the going up of the corner to the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and the merchants repaired.

¹³ You shall arise, and have mercy on Zion; for the time to pity her, yea, the set time, has come. ¹⁴ For Your servants take pleasure in its stones, and pity its dust. ¹⁵ So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, and all the kings of the earth Your glory. ¹⁶ When Jehovah shall build up Zion, He shall appear in His glory.

² Jehovah builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.

⁹ Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they happen, I cause you to hear.

³ for you shall break out on the right hand and on the left. And your seed shall inherit the nations, and people will inhabit ruined cities.

¹¹ Afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted, behold, I will lay your stones among antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires. ¹² And I will make your battlements of ruby, and your gates of carbuncles, and all your borders of pleasant stones.

¹² And those who come of you shall build the old ruins; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

¹⁰ And the sons of strangers will build up your walls, and their kings will serve you; for in My wrath I struck you, but in My favor I had mercy on you.

⁴ And they will build the old wastes, they will raise up the ruins of former times. And they will repair the waste cities, the ruins of many generations.

¹⁸ So says Jehovah: Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and will have mercy on his dwelling places. And the city shall be built on her own hill, and the palace shall remain in its own place.

⁴ Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel. You shall again put on your tambourines, and shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.

³⁸ Behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that the city shall be built to Jehovah from the Tower of Hananeel to the Corner Gate. ³⁹ And the measuring line shall yet go before it to the hill Gareb, and shall go around to Goath. ⁴⁰ And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields to the torrent of Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be holy to Jehovah. It shall not be plucked up nor thrown down any more forever.

¹⁵ For so says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall be owned again in this land.

⁴⁴ Men shall buy fields for silver, and write it in a book, and seal it, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south. For I will cause their captivity to return, says Jehovah.

⁷ And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

¹⁰ And I will multiply men on you, all the house of Israel, all of it. And the cities shall have people, and the wastes shall be built.

³³ So says the Lord Jehovah: In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be built. ³⁴ And the waste land shall be tilled, instead of being a ruin before all passing by. ³⁵ And they shall say, This land that was wasted has become like the garden of Eden. And the wasted, deserted and ruined cities now are fortified and inhabited. ³⁶ And the nations that are left all around you shall know that I Jehovah build the ruined places and plant that which was wasted. I Jehovah have spoken it, and I will do it.

¹⁷ So says the Lord Jehovah: Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days, by the hand of My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days and years that I would bring you against them?

²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going out of the command to restore and to build Jerusalem, to Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in times of affliction.

¹⁴ And I will turn back the captivity of My people Israel, and they shall build the cities which are desolate, and they shall live in them. And they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine. They shall also make gardens and eat their fruit.

⁶ But My Words and My statutes which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? And they returned and said, As Jehovah of Hosts planned to do to us, according to our ways and according to our doings, so He has done with us.

⁴ And he said to him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited, as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle in her midst.

⁶ In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire among cut grain. And they shall devour all the peoples all around, on the right hand and on the left hand. And Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her place, in Jerusalem.

¹⁰ All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. And it shall rise and dwell in its place, from Benjamin's Gate to the place of the First Gate; to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananeel to the king's winepresses. ¹¹ And they shall dwell in it, and there shall never again be a shutting in, but Jerusalem shall dwell safely.

¹⁸ For truly I say to you, Till the heaven and the earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall in any way pass from the Law until all is fulfilled.

⁵⁶ But all this happened that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples fled, forsaking Him.

⁴⁴ And He said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and in the Prophets and in the Psalms about Me.

²⁵ For David speaks concerning Him, "I foresaw the Lord always before me, because He is at my right hand, that I should not be moved. ²⁶ Therefore my heart rejoiced and my tongue was glad; and also My flesh shall rest in hope, ²⁷ because You will not leave My soul in Hades, nor will You allow Your holy One to see corruption. ²⁸ You revealed to Me the ways of life. You will fill Me with joy with Your countenance."

¹⁹ We also have a more sure Word of prophecy, to which you do well to take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Daystar arises in your hearts, ²⁰ knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture came into being of its own private interpretation. ²¹ For prophecy was not borne at any time by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke being borne along by the Holy Spirit.
